OU Team: Leech Trap

Leech Trap OU Team
Introduction

I had a lot of time on my hands and basically the only thing I could do was think so I tried to think of a somewhat unique team idea for Pokémon. I was thinking that the one thing that I always hated about leech seed is that after using it, my opponent could just switch out their Pokémon to get rid of it… so what if I made sure that the opponent couldn’t leave after I used it, so I cross referenced the list of pokemon that can use Leech Seed and Mean Look/Block (turns out no two pokemon can learn Leech Seed and Mean Look) and I found four Pokemon that could use Leech Seed and Block and they were Abamasnow, Tangrowth, Venusaur, and Torterra. The decision on which pokemon to try this combo out on was easy at first… I hat abamasnow, and Tangrowth seemed like it might be a little frail to use the combo, so it was down to Venusau and Torterra. I finally decided to go with Torterra because of his higher defense ratings as well as HP. After all, wouldn’t my “Leech Trapper” need to be able to survive long enough to “Leech Trap?” The idea is that if need be, my sweepers can take out the real threats to torterra and then, in case Machamp doesn’t keep my opponent’s lead from using stealth rocks or other entry hazards, Tentacruel and rapid spin and set up my own toxic spikes, which help tremendously.
Torterra is definitely my favorite part of this team. Using block first is the best bet in my opinion, so that the pokemon is at least trapped if nothing else, and it keeps natural curers from switching out and healing the toxic. I gave him wood hammer to deal some damage in case of emergency and rest to heal himself after coming in a couple times and heal himself and wake up with Lum Berry. His EVs are just to give him bulk so that he can survive as long as he can and do what he does as many times as he can.
The next step was to figure out what to do with the Pokemon as soon as it was trapped and leeched. So I figured I’d get a powerful and versatile sweeper to kill the pokemon as soon as it’s stuck and dying, so I went to Gyarados. I gave Gyarados Substitute with the idea of basically making him a SubSeeder. I figured that Dragon Dance would work well if I thought he could survive a few hits from the trapped pokemon so that he could build up and potentially sweep the rest of the team afterwards. Ice fang was to deal with dragon/flying types (namely Dragonite) and Waterfall is a great STAB move that can flinch the foe , so that’s a given. His stats were to make him a little bulky while still giving him some speed and attack to work with when he Dragon Dances. He’s holding leftovers to add on to his slight bulk and to help him heal back after a substitute.
In case Gyarados wouldn’t be able to take care of the trapped Pokemon, I added another sweeper that is a good partner for the big guy, Jolteon. Jolteon’s moves were pretty easy for me to decide on, Thunderbolt was a given, and substitute again for the SubSeed logic. Signal Beam is to deal with some Grass and Psychic types (like a pesky Celebii) and Wish can heal either Torterra or any other member of my team in a pinch. His stats were basically for him to outspeed many things and to hit them hard, and a couple points in health. I had a hard time picking Jolteon’s item… so I went with the ever-so-versatile Life Orb to power his attacks and letting him still support himself and the other members.
The third piece of the sweeping trifecta was a little difficult. I knew I needed something to counter steel and dragon types like Kingdra, so I thought I’d go with Heatran. His Flash Fire will help for him to switch into fire type attacks, obviously, but also his access to Dragon Pulse and Earth Power were great to finish off some holes in my attacks. I thought Overheat so that he’d have a powerful, and fairly reliable, fire attack to use with his STAB. Again I put substitute because I think that Heatran with a substitute is nasty enough even without a leech seed feeding his insatiable appetite. Heatran’s stats were so that he can hit as hard and as fast as he is capable of without a scarf. Heatran also has a Life Orb for the aforementioned reasons.
I needed a Pokemon that could not only set up Toxic Spikes, something that is incredibly necessary to kill stall pokemon like Blissey, but also to rapid spin away entry hazards that easily whittle away at this team, so Tentacruel came to mind. Tentacruel has great bulk and the EVs I put in him were chosen to outline that. He also has Hidden Power Electric to deal with water types that would resist his ice beam for a makeshift Bolt/Beam. He has Black Sludge to heal himself and to hurt any tricksters.
Choosing a lead for this team was fairly simple: I needed a lead that could hopefully keep other leads from setting up while still being useful later in the game. I read another RMT and that person had a Machamp lead and that was perfect. Machamp can easily 2HKO many common leads, and generally, anything that Machamp cannot deal with, Heatran can. His EVs are so that he has some bulk, a lot of attack, and enough speed to outspeed other uninvested base 55 speed Pokemon.

Conclusion
I have played with this team a few times and it has done very well, but I don’t know what it is missing, please provide comments and advice!! Thanks guys.

Yeah I realy would prefer it if you siplit up that monster paragraph and shifted points regarding pokemon under each pokemons comments.

Anyway this looks o.k. My main critisism is that Torrterra is extremely slow and block will only trap a switch in to Torrterra which is usualy a counter to it. Personally I think that a Baton Passing Umbreon with Meanlook/Wish/Baton Pass/Yawn can work over something like Jolteon and then you could change Torrterra into something like a Roserade, Celebi or Shaymin Sun seeder. Sub Seeders generally work better when they are faster than other pokemon.

One thing I noticed is that Tentacruel's sprite is actually tentacools, might wanna change it.

Anyways, I'm not sure if the torterra actually works, because if one pokemon has a super effective move, they can kill it. And that's it. Rest won't help much, because then they'll kill you again, but I dunno, if it works then I guess it works.

Gyarados is messed up, substitute shouldn't be on it and neither should ice fang. the evs are weird, try 4 HP/ 252 ATK/ 252 SPE. Replace ice fang and substitute with earthquake and stone edge.
