[SET COMMENTS]
Pelipper's access to Drizzle and Wide Guard in a metagame full of spread moves and weather control allow it to thrive as a support Pokemon with the threat of strong STAB options. Wide Guard is an excellent utility move, which not only protects its partner but, along with Pelipper's typing, also allows it to counter many Restricted Pokemon such as Groudon, Koraidon, both Calyrex formes, and Kyogre. Weather Ball and Hurricane's high Base Power make up for Pelipper's middling Special Attack, nuking most targets weak to its STAB moves, such as both Urshifu formes and Incineroar. Protect is generally preferred for utility and to block Fake Out, however Tailwind can be used for speed control. Focus Sash is needed to guarantee Pelipper can remain a threat even when facing one of the many Pokemon that can hit it for super effective damage. Tera Ghost is a generally strong Tera type and allows Pelipper to dodge Fake Out, which is especially important because it threatens to break Focus Sash. Tera Stellar is also viable to boost Pelipper's damage.
Any Pokemon that benefits from rain or Wide Guard appreciates Pelipper's support. Calyrex-I, Zacian-C, and Urshifu-R all value Pelipper's support, with Wide Guard blocking super effective Astral Barrages and Precipice Blades and rain boosting Urshifu-R's Surging Strikes. Other support Pokemon like Amoonguss and Incineroar are also strong with Pelipper defensively, with it handling threats such as Urshifu-R and Landorus for Incineroar and Wide Guard blocking Bleakwind Storms from hitting Amoonguss. Its low Speed tier means it's essentially useless against Pokemon that can exploit its Speed and bring it down to its Focus Sash, leaving Pelipper unable to do anything without the threat of being knocked out. Opposing weather also completely cripples Pelipper, as its moves rely on rain to be consistent; however, its lower Speed compared to most weather setters means this scenario is playable, with rain more commonly lasting its five turns. Fake Out and other priority moves that can break Focus Sash easily are also devastating.
