SS OU Offense Pangoro + Nidoking

Introduction

Hi friends! I am back here writing another RMT. This is one of my many teams I have had A LOT of fun with. I know, the core sounds a bit weird but it's hella fun. Just hear me out, and maybe.. hopefully you can try this team for yourself! Also, always feel free to comment anything. If you want to say anything about the team in DM's, or just want to talk in general, feel 110% free to do that. PS Username is "vNatFly" I am almost always free on weekends to battle. Anyway, I have been talking for a long time now. Let's start talking about the team, shall we?

:ss/pangoro: :ss/nidoking:

Team

:shuckle:

Yes... Shuckle... LMAO. Obviously, this is an offensive team. As you can tell, this core is absurdly slow. I think adding something like Shuckle to set up Webs would help my team with speed control. It is also running Stealth Rocks.. well.. because they are good. Sort of self explanatory. I am not sure if it is worth throwing in Shuckle for the Webs or I could replace it with something like Landorus-Therian to keep the team more "Offensive" because Shuckle in my opinion is passive.

:shuckle: :pangoro:

Unfortunately (for me), Urshifu got banished to the Uber. That was very sad for me because I liked to pair it with Nidoking and the two were literally BLOWING UP walls. Yes, I know Pangoro is slower and weaker but Pangoro is still pretty strong don't get me wrong. I thought I could try Pangoro to fill that same role Urshifu did. Again, obviously it won't be the same because Urshifu's very skillful Wicked Blow spam was busted OP. In my opinion, Pangoro is pretty underrated and that probably is because of it's lackluster speed tier, but I do have Shuckle for the Sticky Web support which may help in some scenarios. If you tell me "Oh PaNgOrO iS oUtClAsSeD! RePlAcE aSaP!" I probably will be stubborn and not listen because using this thing is VERY fun and I don't look forward to replacing it.

:shuckle: :pangoro: :nidoking:

Nidoking is my second wallbreaker. Nidoking is one of my favorites in OU right now because of it's god tier coverage. Unfortunately, it is another Special Attacker walled by Chansey and Blissey. Although, I can hard swap in to Pangoro for some fat damage on things coming in or straight up 0hko the Blissey. Nidoking can check things that can annoy Pangoro, like Tangrowth. Nidoking resists Fairy meaning it can swap in to Fairy types that may annoy Pangoro because Pangoro is quad weak to Fairy, an example is Clefable. Clefable can take a hit and 0hko Pangoro with ease.

:shuckle: :pangoro: :nidoking: :volcarona:

Maybe you guys saw this one coming, Volcarona. If you can't tell, my team gets absolutely fucked by Magearna. While keeping an offensive presence and keeping out Magearna, Volcarona was definitely the best answer. I absolutely love using Volcarona. This is because it has INSANE sweeping mentality, enough natural bulk to swap in to Magearna with ease and use it as set up fodder. Volcarona doesn't really WANT to but it can swap in to Melmetal and kill it on +1 (I believe). One thing I do not like about Volcarona is it is walled by Toxapex. If you will use Volcarona I would suggest something FOR Toxapex or else it will turn in to a stall-fest. I am currently just using Nidoking for it, so far I have not seen any issues with Toxapex though.

:shuckle: :pangoro: :nidoking: :volcarona: :tapu koko:

Tapu Koko is my offensive Pivot. I can take advantage of things like the "metal birbs", Toxapex, or Mandibuzz by clicking U-turn on them and getting something in for free... assuming your opponent isn't a psychopath and stays in. Tapu Koko can also help deal with Rain teams by removing the Rain with it's Electric Terrain, and obviously threaten things that appear on Rain teams like Barraskewda/Keldeo/Urshifu-Rapid-Strike.

:shuckle: :pangoro: :nidoking: :volcarona: :tapu koko: :dragapult:

Finally, Dragapult. Dragapult is my late game cleaner. Dragapult comes in in the very end when things are heavily chipped via Stealth Rocks or Nidoking//Pangoro. Thanks to it's insane speed tier, Dragapult can run Choice Specs while still outspeeding almost every Pokemon if it isn't holding a Choice Scarf. Now, It isn't really worth running Choice Scarf because of Phermosa's ban. Dragapult practically needs the Specs to deal good damage and clean efficiently because it's base Special Attack stat is 100 which is below average in my opinion. Dragapult still makes a great revenge killer though because of it's 130 powered STAB, Draco Meteor. Dragapult really screws over offensive teams 2hko'ing pretty much everything you send out. Dragapult can also pivot if it is an unfavorable match up.

no outro, but please give any advice/criticism c: bye!
also, I tend to suck at typing and have shitty grammar, if you catch any of that just lmk in a friendly manner (:

Hello. Pangoro is an interesting pick, especially with Sticky Web support. I hope it's been working well for you.
I have some suggestions that I think could improve the team.

:Tapu Koko: Dual Screen > Offensive Pivot: I find that if you're going to use Sticky Web with offensive Pokemon, it's often best to go the whole way and maximise the offensive potential as much as possible. By using a screen setter you make it much harder for the opponent to KO your Pokemon, giving them more opportunities to attack or set up. Alternatively to Tapu Koko, you can use Regieleki which is faster and has Rapid Spin support as well as Explosion to grab instant momentum.

:Pangoro: Swords Dance > Choice Band: With Sticky Web + Dual Screen support it makes a lot of sense to use setup sweepers. With Swords Dance you can overwhelm Pokemon like Toxapex and Clefable more easily without needing to make correct predictions every turn due to Choice Band locking you in to one move. I suggest using Lum Berry as the item to heal status like Toxic or Scald Burn from Toxapex, Thunder Wave from Ferrothorn, Toxic from Hippowdon etc. But you can also use Life Orb to boost your attacking power.

