SM OU OU Mega Absol Domination Team

Hi and welcome to my guide on this Mega Absol team I have made. I don't see Absol being played much so I wanted to make a team that could make it a viable pokemon and fun as well so I came up with this team. I really need help in improving this team so any advice will greatly and I mean will greatly be appreciated! I really want to use Absol more and have success with it so here we go...

absol.gif

Absol-Mega @ Absolite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Claw

The reason for this team. I chose knock off for the obvious help of getting rid of items. Sucker punch for priority and Fire Blast which is probably my favorite move for him because it helps to take care of Ferrothorn which would normally be a huge threat to Absol. Absol naturally has a above average Sp Atk so its more than enough to OHKO a Ferrothorn not running Sp Def stats. Lastly, shadow claw for stab damage.

zygarde.gif

Zygarde @ Figy Berry
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Coil
- Thousand Arrows
- Extreme Speed

The set up sweeper for the team. I picked Zygarde becuase his immunity against electric moves I felt was what this team needed. Dragon Dance for sweeping, Coil is for if I need more bulk. Thousand Arrows for strong stab and for flying/levitate and Extreme Speed for priority.

celesteela.gif

Celesteela @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 228 HP / 28 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Heavy Slam
- Flamethrower

Standard build. Leech Seed for sustain/constant damage, Protect for longevity/scouting. Heavy Slam for stab and flamethrower for grass and/or steel.Celesteela fits pretty well because of its high Sp Def and resistance to poison. It walls a pretty large amount of pokemon and helps me take control with leech seed.

zapdos.gif

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Discharge
- Roost
- Defog
- Toxic

I needed a pokemon to get rid of hazards and a pokemon to take hits from fighting moves for my Absol so I chose Zapdos mainly for that. I chose Toxic over Heatwave because I think I already have enough Pokemon with fire moves and since Zapdos is set up as a wall I might as well add Toxic.

toxapex.gif

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Knock Off
- Scald
- Baneful Bunker
- Haze

I think Toxapex is a good choice for the team. He has resistance to ice to protect Zygarde and Zapdos. I was gonna go with Recover but I think Haze is better because I realized I could be easily sweeped by Swords Dance Mega Pinsir, Mega Mawhile and Hawlucha.

kartana.gif

Kartana @ Choice Band
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Sacred Sword
- Smart Strike
- Knock Off

My late game sweeper. I really like the choice band because ensures knock outs better and it hits extremely hard with beast boost.

So that's the team. I have had some progress with this team but one problem I clearly see with this team is that I have no pokemon that are entry hazard setters and will kinda have to rely on my opponent to use it on my Absol's Magic Bounce.

hey! cool team, one quick suggestion, shadow claw is not stab for absol. I would suggest either trying swords dance for more sweeping power or ice beam for stuff like lando and just all around good coverage!

Ah you're right! Shadow Claw is more like a neutral attack for Absol and ice beam sounds like a good choice. Thanks!

Hello, this is a cool team that I think has a lot of potential even though it has its own weaknesses. Firstable, Electric-Types such as Zapdos and Tapu Koko are able to put in some work. Nothing really forces Zapdos out and Tapu Koko is also able to gain momentum with Volt Switch without risks as Zygarde is 2HKO'd by HP Ice (and it is not faster than koko). I also feel like Zygarde is a threat as your two Flying-Types are weak to Zygarde's TArrows, so it can setup on Toxapex or Celesteela for example, and then it's almost impossible to stop it. I don't see the point of Zapdos + Celesteela btw, because they basically check the same things like M-Scizor, Ferrothorn, M-Pinsir, etc while they both are pressured by the same Pokemon. Lastly, your team lacks speed control as well as some hazards.

Major Changes

As the first change of the rate, Clefable over Zapdos provides you some very nice things. This actually gives you a solid answer to Pokemon I brough up before like Zapdos and Zygarde (be careful of Iron Tail CB Variantes though). This also gives you the appreciated SR, that were clearly needed here and it forms a great defensive backbone in Clef/Pex/Steela as well. Standard Defense oriented spread here. I'd try Toxic as the last move, this is a cool option to annoy fat things in Balanced / BO and this would also help vs M-Swampert.

At this point, your team is slow, and you need something like a revenge killer. That's why Bulky Scarf Lando-T seems a very cool Pokemon here since it basically provides what I think you need. It would help against threats like Tapu Koko by pressuring it with EQ and U-Turn, and would also help Clefable dealing with the likes of Zygarde and M-Medicham. Bulky Spread to take on better these Pokemon as well as others like Char X.

Minor Changes

As someone suggested, Ice Beam over Shadow Claw could be really cool here, being able to lure in Ground-Types like Lando-T to support Zygarde is great as well.

I'd run a SubDD set here, since this is the best set to use along TSpikes, and the actual one you're using has a niche only in Veils imo.

I'd just change that spread to the smogon mixed one to check better things like Kartana.

I'd run TSpikes over Knock Off and Recover over Baneful Banker. The first change is great, especially paired with Zygarde that likes the support given by hazards. The second change is very mandatory, you rely too much on Regen otherwise. I'd also run another spread, a full SpD spread in order to check things like Ash Greninja.
