Introduction

Hello everyone, I recently had the idea of using a strong choice specs user in OU. I would normally use one of the many dragons with draco meteor but then I remembered that draco meteor has several clones and the one with the best typing is overheat. A lot of teams in OU are technically really weak to special fire type attacks, and the strongest one in ou is :iron-moth:. Threw in :Quaquaval: along the way and ended up hitting rank 6! Hope yall' enjoy!

The team

:sv/Iron-Moth:
Iron Moth @ Choice Specs
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overheat
- Fiery Dance
- Sludge Wave
- Energy Ball

:Iron-moth:’s choice specs overheat reaches incredible levels of damage. It is easily capable of 2hkoing :slowking-galar:, the most popular special wall in the tier. Even :alomomola: isn’t completely safe after a knock off and some chip damage. I have chosen to use overheat over fireblast for its better accuracy and better initial power. Fiery dance increases :Iron-moth:'s threat potential against defensive teams, letting it fish for boosts to steamroll its defensive checks. Sludge wave is an additional stab move to help against fairy types. Finally energy ball is able to deal with your one true counter in :garganacl:, comfortably 2hkoing it. Tera fire is for additional breaking power when the opponent would otherwise barely hang on by playing defensive. :Iron-moth: should be played as an early game breaker that can soften up the team for the sweepers in the back.

:sv/Slowking-Galar:
Slowking-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 240 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Future Sight
- Chilly Reception
- Psychic Noise
- Sludge Bomb

:slowking-galar: offers critical pivot and future sight support for the rest of the team. Future sight is incredibly powerful when combo-ing with either :Iron-moth: or :Quaquaval: because often their defensive checks might be able to pivot around them, future sight offers the extra bit of damage needed to break defensive cores. This :slowking-galar: has the oddball move choice of psychic noise, but its the key to why this set is so threatening. It throttles defensive teams, making it easy to line up future sights and prevent the opponent from trying to stall it out. it also completely destroys stall teams who otherwise would have ways of playing around future sight by using pokes like :corviknight:. Psychic noise also has the benefit of providing immediate psychic damage against opposing :iron-moth: and :zamazenta:, 2hkoing these very threatening pokemon that could run away with the game, as well as a move that can punish :great-tusk: for spinning. It also destroys :kyurem: trying to use substitute on you, since psychic noise goes through sub and blocks leftovers healing. I have sludge bomb last as it is the best method for hitting most dark types on switch in. Tera water lets :slowking-galar: turn off its weaknesses if it needs to.

:SV/Dragonite:
Dragonite @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Multiscale
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Extreme Speed
- Ice Spinner

The primary win-condition. The standard DD :dragonite: set is still fantastic in today's meta. :Dragonite: has incredible role compression for the team. With multiscale it is able to soft check any pokemon one time per game, an absolutely incredible quality against hyper offense. Such pokemon it can check are roost :roaring-moon:, booster speed :iron-moth: and :iron valiant: as well as a variety of other fast threatening sweepers who would otherwise take advantage of :iron-moth:'s choice lock. This isn't even mentioning its game ending potential as a sweeper. In most games :Dragonite: should play to preserve its multiscale, even if it means sacking another pokemon to keep it intact, as when the conditions are right it can dd once or twice and end the game immediately with tera normal espeed.

Btw if your opponent is using :araquanid: webs, lead this guy and click dd a bunch of times, you might just win.

:SV/kingambit:
Kingambit @ Leftovers
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Kowtow Cleave
- Iron Head

:Kingambit: does all of its usual good stuff on this team, backup win condition, backup priority user, important defensive typing. This is the standard :kingambit: set so not much to say here. Tera ghost is chosen to use :zamazenta: as a setup opportunity if its necessary, as otherwise if :slowking-galar: and :iron-moth: dies there is nothing to stop it.

:sv/quaquaval:
Duckular (Quaquaval) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Moxie
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 248 Atk / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Aqua Step
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin

