Pokemon Obsidian and Turquoise​

After almost 2 years, the fakedex is finally done.
They are all designed (except one) and sprited by me.
So as you might can imagine, my spriting skills where as good as now. So I'm planning to edit all sprites.
Of course this will take ages (litteraly ^^) but I'm willing to take the challenge.​

From you guys, I would love to hear you 'top3' and 'bottom3'.
The plan is to keep editing the bottom 3 to 'the weak links' weak links stronger.
Hopefully I'll manage to make an awesomelooking fakedex at the end :D​

You also might have noticed that they all don't have names.
So every time I edit a sprite, you can suggest a name for it.
I suck at giving names so all of you can be a big help :)​

You've finally finished! It's quite nostalgic to recognise many of the sprites from your efforts over the past years, and refreshing to see many new additions.

Definite luvdisc, and I'm going to assemble a list of punworthy names for you right now.

p.s. I fixed the spelling of 'Obsidian' for you.

E: If I pretend that these are the most ludicrous names I can come up with then we're fine.

001: Tweetick (Tweet + Chik)
002: Cranopy (Crane + Canopy, though it isn't a crane)
003: Pholiage (Pheasant + Foliage)
004: Lizinder (Lizard + Cinder)
005: Smoltile (Smoulder + Reptile)
006: Ankylaze (Ankylosaurus + Blaze)
007: Torree (Torrent + ?)
008: Torrosh (Torrent + Slosh)
009: Torrnami (Torrent + Tsunami)
010: Glark (Lark + ?)
011: Gleart (Heart + ?)
012: Gleamunt (What)
013: Raccuiem (Raccoon + Requiem)

Err yes I might leave it there, otherwise my brain would explode from these horrible names.

I like alot of the words you used for making the names. The names themselves look a bit weard (but I also thought that of the names of the new B/W pokemon). So I'll think about it.
I actually already have a name for the grass starter (a friend helped me out with that): Chirpeak (chirp + peacock).
Also the second one is probably going to be leafowl (leaf + (pea)fowl)

I didn't chose the 'weakest' sprites but the ones who I made a long time ago with a simple design. I just haven't sprites for a long time so I use them to warm up my sprite skills :p

For the second one, I was thinking about hydrop (hydro + drop), but I'm irritated that it sound like high + drop.
For the last one, I already found about a name for the evolution: sinaye (sin + aye aye/eye).
Maybe I should use that name for this one and use 'medusaye' for the evolution...

actually noobiess, with these revamps... are you listing them old -> new?

if that's the case, i actually think the old sprites look better than your new ones

Yes it is old --> new
In wich aspect do you think they are better, the lineart or the shading?
I also had to make them alot smaller to match size of the official sprites of the games. Therefore I couldn't give them so much detail as before...

I see you've made some new evolutionary relatives, which are really great, I have to say. Is that a split evolutionary line for Luvdisc, or two consecutive evolutions? And is the Poison/Flying thingy beside Drapion related in any way?

Really loving the evolution of Chimecho. And Qwilfish's (is that one, or two?). New Shellos/Gastrodon are nice too.

However, I think #149 could need some tending to. It's a little... well, what do you call it... weird?
#151 could also need a repose. At the moment, it looks awfully like Alakazam.

Last, given that what we see is Drapion's evolution, there appears to be only one unaltered evolutionary line from the previous generations here: The one of Nincada. Is there any reason for this?

for example, compare sprite 4 to sprite 149-151.. the shading is better in the original

It's a split evolution for luvdisc: I'm not shure how I'm going to do it but I was think that luvdisc could evolve into 107 by happiness and into 108 when it has a low happiness...

Skorupi kan evolve into drapion or 123
Qwilfish only has one evolution. 139 is a pokemon who doesn't have any evolutions of prevolutions.

Finally shedinja can evolve into 31. The idea behind it is that shedinja a crazy ghost masked with a calm-looking shell. When it loses it's shell the crazy ghost is unleased :p

You think the shading of '4' is better then 149-151?

Subtract 1 from the numbers I gave feedback on. That would be #148 that looks odd and #150 that looks like Alakazam.
 
#2, #49, and #152 are my favs. They're pretty amazin' (: #62 is also awesome.

#127, #116-17, and #91 are prob my least favorites. 127 probably just needs a little more dimension, while 116 and 117 could probably just use a resprite. 91 just looks like, forgive me, a floating caterpillar. It doesn't strike me as a "dragon". Perhaps add some oriental flare to it, such as a ruff or tendrils on its snout?

err, i prefer the earlier shading and coloring then 150-152 (sorry, i messed up haha). it's more complex and realistic imo, like in #150, the coloring is rather simple
 
I like the new sprites, actually, and if you want to produce an actual ROM hack, you'll need to reduce the size to 64x64 at the largest anyways. That said, there are some real gems amongst the older ones, such as 7, 135 and 139. I'm firmly of the belief you should resize them all and produce a hack, because with Pokemon like these, no game could be boring!

You definitly got better from the old sprites. I remember those sprites...I specifically remember the fire started, I always thought that one was cool.
