Persian @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician (which I would recommend), or Limber
Jolly Nature (+Spd., -SA)
6 HP / 252 Atk. / 252 Spd.

Body Slam
Fake Out
Blade Test/Quick Revenge/Somersault/Aerial Ace
Sneak

- The basic "Trick Persian". It could work. Techanician works well with Choice Band to increase the moves' powers.

Persian @ Leftovers
Ability: Limber
Jolly Nature (+Spd., -SA)
6 HP / 252 Atk. / 252 Spd.

Return
Blade Test/Somersault
Hypnosis
Screech

- Basically, Persian uses Hypnosis, then Screech. It can also Somersault, either knocking out the opponent or bringing in another teammate to sweep up the opponent quickly.

Persian @ Leftovers/ Wisdom Glasses
Ability: Technician
Timid Nature (+Spd., -Atk.)
6 HP / 252 Spd. / 252 SA

Water Pulse
Shock Wave
Icy Wind
Swift
Scheme (any one of the moves can be swapped for this).

- You're probably thinking of me as an idiot for giving you this set, but it could work. Technician raises the power of all these moves because they are 60 BP or lower. Plus, if you use the Wisdom Glasses, each move can be >90 power, which isn't too bad. If you use Scheme, I would recommend Leftovers. Any of the other SAs listed can be thrown in I guess.

Persian @ Leftovers
Ability: Limber or Technician
Timid Nature (+Spd., -Atk.)
6 HP / 252 Spd. / 252 SA

Thunderbolt
Power Gem/Water Pulse/Dark Pulse/Shadow Ball/Dream Eater/Swift
Hypnosis
Scheme

- Basically Hypnosis, then Scheme to raise your SA and sweep.

Overview- Because of Persian's poor Attack and Defense stats, it will be crushed in the metagame. But, it does have some support moves to make it last a little longer. Just because its movepool has been well increased doesn't mean it can fight better. I would recommend, overall, the physical set versus the special set. If anyone has any more ideas about Persian or any more sets, feel free to list them.

Hidden Power (60) doesn't get boosted by Technician.

Persian's got 115 speed and can use Hypnosis, so I'd use it to sleep something quickly. If I recall correctly, it's the second fastest Hypnosis user behind Crobat.

Persian @ Leftovers
Technician
Jolly or Modest
Max SpAtk, Max Speed, 4HP

~ Hypnosis
~ Scheme
~ Swift
~ Water Pulse

Sleep something, then Scheme while the opponent switches. Then use Technician'd Swift (~135 power with STAB), or Technician'd Water Pulse (90 power) against Rock-types.

Well, Ninetales can do this better, but oh well.

You can trade a Pickup Meowth with Swift from Emerald to D/P and it has a chance of evolving into Technician Persian, btw.

Even though Darkrai uses Dark Hall instead of Hypnosis, it does learn Hypnosis and is the second fastest Hypnotizer in the game

Unless you're that scared on Evasion, Thunderbolt is always superior to Shock Wave, technician or not

Persian's hitting power on the special side isn't so good. I usually like to run Thunder > Bolt

I generally prefer Purugly as far as Choice Banding goes, because it has the stronger Return, among other things. So Persian should probably stick to abusing Hypnosis and maybe Scheme. Scheme/Swift is not a bad combination, though Persian's bad special attack makes it a bit questionable.

The fact that Persian learns Somersault helps it as a choice bander. Also, the technician ability makes it stronger, since it knows lots of low-powered moves.

Speaking of Purugly, Serebii got it's trait wrong. Purugly has Thick Fat and Own Tempo, not Limber.

No, I'm not bashing him. I'm just pointing out something

Purugly also gets Somersault, and has a stronger one to boot.

The main advantage of Persian is a stronger Bite (vs Purugly's Shadow Claw), but I'm not entirely sure where that would see use in UU... Haunter?

Banette actually, who Persian used to carry Shadow Ball for.

Personally, I like:

Persian@Leftovers/Concentration Band/Pink Bow
Jolly: 6 HP/252 Att/252 Spd
-Fake Out
-Hypnosis
-Double-Edge
-Somersault

Fake Out is 90 base power with STAB and Technician. Lead with it, free Fake Out first turn. Double-Edge if you can KO or (more likely) Somersault if you can't. With 115 base Speed the number of Pokemon that can actually outspeed Persian is very low. The problem here is that it's very difficult to switch in, although if you manage to switch it into SDing Garchomp or Scheming Azelf or something you should be able to do some damage. Life Orb is a possible item, but this Persian will probably be attacking a lot, so the 10% drain might be too much. The Pink Bow is an interesting option because half of this Persian's moves are Normal-type and it would really appreciate more damage, but can't really afford a Choice Band or Life Orb. Bite is an option over DE to hit Ghosts hard, but Persian really doesn't like losing its only powerful move.

Interesting idea, but IMO Persian needs all the power it can get. It has 65/60/65 defenses, it isn't going to survive much, so why would it use Return? The same is true for Body Slam - I could see using it for the switch, but why bet on a 30% paralysis chance when you could Somersault and switch in a counter to your foe's Pokemon anyway?

The reason to swap Double-Edge is because of the recoil. If Persian takes too much recoil, it may backfire and it could faint quicker. Plus, an 18-power difference isn't big at all.

I had a similar idea for Choice Band + Fake Out Persian but with Life Orb, Life Orb is probably more ideal.

It'd be a good threat against Starmie at least since its fast enough to finish it off with a Somersault or even Quick Attack if you wish. Thing is with Life Orb you wouldn't need to switch out but could risk staying in to make the killing blow.

Then again in that aspect, Ambipom is superior in every aspect having Technician, Fake Out, 115 speed too and even 100 base attack to work off.

Because Persian has low defenses, it's probably best to not use Life Orb, when Concentration Band can also boost your attack without the "recoil" being involved.

Concentration Band is "only" a 10% more power in physical attacks.
Pink Scarf is 20% more power in Normal attacks
Life Orb is 25%-30% more power in all attacks + 10% total HP recoils for attack.
Choice Band is 50% more power in physical attacks.

You choose.

Persian's low defenses are actually a good reason to use Life Orb. Chances are if she's taking a hit, she'll die regardless of losing 10% each hit. Might as well try to do as much damage as possible while she's around.

Fake Out/Hypnosis/Somersault/Bite or Return is my favourite set for her. Free hits and a fast sleeper sound good to me.

Actually, when you do put it that way, Life Orb may definitely help Persian. I suggested Dream Eater on Persian, but will it work in any of its sets?

Not really. If you Hypnosis something, they usually switch. Or they send in a Sleep Talker who will likely do plenty of damage to Persian.

Dream Eater is one of those moves that sounds good in theory, but is rarely useful. You'd be better off Scheming or attacking while they're asleep.
