Pokémon TCG Pocket

With stuff like this I fully believe the attempt was genuine and overtuned and not a master conspiracy to either get away with a bad system (that you can't even really P2W with since both parties would have to opt into that aspect, and if you P2W you may as well just use that on more packs...) or to backpedal on purpose to earn goodwill by "listening to the community"

Sometimes developers are just Like That. That said I think we're lucky they introduced this early on in the game's life because if it was later on they'd probably just not bother.

Well, told myself i was pulling exclusively Dialga packs until I got the immersive, and that happened today. Took 39 packs, which i'm hardly gonna complain about, but I did miss out on a few mons I would've liked like Yanmega ex, and I only got one copy of Darkrai as well

On the plus side, I did get two copies of the Rainbow 2* Gallade, which is one of my favorite arts in the whole set, and I have two copies of Dialga including the immersive, so I still consider it a win, but I'm definitely moving over to Palkia packs for a bit

It's been almost two months since Mythical Island released and the Budding Expeditioner still doesn't have his Pokémon Showdown avatar yet. Is TCG Pocket not as actually popular as its players/fans think it is?

My main complaint with the new set so far: God I need Arceus EX...

(NGL, I'm hoping for Angry reacts to this post for that joke. :P)

I'm hoping for the Immersive Art one because I've been lucky enough to open every other Immersive Art and I'm F2P!

Edit: That complaint aged poorly! :D I got an Arceus EX from Wonder Pick the next day then opened a pack an Immersive Art the morning after that!

When Irida was revealed I hoped that she wouldn't make Water Decks better. (or at least be used instead of Misty) Healing 40 Damage from a Pokemon with a Water Energy Attached is not something I want my least favorite deck to get. I feel like I got a monkey paw when I saw Mono Grass Decks with Water Energy instead of Grass (Getting Grass Energy from Leafeon EX) so they could use Irida.

Honestly, YAY! Thank you monkey paw! Celebi is still Coin Flip BS too, but at least you expect to die when there's 6 coins! :D

There's only 3 Fire type Pokemon in the new set. Yep, it's Sinnoh... I'm not complaining about the ones we do have though. There's a Heatran that isn't weak to Fire and this beauty.

I'd say this demon is the best art in the set and opening one makes me okay with my bad luck with EX Pokemon this set so far, but I don't want Barry to fine me for saying his Full Art isn't the best. :P

Speaking of demons...

Behold the new worst card in the game! Discarding 2 Random Energies when what type you get each turn is random to begin with? Ouch... Crisis indeed. I was thinking about using it with Gardevoir if I open a second Giratina just to try to win with it, but it turns out she can only attach Energies to Psychic Pokemon... -_- (Side note: I would've used Celebi EX as my other attacker because of the Coin Flip Attack, not caring about Energy Type, and actually being good but that also doesn't work because also not Psychic.)

In a way, it makes sense that the closest thing to Pokemon Satan is the worst card in a set based around Pokemon God. Still, I feel bad for Giritina for being a cover Legend but still having the worst card in the game... Except maybe Team Plasma Grunt...

Are you asking for trades with a meme format? Just asking to be 100% sure because it's a meme format.

If you are, I've got a spare Hypno and I could use a second GA Magneton if we're getting Ranked Mode. (Spoiler tab because I'm not sure if it's conformed or just a highly likely rumor.)

Explicitly confirmed to be coming in the trailer that showed off the new set

Leafeon ex is good y'all.

I swapped out the Vaporeon and Jolteon on my Dragonite deck for two of these, and having a 140 HP with one retreat cost that can generate energy for itself is so nice for stalling for Dragonite. Not only is it trivial to swap out once Dragonite is ready, but it also avoids the pitfall of a lot of walls where they're super passive, since if you ignore this thing for only a few turns it'll start attacking without slowing down your energy at all. In fact, with Dawn and maybe an X Speed, it can actually accelerate your energy by covering Colorless costs with Grass energy. And if you put a Water energy on it, you can either Dawn the Water energy onto Dragonite if you were unlucky with energy pulls, or Dawn the Grass energy so that you can heal both Dragonite and Leafeon with a single Irida.

The Irida thing is more specific to Dragonite, but I can see this being extremely useful on any deck centered on an energy-hungry attacker who accepts Colorless energy.

Been playing for a week or so now, and have been rather enjoying it.

From what I've found, I've built a neat dark-type deck with Darkrei EX, Scolipede, Drapion, and Farfetch'd.
Darkrai is awesome, dealing damage from the bench. Scolipede is extremely energy efficient, allowing for more energy for my heavy hitters, and Drapion is coin reliant, but is my heaviest hitter.
Then there's Farfetch'd.
Why is this dumb bird so aggressively above curve? He's not great once more powerful pokemon get powered up, but if I can get him down turn one, he wreaks house, especially if Darkrai is giving artillery support.

