~~Kalos 2: The Art of War~~
Hello Smogon. For those who do not know me, I'm OiawesomeDG, commonly referred to as Oiawesome, and Oiawesome on PS. This is my 4th ever RMT and my 1st one here in other teams! ^_^, my other one is one made about 2 weeks ago called "Goldfish- XY OU Stall" and yes while this might be a bit soon, and don't worry I'm not turning into Dr Ciel, I have decided to retire an old team of mine I like to call "The Art of War". Anyways, let me explain what Kalos 2 is, Kalos 2 was the first Gen 6 Pet mod to originally be created and it was made by, myself and a few other good friends of mine, also known as, the development team of Kalos 2. So with Beta 3 becoming closed beta- soon enough open beta- and Beta 2 coming to the end of it's life cycle, I thought I would retire one of my classic teams that caused a big uproar and popularized Trick Room Offense in Kalos 2.

Here's the link to the Kalos 2 thread to see the changes in Kalos 2 from regular OU, you'll need it to rate this RMT!

Team Building
233.png

Porygon2
Yeah, Porygon2, the thing you all thought would be top RU/mid UU this gen, and it's probably going to be, but NOT in Kalos 2. When originally developing this team I came in with the intention of showing everybody that lesser used playstyles like TR are viable in Kalos 2, and boy was I right, too right. In the development of Beta 2 I gave pory 2 a little defensive tweak thinking it would amount to not much more bulk. Along with that and 7 turn auto TR on switchin due to Dimension Warp and you get an S rank monster. Anyways, as I was building a TR tea, auto TR was pretty obvious, and in Kalos 2, Porygon2 is basically the messiah of TR.

Porygon2/Mega Abomasnow/Victini
So basically, looking at TR nukes, I looked no further than Mega Abomasnow. MegaSnow provides nice scald resistance, ability to pivot into unboosted manaphy in TR, and other unique abilities. In addition to that, it had fantastic stats for TR. And who on TR has perfect synergy both offensively and defensively with megasnow? Victini of course! it can take those dirty fire and fighting moves aimed at Victini, and handle Victini's biggest problem in Kalos 2: Regirock

Porygon2/Mega Abomasnow/Victini/Heracross
Anyways, I needed an answer for opposing bulky normals like the new and improved Slack Off Lax and DWarp Porygon2, and with guts, Choice Band, under TR and elemental punches for Doublade and Landorus-T respectively. Overall Herra just made a great edition to this team, checking many threats.

Porygon2/Mega Abomasnow/Victini/Heracross/Cresselia/Regirock
So, basically, I needed a check to Victini, and with Regirocks new + Recover it instantly become one hell of a pivot. Plus with new SR mechanics it could absorb SR and set it at the same time! I thought to what had perfect synergy with it, and I saw, Cresselia! I'd been experimenting with a new offensive LO roost cress set, so I thought, why the hell not? and I added it.
In Depth
So you've all seen the team from teambuilding stance and from a glance, but how does it REALLY look? Well you're about to find out

Overview
The all star of the team, right in the front. Porygon2, as previously stated, is one of my favorite pokemon in Kalos 2. Anyways, after the popularization of this team and Trick Room in general, Porygon2 quickly became one of the best pokemon in the Kalos 2 OU metagame. Porygon2's increased bulk along with Dimension Warp made him an unstoppable support mon which made TR extremely viable in the metagame. And just like his predecessor, Beta 2 Hoopa(or the dev teams assumption of what hoopa would be basically) w/ Dimension Warp, he stormed the metagame crushing non TR offense and basically forcing the metagame into a position where nothing but Priority Spam, TR offense, anti-TR offense, stall or bulky offense could be used. The main reason for Toxic > Thunder Wave is that, in TR, that'd basically like skill swapping a pokemon speed boost. It also helps to break down opposing walls and CM Cresselia. Tri Attack is actually risky cause it has a chance to paralyze the foe. Overall, just use Porygon2, it rocks and it's pretty much the best support pokemon in the metagame.

Herra can take status due to guts and the TR versions can abuse Dimension Warp and threaten you with a CB CC. Just switch to Cresselia or Victini
  • 534.png
    Same as herra p much.
  • 488.png
SubCM Cress is the real threat, it can absorb toxic due to sub and set up all the way to +6 for free on your ass, just switch to Victini. Trick Room from support cress/anti-TR cress can reverse TR and remove your TR, so be careful when playing against cress, the best option is jsut to toxik it.

Ice Shard | Ice Beam | Giga Drain | Focus Blast

Overview
When there's a playa's ball of Trick Room sweepers, Mega Abomasnow does not miss out. MegaSnow is a crushing force of nature, with Ice Shard and Analytic outside of TR and a strong dual STAB + FOcus Blast for inside TR, it's very much so a threat. One of the biggest threats to this team that lures out Victini, Scizor, gets 2HKOd by Quiet Focus Blast. Anyways, Giga Drain is mainly for longevity over Energy Ball. Te real question is Ice Beam over Blizzard, which I chose because it lets me sweep for longer than the initial time I bring it in, as the rest of the times I bring it in, it doesn't get hail backing itself up. Mega Abomasnow is frankly amazing in this metagame. It 2HKOs a lot of things and handles offensive threats like Staraptor and Tornadus. And without it, I'd probably be packing something dumb, or I'd be packing Kyurem_B, which frankly is too fast for this team, as even Victini gets V-Create to "boost it's speed".

