Hey folks, DoomVendingMachine and I have decided this weekend, we'll participate in a Pokemon Movie marathon, and we'd like all of you to join in the mind-numbing adventure!

Random Smogoner: But wait Chou, won't my brain explode from watching all those crappy Pokemon movies?

Dude, are you stupid? With the additions of Victini and the Black Hero: Zeckrom, and Victini and the White Hero: Reshiram, there are now 14 (15?) Pokemon movies, all of which have been successful in the box office. How many other movie franchises do you know that can release 14 movies and still be popular-- huh? You ever heard about any other series getting 14 movies and staying profitable? That's right you haven't; but Pokemon is just that good.

So there are 14 movies out there to watch, the rules of this thread are simple:

-Watch as many movies as you can
-They don't have to be in chronological order
-Please report on them/post your impressions/Pokemon overdose symptoms/etc.
-Not priority, but brownie points if you watch all the short Pokemon-Only films like Pikachu's Vacation that proceed the movies.
-Not including stupid anime movies that were never on the big screen like Mewtwo returns, but brownie points if you fit them in after watching all the others.
-I understand it could be hard to find all of them to watch, especially #14; best of luck to all on that end.

Personally I'm going to start with the ones I haven't watched yet:
-Movie 12: Arceus
-Movie 14: Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom
(yes, I've already watched all the others; several on the big screen)


...that is if I can find a way to see the 14th movie. I wonder if there is a DVD I can rent from Tsutaya yet...

My dad owns a video store, so he'll hopefully have a lot of these movies in stock. I have the first few on WHS at home. hah

I also remember getting these special edition cards at the theatres

Just my quick reflections on the past movies - minor spoilers maybe, lol.

1 was epic when I first saw it as a kid - now it's kinda lamo

2 good first impression, but I think it's the same as 1 now

3 surprisingly good - they went above my expectations

4 was disappoint

5 pretty good, but didn't quite meet #3 imo

6 I liked it - it was fun - reminded me of Godzilla and Mononoke

7 shittiest movie ever - skip it

8 the intro was cool - had some good rarely animated poke in action

9 it was ite - not a fan; jirachi > manaphy

10 disappointing uber action - pretty much dragons flying around like block figures shooting beams at each other

11 Shaymin was cute - lots of awesome action

12 it was interesting - predictable but pretty cool story, bro. I kinda liked the fantasy element of it.

13 ZOROARK RAGE!!! Zoroa was irresistible - the antagonist was pretty bad ass, too

yea, i suck at movie critic

fun idea - wouldn't mind watching some of them over again, but unfortunately too busy.
 
plenty of anime franchises crank out endless, plotless movies, but pokemon is about the worst of what does...you could do worse things with your time, but this is a really bad decision
 
Jesus, there are so many more than I remembered. I won't be participating, but I'm sure it'll be pretty fun. I've done e-movie nights before and they're always awesome xD. Be sure to sync up your times... for NO SPOILERS.
 
I am totally going to do this! I've watched 1-7 and parts of 8 and 10 already (plus Mewtwo Returns), but I've always been meaning to watch the rest of them. Thanks for giving me an excuse!
I'm going to watch them in chronological order, since that means I get to watch the 2nd one sooner, and that's my favorite.
 
I will watch 1 and whichever one has Regigigas raise his arms and summon Mamoswine.
 
I would join it, but I don't have immediate access to any of these movies.

And as much as I dislike the anime, I've actually seen about half of these already and none of them have been bad
 
I've seen about all of them. My favorites are 1 / 5 / 8 / 12. They tend to alternate between mediocrity and quality without any general pattern.
 
I've seen all the movies except 5-7, 9 and 14. They're alright, there's nothing ground-breaking about them and they tend to be a bit repetitive when it comes to plot, but they're entertaining.

I've got my hands tied when it comes to school this weekend, so I won't be able to participate in this.
 
I've seen almost all of them. (Not the Gen 5 ones though) and I have to say there's only 3 I love:

Lucario and the Mystery of Mew
The First Movie
The Rise of Darkrai

Lucario being my favorite.


I have to say though, most of them are good, but I just really hated the Arceus one. Like it was craptastic
 
i'm in bro but I'm definitely going to watch the ones with english subs (which are extremely hard to find)

lol no, the Pokemon GAMES pushed all the right buttons. I'll admit that I liked the movies that I've seen (1, 2, 1 returns), and it is somewhat of an achievement to make anime movies that are better than the anime itself. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. I actually could have used this as an excuse to watch them, but I have too much of a backlog of other fun (and not so fun) stuff to do...
