This is my second attempt at a RMT, and I think it has a lot of potential. Please help me out by identifying weaknesses/proposing counters and replacements. I appreciate the help!
First off, I NEED A LEAD!!! This is the one I am using for my other team and I really like it, but I foresee some issues...
Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Jolly
Serene Grace
EVs: 80 HP, 252 Attack, 176 Speed
Moveset:
Iron Head
Stealth Rock
Trick
U-Turn
I found this lead and really like the idea. U-Turn is for similar leads like another Jirachi or Azelf for good damage and a good switch in. Trick is for bulky leads like Swampert or Bronzong. If I catch them in Earthquake, which is likely since Jirachi is Steel, then I switch to Salamence and DD while they switch. If it is Bronzong or something not threatening to Jirachi, I can trick, then set up stealth rock and use Iron Head if it makes sense. For any other weaker, faster lead, Iron Head is used to hopefully kill them quick.
My concern is that I will get set up on with this set. I have had the opponent switch to Salamence or Dragonite after I Trick the lead into a pointless move, and as I switch to a counter, the opponents DD's, putting me in a bad spot since I don't have a really fast ice user. I do however, have Umbreon and Vaporeon, who can both take a hit. Please suggest another lead if it makes more sense. Jirachi also gives me a 3rd ground vulnerability...
Umbreon @ Chople Berry
Careful
EVs: 252 HP, 164 Speed, 92 Sp.Def
Moveset:
Wish
Mean Look
Yawn
Baton Pass
This is the foundation of my entire team. If this set works as well as I feel it should, then I can mess with my opponents to no end, healing constantly while trapping an enemy, putting him to sleep if I deem necessary, and switch to a counter or something that can set up and sweep. The idea of my team is simply this, Good Lead, Umbreon to set up the sweep, 3 sweepers that cover everything, and Vaporeon for taking hits, providing water support, and Wish pass to Umbreon to make sure he stays alive.
Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Bold
EVs: 188 HP, 252 Def, 68 Speed
Moveset:
Wish
Protect
Surf
HP Electric (or Ice Beam stopping a DD dragon or HP Grass if I find too much of a Swampert weakness...advice?)
This tank is another way to counter a lot of the pokemon that will switch in against my sweepers for the revenge kill (ground and water/ice pokes). The Wish support will keep my sweepers alive and more importantly, Umbreon alive. Need help figuring out the last move.
And Now onto the Sweepers... I am looking for 3 sweepers, at least one of which can set up (I will find a good opportunity to put an opponent in Mean Look and Yawn). I attempt to cover any opponent between the three without having a common weakness. Also I attempt to have both special and physical forces. Please suggest replacement sweepers if it makes sense.
Infernape @ Life Orb
Naive
EVs: 64 Atk, 192 Speed, 252 Sp.Atk
Moveset:
Flamethrower
Close Combat
Grass Knot
HP Ice
Mixed Sweeper with incredible coverage that doesn't require setup and doesn't get stuck on one move with a choice item. Grass Knot is for Swampert, which I will outspeed, and HP Ice is for Dragon coverage. I may want to put Nasty Plot in there, but don't know which coverage move to remove and whether I want two sweepers that have setup moves (although if the opponent is asleep and resists the one, having two would be amazing)
Lucario @ Life Orb
Adamant
EVs: 252 Attack, 4 Def, 252 Speed
Moveset:
Swords Dance
Close Combat
Extremespeed
Ice Punch (though if I have Ice moves on Vaporeon and/or Infernape, I would consider Crunch... advice?)
Great Physical sweeper with key resistances, though not too much more coverage beyond what Infernape had (maybe get rid of Infernape's Ice or change this to Crunch?) Anyway, with a Swords Dance setup or two, this thing could win the game for me due to its high power and versatility.
Salamence @ Life Orb (considering Choice Scarf)
Naughty
EVs: 232 Atk, 24 Sp.Atk, 252 Speed
Moveset:
Dragon Dance (would be Hydro Pump if going with Choice Scarf set)
Earthquake
Outrage
Fire Blast
Don't think I didn't notice my Ground and Flying weaknesses in my above sweepers. I cover that with Salamence, though I cannot decide on what set I want him to have. Choice would give me the speed to take on anything really, but if the opponent is under mean look and can't really hurt me, a few Dragon Dances + Outrage could win the game for me with ease (barring confusion...).
SUMMARY:
Strategy seems pretty simple, though I really need to solidify a Lead/Anti-Lead that compliments this team. If played right, I feel this team has a lot of potential if I can cover my weaknesses and prevent a counter sweep. Please comment on my strategy, movesets, pokemon choices and threats to my team. Thanks a lot for helping a noob out!
EDIT: Other sweepers that I highly considered include Alakazam, Tyranitar, and Latias. Let me know if these or any other are better suited for this team.
