* Mega Diancie's unique typing allows it to be a powerful mixed wallbreaker in the tier, since its coverage is quite difficult to pivot around for standard defensive structures, against Pokemon such as Ho-Oh, Zygarde, Arceus-Dark, Yveltal and Giratina-O. This typing also has niche defensive utility, allowing Mega Diancie to be a soft-check to Yveltal, Rayquaza and unboosted Mega Salamence. Its ability in Magic Bounce plays a vital role against Hyper Offense structures barring Trick Room, since being able to deny entry hazard leads such as Deoxys-S, Smeargle and Shuckle, effectively anti-leading them, is great for defensive partners such as Primal Groudon and support Arceus formes that cannot hold Heavy-Duty Boots. Mega Diancie is also fantastic against Stall because of this ability, since it counters Giratina and Eternatus variants lacking Sludge Bomb. This role compression makes Mega Diancie a fantastic tool for bulky offense teams that need a Pokemon that does well against all forms of playstyle in the tier, if positioned correctly.
* Earth Power is necessary to hit Primal Groudon, Necrozma-DM and Zacian-C super effectively, allowing Mega Diancie to punish them for recklessly switching in.
* Since Mega Diancie is able to beat all the common Defog users in the tier, including Ho-Oh, Giratina-O, and Yveltal, it makes for a powerful Stealth Rock user, being able to make progress against predicted switches from Arceus-Dark or Rayquaza. If the team already has a Stealth Rock user, such as Primal Groudon, Substitute is a viable alternative, still punishing switches, as well as giving Mega Diancie the chance to wallbreak further thanks to the Substitute protecting it from faster threats such as Marshadow or Zacian-C. Substitute also lets Mega Diancie block Nuzzle from Smeargle, effectively walling it while denying Sticky Web. Spikes is also a viable option, but Mega Diancie's poor longevity means it cannot stack multiple Spike layers throughout a game consistently, even if it aids greatly in wallbreaking similarly to Stealth Rock.
* The given EV spread allows Mega Diancie to 2HKO Blissey with Diamond Storm, avoid the 2HKO from Life Orb Yveltal's Dark Pulse, while outspeeding neutral-nature base-120 Speed Pokemon such as Arceus, Mega Salamence, and Palkia-O.
* Mega Evolving Diancie should be done as soon as possible to make the most out of Magic Bounce, which is needed to bounce back status conditions from Giratina-O, Alomomola and Eternatus, as well as to deny entry hazards from Ferrothorn and Primal Groudon, even if the latter is quite risky due to Mega Diancie's poor bulk. It should be noted that Mega Diancie can induce mind games against Mud Shot Glimmora when anti-leading it, since Clear Body pre-Mega Evolution protects Diancie from Mud Shot's Speed drop, which Mega Evolving to obtain Magic Bounce wouldn't protect it from, meaning Mega Diancie can decide not to Mega Evolve to more easily 2HKO Glimmora and deny it from setting up entry hazards. This process is quite difficult to pull-off though, since it is effectively a coinflip as to whether Glimmora uses Stealth Rock or Mud Shot.
* Although Mega Diancie can easily switch in and remove it via Diamond Storm, it should be careful around Ho-Oh, since Sacred Fire possibly burning Mega Diancie is a massive hinderace to its wallbreaking capabilities, especially against Stall teams, where Pressure from Giratina and Eternatus quickly drains Diamond Storm's limited PP. Diamond Storm should not be recklessly spammed, as its needed to actually break through these cores in Stall and fat balance teams.
* Mega Diancie struggles against Primal Groudon, Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM, Zacian-C and Primal Kyogre, since they are all able to withstand its attacks and OHKO it back with ease, or in Zacian-C's case, outspeed and setup on it first. On the bulky offense teams Mega Diancie fits well on, a defensive backbone is essential to control these threats. Zygarde is able to control Primal Groudon with ease; Tera Water sets can also contain Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM for Mega Diancie, while Tera Fairy variants shut down Dragon Dance Zygarde, who is able to use Mega Diancie as setup fodder with Tera Ground removing its Moonblast weakness. Yveltal can either utilise Choice Scarf to revenge-kill Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM and boosted Zacian-C for Mega Diancie, or it can use its Life Orb set with Sucker Punch to revenge-kill Ultra Necrozma and Deoxys-A for Mega Diancie instead; Yveltal and Mega Diancie additionally form a potent wallbreaking duo for the team. Finally, defensive Primal Groudon can form a strong hazard-stacking duo with Mega Diancie, the latter beating Giratina-O in return, while offensive Primal Groudon sets appreciate Mega Diancie setting entry hazards for it to more easily wallbreak; both sets are able to handle Zacian-C and Primal Kyogre for Mega Diancie.
* The aforementioned Choice Scarf Yveltal is an especially good teammate since it can pivot into Mega Diancie via U-turn, which is an important need from Mega Diancie due to its poor bulk, pivoting into the bulkier foes such as Coil Zygarde and defensive Ho-Oh that Choice Scarf Yveltal forces in from Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM. Another pivoting teammate includes Landorus-T, who checks Zacian-C and Dragon Dance Arceus-Ground for Mega Diancie too, while letting Mega Diancie run Substitute or Spikes as it commonly runs Stealth Rock. Life Orb Yveltal, as well as other offensive teammates such as Choice Band Marshadow and Meteor Beam Eternatus, all appreciate Mega Diancie setting entry hazards for them to break through defensive cores more easily, with the latter two Pokemon also appreciating Mega Diancie pressuring Stall teams early on, for them to clean up afterwards.