Calculation Center:
  • 252+ SpA Mega Abomasnow Giga Drain vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Gyarados: 296-350 (86.5 - 102.3%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO

Talonflame is just really fucking annoying. It can take an Ice Shard and just annoy you with the threat of priority which bypasses TR. Wary of Ice Beam on the switch.
  • 534.png
It can take at least 1 ice beam and live to mach punch it or drain punch it.
  • 494.png
Victini can take any hit, and KO back with V-Create and soak up the momentum + the TR "speed boost" due to V-Create. The special sets can just blue flare it. And the defensive/special defensive set can just WoW it and use it as set up bait for wishes n stuff.

Megahorn | Ice Punch | Fire Punch | Close Combat

Overview
Fuck every normal the gets in the way of this team, Hera is here to CRUSH them. Between the all new Fire Punch and Ice Punch buffs and it's previous amazing dual STAB, it can easily go toe to toe with many of the tiers walls and break them. Hera's main flaw is the bitch known as Cresselia getting in the way, however with support from ToxikGon2 it can easily lure out and beat cress let it rampage through many teams. I think this teams main reason for success was this, without it, I would honestly be weak to many things in the Kalos 2 metagame. Hera also cold stops Tran from spiking on this team, and also deals with things like revenging bulky Grasses (like Aboma). Overall just a very threatening mon to deal with and a very powerful tool to use.

Roost | Moonblast | Earth Power | Trick Room

Overview
Ah Cresselia, the Queen of Kalos. Cresselia stands as one of the best pokemon in Kalos 2 due to it's combination of amazing bulk, good movepool, great typing, 2 very good abilities and very much so usable offense. Lets focus on that last part a bit. Cresselia nad offense aren't exactly what you would think would be in a sentence together without a "counters" between then (Cresselia counters offense). Anyways, Fairy Aura,a SpA buff along with STAB Fairy Moonblast gave it the push it required to becmoe an offensive threat on bulky offense and trick room. STAB FairyBlast is actually quite strong, not as strong as GeoXerns, but still, very strong for something of that bulk. Roost ensures it's survival through LO and switching into top threats multiple times. As this is a trick room team, it has to have trick room so I have more than 1 TR supporter. Earth Power is awesome coverage and hits Heatran for a clean OHKO, it also 2HKOs most fire type switch ins to moonblast. PRAISE CRESSELIA.

Recover | Earthquake | Stone Edge | Stealth Rock
Overview
The perfect partner to Cress? This guy :). I run Stone Edge over rock lside because it has a chance to OHKO Victini after SR while Rock Slide doesn't unfortunately. I mainly use EQ > Drain Punch because of the huge usage of Tran in the metagame, and less tran means less problems with Victini and Mega Aboma sweeping. Regirock is fucking ridiculous, It counters Victini, unlike Rhydon due to not weak to Pixilate Return, pretty much #1 offensive threat in the meta rn. Recover was a blessing in Kalos 2, letting him easily sponge hits and not give a single fuck. With Recover and new top threats for Regirock to handle, it's no wonder Regirock rose to fame on this team's back.

Overview

BARN ALL. Basically, Victini is one of the biggest offensive threats in the Kalos 2 OU metagame. Why you ask? Because it received a Fairy typing and pixilate to go along with it. This opened so much doors for Victini because it can now OHKO Ttar, Rhydon(new fighting type rhydon) and some Rotom-W. Victini also still keeps V-Create, and with the buff of trick room, it only gets better with it. Bolt Strike HKOs sdef and trick room attacker Heatran. If you try to face this thing without a Regirock, prepare to be demolished. Quick Attack + CB + Pixilate is awesome for revenge killing and for out of TR sweeping n shit. overall a deadly threat and pretty cute too :c.

From a glance this team looks like it can be quite effective. It's got very good coverage on the offensive mons and the ability to get Trick Room going on two different mons. I've used Porygon and it's easy my favorite mon in Kalos 2 at the moment, though I really need to play more since I've done maybe 3 matches so far. That said, I see this team as having a lot of power through it's heavy hitters when Trick Room is active: Abomasnow, Heracross, and Victini. Though getting them in unharmed looks to be difficult due to the lack of Volt Turn on this team. All three of them have no Recovery and have no boosting moves, which means that they can only get a sweep if their coverage is strong enough to punch heavy holes in the opposition. I believe that having one Pokemon that is bulky and rather fast (so they go last in TR) would allow a Volt Switch into one of these heavy hitters. While these three can cause a lot of damage in TR, if they are caught without TR up, they are in trouble because all the mons on this team have minus speed. I've got a lot of work to do before I can consider myself a skilled TR player in Kalos 2, but I think that having one Pokemon as a fast revenge killer could benefit the team, when setting up TR isn't possible (no porygon) or will result in heavy causalities. Other than that, it looks like a strong team that could end games pretty fast if played right.
