Terrakion @ Life Orb
name: Swords Dance (Rock)
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat
- Upper Hand / Earthquake
[SET COMMENTS]
Swords Dance Terrakion is an immensely strong wallbreaker for Rock teams thanks to its incredible STAB combination in conjunction with its good Speed that lets it outspeed common threats to Rock teams such as Iron Treads, Garchomp, and Landorus. Stone Edge allows Terrakion to nail Primarina and Gliscor that could otherwise take on Close Combat. Close Combat complements Stone Edge perfectly and is Terrakion strongest STAB attack, allowing it to target Steel-types such as Archaludon and Iron Treads. Upper Hand lets Terrakion circumvent priority such as Breloom's Mach Punch, Scizor's Bullet Punch, and Keldeo's Vacuum Wave, with +2 Upper Hand OHKOing Scizor and Keldeo after Stealth Rock damage and always OHKOing Breloom. Alternatively, Earthquake can be used over Upper Hand, allowing Terrakion to more easily threaten Gholdengo, Toxapex, and Clodsire super effectively. Life Orb allows Terrakion to clock important OHKOs, such as on Corviknight and Galarian Weezing with Close Combat and Stone Edge, respectively, after Stealth Rock chip damage and a Swords Dance boost.
Hisuian Arcanine forms a potent wallbreaking core with Terrakion against Steel teams. Hisuian Arcanine can also threaten physically defensive Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Sinistcha for Terrakion; In return, Terrakion can weaken some of its checks like Archaludon, Swampert, and Gliscor. Ogerpon-C can threaten Ground- and Water-type Pokemon for Terrakion, such as Hippowdon, Great Tusk, and Primarina, as well as being able to beat common shared checks with Terrakion, such as Toxapex and Landorus-T. Iron Boulder can deal with Poison- and Fighting-types for Terrakion; such as Pecharunt, Okidogi, and Keldeo. Iron Boulder can also use a Choice Scarf to revenge kill faster Pokemon that would otherwise outspeed Terrakion such as Iron Valiant, Meowscarada, and Sneasler. Tyranitar can set hazards up as well as check Psychic-type Pokemon such as Latios and Latias for Terrakion. In return, Terrakion can deal with common Steel-types such as Archaludon and Iron Treads for it. Glimmora can scare out Fairy- and Grass-types such as Hatterene, Clefable, and Hydrapple while also providing Toxic Spikes, which can chip down targets such as Iron Hands and Garchomp, as well as hazard remova, which helps Terrakion not get worn down by hazards. Garganacl can switch into most walls such as Corviknight, Amoonguss, and Toxapex and force progress against them with Salt Cure. Purifying Salt lets it absorb status effects that may be aimed at Terrakion, such as Toxic from Clodsire and Will-O-Wisp from Sableye and Dragapult. Shell Smash users such as Drednaw and Minior appreciate Terrakion's ability to punch holes into the opposing team so that they can sweep more effectively.
