Pokemon Rumble is the new wiiware game thats an action type game where you play as any pokemon (that you get through playing). in it your goal is to become the king of the battle royale tournament. the tournament has many ranks and in it youre dropped in a ring and need to defeat the many other pokemon inside. you also can go through adventure levels where you collect money by defeating pokemon, some can even join you after you defeat them, and at the end of the level youll fight a boss.

the game is very fun, kind of like if gauntlet legends meets pokemon. each pokemon can learn up to two moves and, to my knowledge, the only way to learn new moves is by using a lottery system where you pay money and youll randomly be given a move to learn or not learn so that makes it pretty exciting. the moves themselves vary as well and differ from the rpg and that nearly all moves are useful :o type effectiveness is in effect but immunities are not in the game.

the game is selling at 1500 points but you can try out the demo for free in the wii shop. serebii has also been updating its site with passwords to unlock all the pokemon but thats no fun.

-------------
traits: ive just gotten to the point in the game (around A rank) where im finding pokemon with special traits.

steady - it is not affected by any status change
snappy- it can use its moves quickly
perky - it recovers quickly from a status change
techie - moves with fewer stars become stronger
healthy - it restores hp slowly (seems to be 3 hp every 4 second, which is better than any healing move ive seen so far, bar rest)
mighty - it does not get swept away much
"type" guard - x-type moves do not damage it very much
rally - other players pokemon get stronger in multiplayer mode
scrapy - it has a higher critical hit rate
feisty - its moves sweep foes to a further distance
speedy - it can move around fast
brawny - it has higher hp
hardy - it has higher defence
punchy - it has higher attack
lucky - foe drops more money
gutsy - it has a very high critical hit rate

tickets: you can only have 1 ticket at a time. releasing 5 pokemon of the same species will reward you with a ticket for the next evolution of its species. if the species is already at it highest evolution, you will get a ticket for its lowest form. if it is the only species (no evo/prevolution) you will get a ticket for the same species you just obtained. releasing a certain combination of pokemon will also yield a ticket, usually for a unique pokemon.

Posting because this topic needs more love. I'm a poor bastard and can never afford much of anything but this is cheap and I still have 900 points from a previous Wii Shop gift card anyway, so I will probably get this.

I just saw several gameplay videos and this looks like the game that I dreamed of playing when I was a young child. The gameplay does look rather repetitive, but Children of Mana was basically the same thing and I managed to enjoy playing that. However, I don't own a Wii, and I'm not about to go out and buy one just so that I can play this.

I did it, now I can actually talk about the game with poor lonely atlas instead of just speculating about it like everyone else !!

I just got a Leech Seed + Seed Bomb Eggy, heh it's so broken. 8)

I have a bunch of points from when I was stupid and bought + used them on sale. Does this game have Charmander? Will buy if Charmander.

Random thoughts and questions and crap

I was || close to beating EX Rank 4 Royale last time I tried it with my new SKY ATTACK MOLTRES RAWR !! (and various other improvements). :( Oh well, try again and I'll get it soon.

Why is Garchomp so easy to get (end boss, Gabite farming) but Dragonite is nowhere to be found. I gotta farm up mass Dratini or what? :/ How silly. That's gonna make it a real pain to recruit my Dragon legends! ...Twice, because I'll need a new set after trading one in for Mewtwo.

Obviously moves exclusive to Gen2/Gen3 pokémon won't be in there, namely Aeroblast and Sacred Fire, but what about some other moves? Transform is obvious since poor Ditto just has Struggle. :pirate: I haven't seen or heard anything about, say, Spikes or Stealth Rock. (I know Toxic Spikes exists.) Attract might not exist since pokémon genders aren't displayed in this game, possibly Captivate as well. No happiness, so maybe no Return or Frustration. I haven't seen Camouflage but it's plausible that may exist based on Secret Power changing its secondary effect based on terrain. Blagh blagh blagh...