The AI is bizarre. Why is it so obsessed with retreating? It loves to play musical chairs at the slightest provocation.
Also, is it just me, or is going second very much superior to going first?

Ai kind of feels like it varies based on the deck they play, but there's definitely a tendency to play overly safe yeah.

And yeah, going second does still seem preferred. That energy attachment is so important. I think going first still has its merits, mostly for decks that can ramp up quickly such that missing the energy isnt as big a deal, but man just about every other deck i've played or gone up against I've never thought "oh yes i'm going first/oh no they're going first"

i think going first might be better for eggy ex deck. your optimal hand is starting with an eggy, and if you go second your exeggcute is not going to be able to knock out anything, and theres a chance your foe can evolve on their third turn/get an attack that kos exeggcute before you can evolve it into eggy ex. Going first locks you in as being the first to evolve and eggy only needs one energy to be useful anyway

even then the number of turn 3 board states i've seen that can immediately ramp up and kill that egg are pretty minimal. Like a fighting deck that got riolu on bench with gible up front -> riolu into lucario, gible into gabite. or like starting charmander can do it but that'll be way more devastating long term and char decks want moltres in the active asap (speaking from experience here, sadly...)

im really annoyed we have a new set already

and it's another Charizard EX, and that frankly almost every card they showed imo is ugly. If you're gonna do Shiny Pokemon pandering at least do an Umbreon/Rayquaza or some shit

also it's just too soon imo, this is my set by set completion so far and like you can see how I'm getting increasingly further behind

Genetic Apex (224/226)
Mythical Island (66/68)
Space-Time Smackdown (138/155)
Triumphant Light (68/75)

It's definitely ridiculous that there's already a new set especially when we know there's A3 at the end of April. Are they just going to put a set out every month?

The stater deck ex missions will help take the sting a little, since those cards are added to the collection, but I'm hoping these last two sets are just outliers due to circumstances; Pokemon Day for TL and the addition of Ranked for this set.

idk if I'm in the minority of this but for me the missions aren't super helpful because honestly fighting the AI in this game feels monotonous

for some reason this game feels pretty unoptimized on my phone and I hate just putting it on autoplay for the gible missions like 5 times in a row just to get jack shit, and then missions that make me make new decks that i dont care about, spending so much time just to get 3 dinklies so i can have a 20% chance to get a skrunkle if the skrunkle appears in my scroodle

we got wugtrio ex.

game freak

i dont know why i need to fucking tell you this

nobody fucking cares about wugtrio. your attempt to create a 6th method to kanto pander in a decade didnt work this time. stop

Agreed on this point, though i feel like at least one of the recent mini-sets is down to a mandate by TPC rather than a release planned significantly in advance

Personal progress wise, i've completed Mythical Island, but still have cards missing from the other sets, at 152/155 on Space-Time Smackdown and 73/75 on Triumphant Light. Not entirely sure on Genetic Apex but I know it's the furthest away from completion.

Mostly annoyed about the fact that I was hoping to go back to Space-Time Smackdown to pick up some pack points to eventually get the 2* rarity Dialga ex, but that looks like it's gonna have to go on the back burner until this next set is done as well. And by the time that's done, we'll probably have the next full set to go as well

please i cant take it anymore. im like a shriveling grape. no more sets please i still havent gotten glaceon ex to complete my triumphant light
people are getting mad at f2p players for not wanting over 110 cards to be dropped like 3 weeks after the last set like "well it doesnt matter if you're behind!"

but like by the point i got the cards to play the decks for this expansion the new one is gonna invalidate that meta lol. let alone tech builds

AND they're releasing ranked soon probably which will make it even worse

I'm more annoyed than excited at the reveal of this set. It's too soon, very soon. In fact we didn't even have a Wonder Pick event for a specific type for Triumphant Light. (edit: nvm lol) People are not going to catch up quickly with their collections at this rate.

Also Charizard and Pikachu EX again, give me a break, that perfectly could've been *any other fire starter* EX and *any other pikaclone* EX.

Also I hate Iono, and I hate even more that her effect looks like it's going to be a meta staple.

I will say that you are probably never meant to fully "catch up" with collections, so my annoyance is more akin to what ant says and that's picking up the important pieces that will likely still be relevant moving forward. Trading can offset this, but trading itself has its own issues as I'm sure we're all aware of. Only being able to do it a set behind doesnt help.
Frequent sets also makes it difficult to pick up pack points.

The only upshot is the game is still early in its life that yelling at them can presumably still cause change to things like this (see trading) before it becomes too entrenched and they can just cruise.