:Volcarona: Psychic > Roost: As I said, I believe you should focus on optimising this as an offensive team. Psychic is a crucial coverage move for hitting Toxapex who otherwise shuts down this set completely. It also hits Pokemon like Tapu Fini and Moltres a little harder, as well as letting you hit the much rarer Keldeo.

:Dragapult: Dragon Dance > Choice Specs (optional): This is a change you can try to take advantage of Dual Screen support. Although Dragon Dance Dragapult is generally not a great set, it can work in some situations. I suggest using a set with Leftovers and Substitute + Phantom Force, this can be used to maintain HP after setting up. Substitute also lets you avoid status and Sucker Punch from Pokemon like Cinderace and Bisharp. There are other options for this set like a coverage move instead of Substitute, a mixed DD set with Weakness Policy etc. You could always just keep the Choice Specs set, or experiment with other cleaners like Dragon Dance Dragonite which is a great Water-resist for hyper offense teams in my experience.

I like your suggestions, and I am not too sure about Psychic over roost... I mean my team is not walled by Toxapex by any means. Toxapex still wins 1v1 if I stay in. I will try running Regieleki over Koko to see how that goes. Also, I strongly dislike the Dragapult set, I know that was optional but I think im better off with the Specs one because it has been working for me, very well. Life Orb and Swords Dance sounds cool on Pangoro to abuse the screens a little bit, I'll give that a try.

It's a good idea for a team considering Urshifu-SS's absence, however, there are a few issues with trying to put Pangoro in this team:

1. It takes up a slot and forces a fairy weakness, as well as a weakness to momentum mons using Volt Switch and U-Turn (which you have barely any reliable punishment for without sacrificing the team's momentum itself to eliminate threats).

2. It takes up a spot for Gapdos, which optimally works much better in this deck. The team also has no punishment for Defog, meaning once a defogger comes in webs are gone (and if you go with this other person's changes so are screens). To add, it clears the big Ground Weakness this team has with little-to-no recovery with Nidoking, Shuckle, and Elelki/Koko being weak to Ground.

I feel as though the team should also worry about setup, being as you only have one mon that does it and even then it isn't that good. Really when it comes to webs teams they require setup and hard-hitters, and with Pangoro gone it would be wise to have Koko or Rilla for Lele, which quickly causes a potential 6-0 for this team already.

Not to offend, but the team has a ton of holes as I'm mid-type that can't be patched as it is and lead into a huge rabbit hole that needs its own essay, and the team doesn't really get far. Even with my few changes you have to make more adjustments until the team is completely different. Run it as you will, just be aware this team isn't exactly the most functional or useful.

Have fun :)

I don't think webs are actually that useful on this team as is, since dragapult and regieleki are too fast to need webs, and pangoro is so slow it gets outsped by gengar and kartana AFTER webs if its adamant, and there are a lot of things faster than gengar and kartana in the meta. Pangoro is just in that weird tier that it can outspeed walls, but is way too slow to outspeed offensive threats even with webs, unless it runs jolly which cuts into its hitting power, and even then it's not that fast. So basically webs don't really allow it to outspeed many things that it wouldn't already, considering some things outspeed it after webs and some are immune to web. the only members of your team that really benefit from webs are nido(which is great with webs) and volcarona in some specific circumstances. I also don't personally think webs are that good in the current meta, which has a lot of walls that don't really care about them, and all the fast pivots like zera, ace, pult, koko tend to carry HDB or hydreigon,lando,tornadus... which just fly over them.
So in conclusion I would kick shuckle and replace him with something else, and if you want to keep him consider swapping pangoro to jolly, as it would make him go from outspeeding base 98s to outspeeding base 111s with webs (kartana, gengar, chomp are notable here, also i think it would make you no longer tie urshifu-rs)

The whole idea was to have fun with Pangoro and possibly sweep. I don't mean to be rude, I don't care if it is "outclassed" or brings a Fairy weakness (which Nidoking can resist). What Fairy types are common this meta? Magearna, Clefable etc. I can literally go Volcarona on Magearna and just 0hko it with Fire Blast. Lets be real, Clefable is not hard to wall.. Nidoking literally walls it and 0hko's. I think I'll be fine, thanks though (:

EDIT: Uh... unfortunately, as you go on Pangoro just can't really do it's thing EVEN WITH screens because it's lackluster speed tier just screws it over. It will almost always move last and if something somewhat offensive hits you, you will take a lot of damage. As much as it hurts me I guess I need to replace it. If anybody has suggestions feel free to let me know ig.. I'm thinking Gyarados but I don't know.

Gapdos and Rillaboom are still staring at you sir :psyglad:

YES... Rilaboom. Cool idea, I am not the type to use the "fonny monke" known as RIlaboom on every team like most people, but here it does make sense because it synergizes decently with Nidoking. Nice..

Dragapult @ Focus Sash
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Dragon Darts
- Phantom Force
- Sucker Punch/Fire Blast
- Dragon Dance

(change the 4SpA to 4 SpD if you choose sucker punch and change nature to adamant)

I strongly recommend this set for Dragapult instead of specs set.
Attack is it's higher attacking stat so you should capitalize on that. Focus Sash allows you to get a guaranteed dd off (assuming there are no hazards)
Getting the dd boost allows you to outspeed most if not all common choice scarfers especially after webs. Boosted + STAB Dragon Darts and Phantom Force destroy teams late game, I've clutched many games solely with this set. Sucker punch can be used to counter another sucker punch or secure a kill whereas Fire Blast can be used to kill fire types and threatening Ice types like Weavile.

I guess I will give it a shot because I have been told this SO many times now...