Assist, Metronome, Nature Power? Baton Pass? Copycat, Mirror Move, Mimic? Sweet Scent, Defog, Double Team? (I've seen Minimize.) Embargo, Fling, Recycle, Switcheroo, Trick? Follow Me? Gastro Acid, Worry Seed, Role Play, Skill Swap? Grudge? Guard Swap, Power Swap, Heart Swap, Power Trick, Psych Up? Healing Wish or Lunar Dance? Any weather moves, Trick Room? (I've seen Gravity.) Imprison? Lucky Chant? Magnet Rise? Me First? Foresight, Miracle Eye, Odor Sleuth? Mud Sport, Water Sport? Perish Song? Present? Sleep Talk, Snore? Snatch, Substitute? Stockpile, Spit Up, Swallow? Taunt, Encore? Trump Card?

Sorry, exhaustive list for me. :P Any moves there you guys might be able to confirm do exist, or any additional moves you might question the existence?

Both Techie and Punchy are approximately a 50% increase in damage. I tested last night and Techie only works on 1- and 2-star attacks, making it strictly inferior to Punchy in a similar way to Perky < Steady or Scrappy < Gutsy. There are some good 2-star attacks, though. Peck and Mach Punch are favorites of mine, simply being fast as hell direct attacks, and Magical Leaf and Magnet Bomb are great attacks as well.

A Gutsy pokémon with False Swipe is the best way to ensure you catch rare ones. Apparently the "crits" in this game ARE attacks that cause wobbling, so you want a Gutsy pokémon for farming. False Swipe prevents you from killing your rare target. Now, FS can't wobble if it does no damage but you can walk away (until the music/camera change back to normal) and enemies will regain HP, so you can keep doing that and re-Swiping until they wobble and guaranteed catch your rare target. For common pokémon, it's probably faster just to go through the stage normally and wipe out every mass of them you see. For that purpose, or for boss farming, I've been using a Gutsy Infernape with Focus Energy but I can't really tell if Gutsy + Focus Energy stack their crit boost...

I know Perish Song is in the game, as one of my random Mismagius has it. I have no idea what it does, though, since I haven't even looked at that particular Mismagius since obtaining it. Present is in the game as well as I got it once through the lottery (can't remember which rank, but it was in Advanced Mode), didn't keep it but the description says the effect changes every time you use it. I want to say that I also got Nature Power through the lottery once, but I'm not 100% sure about that. I also want to say I've seen Foresight as well, but I have even less of an idea where I might have seen that.

Also, just want to say that Healthy isn't a simple 3HP per 4 seconds thing as Atlas' post seems to be saying. It recovers more the higher your Pokemon's max HP is.

By the way, is it just me or do the Battle Royales get ridiculously harder from Normal to Advanced Mode? It took me at least ten tries before I finally beat Advanced S Rank, and it wasn't even Mewtwo (who has the best music in the game), it was all the rest of the fight. You get hit by a single status effect (I haven't gotten a SINGLE Sturdy Pokemon yet...), and it's pretty much gg for that Pokemon.

I didn't find it get all that difficult until the end there, yes. I just spent the past few hours starting to go back and catch all the rare pokemon I missed (and starting to build a cache to recruit the legends with), after which I spent a few tries attempting the EX Royale #4 again. I actually managed to get the Dragon Trio alone with Lickilicky (and no deaths!) but I just couldn't damage them fast enough and ran out of time. Looks like I'm gonna need to wait until I start to assemble bits of my "dream team." :(

In other news, Dragonite are a real pain in the ass to farm. >:O It only shows up as a boss, like Garchomp, but Dratini/Dragonair only show up in one stage (Normal-S Prairie, same stage as the Dragonite boss) and they're both retarded rare. Gabite is everywhere in Advanced-S Rocky Cave, so massing Garchomp isn't nearly as difficult.

Passwords for Giratina-O and Shaymin-S are available now, as well.

Did anybody else know that you can be wobbled in this game as well as the opponents? I don't mean flinched or confused, I mean actual wobbling. I had no idea that was possible, but the Rhyperior boss just managed to do it to me...

