SS OU OU Offense-Based Monodragon

Quick notes before I start:
-This is an OU team, but it is entirely composed of Dragon Type pokemon, hence the name.
-This team has been edited by myself multiple times, but I feel can be better. However, I'm trying to keep the team Monodragon
-All the nicknames are just their names backward.

noivern.gif

Nrevion (Noivern) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Boomburst
- Dark Pulse
- Dragon Pulse
- Flamethrower

Why Noivern? I find that Noivern is a pretty good Special Attack Sweeper when paired up with Choice Specs. Boomburst does the most base damage, and would normally be the go-to move when sending out Noivern. Noivern is usually the first team member that I will send out, especially if I see a Ferrothorn, an often-used setup Pokemon, which can be taken out with flamethrower. After that, I switch out. Noivern's role in this team as a main Special Attack Sweeper.

hydreigon.gif

Nogierdyh (Hydreigon) @ Choice Scarf / Choice Band
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Tail
- Outrage
- Crunch
- Head Smash

Hydreigon is the main Physical Attack Sweeper on this team, alongside Dracozolt. Hydreigon's Choice Scarf / Choice Band allows for his Outrage to become even stronger. His moveset: Aqua Tail is for coverage, Outrage is the main go-to move, Crunch is to take out Psychic types, and Head Smash is also for coverage. Hydreigon can often die quickly due to using outrage to OHKO a pokemon, which is followed up by a Fairy type, causing Hydreigon to be unable to switch out and therefore dying to the Fairy type. I can't help this though.

dragapult.gif

Tlupagard (Dragapult) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Curse
- Double-Edge
- Phantom Force
- Dragon Darts

Dragapult is also a Physical Attack Sweeper, but not one of the main ones. Dragon Darts is used as the main attack move and Double-Edge is for coverage while Phantom Force is used for annoying chip damage due to the Choice Scarf is to allow the user (Dragapult) to vanish before the opponent hits them on the turn Phantom Force is used. However, the Choice Scarf can also cause the 2nd turn of Phantom Force to be worse due to being able to be hit easier on the 2nd turn (at least thats how I think Phantom Force works... I'm not very sure). Curse is if Dragapult is unable to do much to the opposing team and cause large periodic damage to the enemy.

haxorus.gif

Suroxah (Haxorus) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Unnerve
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dragon Pulse
- Focus Blast
- Hyper Beam
- Surf

Haxorus is the Tertiary Special Attack Sweeper alongside Noivern and Flygon. Hyper Beam is for taking out tankier pokemon and Dragon Pulse is for a normal STAB move and Focus Blast and Surf are for coverage. His Choice Scarf allows for him to quickly take out any enemies before they can land a hit in. However, Haxorus is usually a backup if the Physical Attack Sweepers on this team have fainted. Haxorus can also prevent pesky healing via Berries if an opponent has any Pokemon that can regrow berries.

dracozolt.gif

Tlozocard (Dracozolt) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Fire Fang
- Earthquake
- Iron Tail

I placed Dracozolt on this team as a Choice Scarf Bolt Beak Dracozolt can be very deadly. Bolt Beak is the normal move to use when fighting Pokemon with no resistances to it or there's no better move to choose. Earthquake can take out other electric types, (especially ones with Volt Absorb or other electric-absorbing abilities if there is any), such as Tapu Koko. Fire Fang allows for coverage against Grass Types, and Iron Tail is for general coverage, giving Dracozolt a versatile and deadly moveset. As mentioned beforehand, Dracozolt's role on this team is as a Main Physical Attack Sweeper on this team alongside Hydreigon.

flygon.gif

Nogylf (Flygon) @ Choice Scarf / Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Bug Buzz
- Boomburst
- Earth Power
- Fire Blast

Flygon is meant to counter Electric types using Earth Power and is meant as a secondary Special Attack Sweeper behind Noivern and ahead of Haxorus, Choice Scarf can be used to allow for once again quickly taking down enemies, but I prefer building Choice Specs on Flygon, in order to make his Boomburst more deadly, similar to Noivern, so that Flygon can act similar to something like a second Noivern on the team. His Bug Buzz and Fire Blast are for coverage, while his Boomburst and Earth Power are his main sweeping moves.

More Notes:
- I'm looking for feedback on this team, including switching out Pokemon entirely if necessary. However, I would like if suggestions kept this team true as a Monodragon OU Team
- I've considered adding Dragalge to this team in order to counter Fairy types, but I'm not very sure who to switch out and what build to go for.

T H A N K S

A couple questions.
-Don't you think that using a choice item on every member restricts your choices immensely?
-Why are Flygon and Haxorus special, and why is hydreigon physical? (Especially Haxorus, it only has 60 Sp. Atk.)
-Why is this not a monotype team?

This seems like a great HO team. However, it really doesn't have the facets it needs to succeed as an HO team. I'll add some suggestions, keeping in mind mono-dragon because mono-dragon is a fire idea.