I needed a rapid spinner for :Iron-moth: but I didn't feel like adding :great-tusk: and stacking ground types because I already had :landorus-therian:. Thus I looked for alternative spinners and remembered this set from one of pinkacross' team revision videos and it worked fantastic here. :Quaquaval: acts as both rapid spin support and threatening breaker for the team. Future sight + Close combat is a classic combo from gen 8, and it works wonders here, breaking apart many defensive cores open. As an alternative spinner to :Great-tusk:, :quaquaval: actually has a lot going for it. Aqua step allows you to become faster than :dragapult:, allowing you to ohko it with knock off on the next turn if it tries to stay in, and easily get the spin off on the turn after. You also ohko offensive :gholdengo: with the combo of aqua step into knock off (though physdef versions are more problematic). Assault vest helps :Quaquaval: survive longer and assists its sweep by increasing its special bulk. The AV isn't for specific things, but it helps :quaquaval: survive 1 or 2 more hits throughout a game. Tera electric has 2 use cases, for one it turns off all of :quaquaval:'s weaknesses which is useful to survive attacks like :iron-valiant: moonblast and continue boosting to a sweep. It also prevents paralysis from the likes of :zapdos: and helps :quaquaval: defeat :raging-bolt:. It has one more niche use case against :ribombee: as if you tera turn 1 and click rapid spin, you avoid paralysis and guarantee ohko the bee next turn. This is risky however as it means you cannot tera :dragonite: later, so it is not applicable for all webs matchups. 8 spedef evs lives unboosted :iron-valiant:'s moonblast after stealth rocks every time (it never came up lol).
Shoutouts to duckular for being the best duck :smogduck:.

:SV/Landorus-Therian:
Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 Spe
Bold Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- U-turn
- Taunt

:Landorus-therian: is the glue that holds the team together, providing stealth rock and pivot support as well as being a ground type. The evs are physdef with enough speed to outspeed :gliscor:. Tera ghost is very useful on this set to ensure stealth rocks stay up if they are necessary to win (this won me several games where they were).Taunt is necessary to prevent defog attempts since we don't have :gholdengo:. It is also useful to throttle toxic protect :gliscor: on stall teams, making sure that teammates have safe entry.

Play tip
Try and preserve multiscale on :dragonite:
I know it might be tempting to switch it in early to not lose a mon, but this should only be done as a last resort, :dragonite: is too good of a wincondition with multiscale that this can be game losing.

How to beat stall every time:
1. Lead :Landorus-therian: and click taunt until :gliscor: is safely taunted, get up stealth rocks and then stay in and burn turns clicking taunt (doing nothing) until you can apply a 2nd fresh taunt on it, then pivot to :quaquaval: to force it to switch out. (this is necessary to do this to prevent :quaquaval: from being toxic'd which is a lose condition)
2a. Try to line up a future sight with :slowking-galar:, then go :quaquaval: and earn a knock off or hit for close combat damage.
2b. Try to line up a future sight with :slowking-galar: If your opponent can or is trying to play around future sight, then you can start trying to use psychic noise to punish them.
3. Repeat step 2 until they lose, also use :kingambit: or :dragonite: with future sight when necessary.
4. If :blissey: dies then you can also break with future sight + :iron-moth:
5. If you messed up, you can still try and break through :dondozo: with fallen 3 :kingambit:.

I have a 100% win rate against stall with this team so if you follow this you should win every time.

Threatlist

:sv/ogerpon-wellspring:

It is a bad matchup however I have been seeing less of it lately. There are 0 switch ins on this team for :ogerpon-wellspring: and :iron-moth: only speed ties it, however it is still possible to beat it with offensive pressure. The best thing to do against :ogerpon-wellspring: is to lead :Landorus-therian: and click u-turn to chunk it for 50% and then force it out with something else. if you can manage rocks against it that will limit it even further. After chip:dragonite: can pick it off with tera normal espeed then while preserving its multiscale, and :kingambit: can also beat it with priority. If things are going south, :dragonite: can emergency check it at the cost of significant health. As a last resort you can also risk a speed tie with :iron-moth: to kill it.

:sv/zapdos:

This will impede :dragonite:'s and :kingambit:'s by paralyzing them, and it is hard to lock down and remove. You should bait this in using :quaquaval: so you can knock it off so you can beat it with stealth rocks. Btw it is worth it to sack :quaquaval: just to knock off :zapdos: as after knock off and 1 round of stealth rocks, it can no longer live dragonite's ice spinner at +1.

:Sv/garganacl:

This is the one mon that can repeatedly switch into :iron-moth: multiple times and its very hard to beat. Its necessary to predict this coming in with energy ball as soon as possible because there is very limited time before a garg team overwhelms this team. the main issue is that once rocks are up, :garganacl: can tera and basically solo the rest of the team, so it needs to be overwhelmed fast. winnable but very rough.

:sv/raging-bolt:

There isn't a solid check to this guy on the team, this is beat by hitting it with the other members until :dragonite: can finish it. You can also overwhelm this if you have an attack boost with :quaquaval: and tera electric.