*EDIT*

Woo, just got my first shiny! A Perky Staravia. :D

I thought this looked cool until I found out there were no 2nd-gen or 3rd-gen Pokemon playable in it. >:0 Lack of Flygon FAIL!!! >_<

Also, just want to say that Healthy isn't a simple 3HP per 4 seconds thing as Atlas' post seems to be saying. It recovers more the higher your Pokemon's max HP is.

ya i know, i really should edit that out sometime...

you need to save up some cash. after you defeat a boss, you have a higher chance at buying that boss.

Why not do it now, since you're already here? :P

Also, I just accidentally found out that you don't necessarily need 5 Grass Cloak Burmy to get a Sand/Trash Cloak Wormadam. I released a Trash Cloak Burmy with 4 Grass Cloak ones and still got a Sand Cloak Wormadam.

Really Atlas? That's nifty if it's true. Earlier I just blitzed through half my cash recruiting in Normal-S for no real reason and got plenty of Dragonite anyway! And a ton of Jolteon, for some reason...

I figured something else out regarding the same idea, though. Boss monsters wobble really easily if you attack them while they're steaming up (before they become invincible). While I was looking for a Riolu in Advanced-S Windy Prairie to complete my pokémon collection, I went 5-of-6 recruiting the Lucario Boss trying to wobble/kill it during the steam charge-up using my Gutsy/FE Infernape. I had so many Lucario I was about to just release them to recruit my own Riolu before I happened across one the next run through, thank goodness. (Because I'd rather recruit more Dialga with them. :P)

All I have left to get is Uxie and Mesprit! I got all the available alternate forms for specific pokémon, too. My Manaphy's power is a bit low (mid-2200) but it came with Speedy so... I recruited four fucking Zapdos, with 3/4 of my released pokémon having an ability (all the Electabuzz I find don't have any...), and none of them came with an ability. :madx3:

Really? I've used my Gutsy Vileplume on many bosses, and I've yet to wobble a single one throughout their many pre-steam charge ups, unless a boss wobbling looks significantly different from a normal enemy wobbling... As a matter of fact, I don't think I've wobbled a single boss in the entire game.

Perhaps this could be evidence that Gutsy and Focus Energy do stack?

nah, ive wobbled quite a few bosses, with a gutsy mon and not. not that it makes much of a difference since i need to burn him down quickly enough to kill him which is hard depending when you wobble him.

I caught 'em all! Alt forms included. :* And beat the EX Royale 4 too. PSYCHIC GUARD GARCHOMP was apparently no match for Mewtwo, as Dragon Claw + Earthquake kinda puts him in too much danger of dying and he couldn't get in a good hit, but MIGHTY MOLTRES just pulled a Jirachi on him with Sky Attack spam and he never attacked again.

I know Perish Song is in the game, as one of my random Mismagius has it. I have no idea what it does, though, since I haven't even looked at that particular Mismagius since obtaining it.
Perish Song is terrible. A little while after using it you and any enemies that were close when you used it just simply die.

I've beaten the EX 4 Battle Royale a few times. Used a Garchomp with Protect and Dragon Claw. Put up Protect and just mow through stuff.

Some fun Pokemon I have (in no particular order) :
Gutsy Shaymin
Gutsy Marowak with False Swipe
Lucky Meowth with Pay Day
Shiny Hardy Drapion
Shiny Gutsy Doduo
Techie Golem with Rock Throw
Shiny Healthy Starly
Shiny Hardy Weezing
Shiny Feisty Vileplume
Gutsy Spiritomb (Shadow Ball pinball is fun, also has Pain Split)

Also, Cross Chop is BRUTAL. Hits with average power five times if all hits connect. Tears through bosses.

EDIT: Some awesome new guys:
Shiny Gutsy Bibarel
Shiny Scrappy Nidoqueen
Healthy Weavile (power of 2311, has Ice Beam and Night Slash. It had those moves when I got it)

Also checked and edited in Weezing's and Vileplume's traits.