Suggestions:
  • Noivern as pokemon number 1 seems really nice for Mono-Dragon. Specs makes it a threatening wallbreaker. However, this doesn't mean it can break through Blissey. I suggest the moveset of Draco Meteor - Air Slash/Hurricane - Flamethrower - U-turn. Off the top of my head there aren't many Dark-weak targets that you can't break through with your stabs, so switching in U-turn allows you to pivot out of the pokemon you can't immediately break (Blissey, Tyranitar) and bring in a threatening physical sweeper.
  • Hydreigon is waaay better when used specially. This team also wants a breaker (after my edits), so I recommend the Nasty Plot Hydreigon set. Hydreigon being on this team is amazing, as it's a one-or-two-time switch-in to Spectrier, so props for that team pick. Try this set:
    [*]Hydreigon @ Life Orb
    Ability: Levitate
    EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Timid Nature
    IVs: 0 Atk
    - Nasty Plot
    - Draco Meteor
    - Dark Pulse
    - Flash Cannon
[*]I was really baffled on what coverage to use. Draco Meteor, Flash Cannon, and Nasty Plot are necessary, but the last move is confusing. Immediately one would think Roost, so you could break stall better and have more longevity, but then that would leave you stonewalled by Tran. Dark Pulse misses out on the longevity provided by Roost, but can at least hit most everything neutrally (although not too big a hit on Tran). Earth Power would eviscerate Heatran but then would leave you stonewalled by the Steel Birds. After a bit of chip, +2 Draco Meteor is KOing physdef steel birds. Run the calcs yourself as I really don't know what the fourth move should be.
    [*]
  • Dragapult is another nearly-mandatory dragon pokemon. However, Choiced physical sets are lackluster, since you don't have the coverage to hit mons you want to like Clefable. Phantom Force doesn't work in that scenario since because of Spectrier, every team needs a ghost resist, so the opponent can just switch into a ghost resist to take the hit. You said you changed it to Choice Band, but Choice Scarf seems nice here to help you against sweepers like Shift Gear Magearna (which admittedly mono-dragon is going to be weak to) and Regieleki, since I am planning on switching out Flygon later. In general it also makes your rain matchup better, since the rarer Kingdra is great against your team. Try this set:
    [*]Dragapult @ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Infiltrator
    EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
    Modest Nature
    - Draco Meteor
    - Shadow Ball
    - Thunder
    - U-turn
    [*]
  • Haxorus being in RU doesn't mean it doesn't have power. However, it really has no power when used specially (look how they massacred my boy). This set is a physical sweeper set that is making waves in RU, if it's not already banned. It still puts in work up in OU but the steel birds keep on existing. Mold Breaker is the ability of choice since berries are nearly non-existent in OU and Mold Breaker allows you to hit certain pokemon like Rotom-Heat with Earthquake and Shedinja with any move of choice.
    [*]Haxorus @ Lum Berry
    Ability: Mold Breaker
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Jolly Nature
    - Swords Dance
    - Scale Shot
    - Poison Jab
    - Close Combat
[*]This set once again has four moveslot syndrome. Toy around with Earthquake over Close Combat or something, along with team options like Flamethrower on Hydreigon to find out what works for you. It's really more of a preference thing.
    [*]

    [*]
  • Dracozolt is another great pokemon. I would recommend you switch Iron Tail to Dragon Claw or Outrage, since most of Iron Tail's targets already take a ton from Bolt Beak. The ability of choice is varied, though. Volt Absorb provides you with an Electric immunity for Regieleki (although you can just sack and bring in Scarfpult), Hustle gives you much-needed power against walls that take Volt Absorb relatively well, and Sand Rush can let you sweep opposing sand teams if you ever come across them. Given the fact that you are scarf and that you already have a Scarf Dragapult, I would recommend Hustle for power.
  • This team is a great HO team, with breakers (Hydreigon, Noivern, Dracozolt), Sweepers (Haxorus, Hydreigon), and cleaners (Scarf Pult, Dracozolt), but the one thing you're missing is a suicide lead. A Suicide lead would make a lot of sense here as it could help chip down things like the metal birds and Heatran into KO range of your other attacks, and frankly I'm not seeing Flygon's benefits here. Keeping the mono-dragon theme true, I would switch it out for the amazing suicide lead Druddigon. Try this set:
    [*]Druddigon @ Focus Sash
    Ability: Mold Breaker
    EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
    Jolly Nature
    - Stealth Rock
    - Dragon Tail
    - Glare
    - Taunt
[*]Druddigon is a great Suicide lead for your team. Mold Breaker allows it to set up rocks on Magic Bounce users such as Hatterene, but given their falling out of the meta Rough Skin to punish U-turn might make sense. Dragon Tail prevents opposing mons from setting up on you, Taunt does the same while stopping the opponent from setting up their own hazards, and Glare is great for helping Noivern, Hydreigon, and Haxorus, as their speed before possibly setting up is often lackluster.
    [*]
Mono-Dragon is a great idea in OU, and it's looking like a great team. Honestly I'm not playing OU atm (Holidays and all) but I might take a break and ladder with this team. I hope you liked my edits.

Edit:
Here is a Pokepaste so if you wanna try it out you just need to copy-paste it:

Please ask if you would like clarification on anything, or especially if I have missed something or made a mistake.
