Onix @ Eviolite
Ability: Weak Armor
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 76 SpD / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- High Horsepower
- Rock Blast
- Explosion
Onix is an LC staple due to its access to Stealth Rock and ability to consistently switch into Vullaby thanks to its typing, Speed, and access to Weak Armor. High Horsepower and Rock Blast work well with each other to hit relevant targets such as Mienfoo, Vullaby, and Pawniard. Explosion allows Onix to deal massive damage to foes such as Trapinch, Foongus, and Mienfoo and maintain offensive momentum by preventing Scraggy from safely setting up and Staryu from clearing entry hazards. Onix's ability to check Vullaby is appreciated by Foongus and Ferroseed, both of which are very prone to it. The two Grass-types in return help Onix by switching into Grass- and Water-type attacks from foes such as Grookey and Staryu. Foongus additionally offers a check to Fighting-types, while Ferroseed is able to check Porygon. Vullaby is another option that benefits Onix defensively, as it provides a Ground-immune and Grass-resistant Pokemon that can also deal with Fighting-types like Mienfoo and Timburr.
