"OFF THE GRID"

Introduction.

I've been cooking up a team based on Diancie-M + Tornadus-T core. The main idea of this build was the offensive capabilities that this core offers and its great synergy. Tornadus-T can break some of Diancie's checks, such as grass types in general, and heavily damage steels with Focus Blast, bringing-in Diancie with U-Turn as well. In return, Diancie threats Flying resistant such as Zapdos.

I started with these two as the core, instead of the final Diancie-Torna core. In paper, it was very good, because Garchomp was able to break Steel-types easily and OHKO Zapdos with a +2 Continental Crush. Also, the type synergy was fantastic.
1636300565204.png
Decided to add Ferro as the Tapu Koko main check, as well as helping a lot with Water mons.
1636303007979.png
In order to protect the team from Fighting-breakers such as Medicham-M or Lopunny-M, Mew was integrated.
1636299891794.png
Diancie entered as the Special Breaker of the team, blasting powerful moves such as Moonblast and was another way to thread Zapdos.
1636303392010.png
Finally, I added A-Muk as a check to the Volcarona and as Dark resistant. Then, the major changes started, such as
1636303514885.png
>
1636303392010.png
, because Muk couldn't get to damage back mons like Tyranitar, but did get OHKO in return with Earthquake. Also, My team was a little weak to Greninja-Ash. Then, I noticed that the team needed a solid Speed control, so I deduced that

, and gave the Flyinum Z to Tornadus-T. Looked a little more solid, so I tested it out. The results were awful, because I couldn't break through Celesteela, Ferrothorn or Skarmory for example. At least, Tornadus and Diancie worked well. So then, an idea came to my mind. What if

? Yeah, I tested a Firium Z Tornadus-T, and did not went as expected. Couldn't kill none of the steel threads, and was even more weak to Heatran. Finally, I thought of Victini, BandedTini to be specific. But then, I prefered to run ScarfTini and defensive Lando. Replaced Mew with Victini. So

. The final team ended up looking like this:

Diancie-Mega @ Diancite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Protect
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm

- Earth Power

Diancie is a great wallbreaker with excellent STAB moves, which is the main reason I chose this mon. Fairy-Rock with 160 in both offensive stats is lethal, breaking through defensive mons like Zapdos with Diamond Storm, and dealing a big amount of damage to neutral targets with Moonblast. Earth Power is mandatory to hit Heatran and other Ground-weak Pokémon. Protect is crucial in this set, as it helps the rest of the team to control Choice users such as Kartana. Hasty nature is prefered over Naive, so it can eat a Flamethrower from Zard Y prior to the megaevoloution.

Tornadus-Therian (M) @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 88 HP / 160 SpA / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

- Hurricane
- Focus Blast
- U-turn

- Defog

Tornadus-T is a beast. This set allows Torna to lure Heatran and Ferrothorn with Focus Blast or going for All-Out Pummeling. U-Turn is excellent for obvious reasons, giving momentum to the team. I chose Tornadus as the Defogger of the team because it forces out mons constantly, giving it free Defog. The Ev's spread allows Torna to stomach an Ice Beam from Protean Greninja and Kartana's powerful moves better.

252 SpA Protean Greninja Ice Beam vs. 88 HP / 8 SpD Tornadus-Therian: 270-320 (84.1 - 99.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Victini @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

- V-create
- U-turn
- Bolt Strike

- Trick

Tini is one of the most important members of the team. Offering the Speed Control the team needs, Victini is an increible Revenge Killer capable of start picking up mons or give momentum with U-Turn. Trick is one of the ways the team has to destroy walls like Chansey. One of the main reasons that made me choose Tini, was the problems the team was having breaking through steel types like Celesteela, and bulky waters such as Tapu Fini and Toxapex.

Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 112 Def / 148 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock

- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice]

- U-turn

Lando does not need presentation. The king of OU and the perfect glue, makes its apparition here as the rocker. It is the electric immunity of the team, and helps the team a lot on checking monstrous threats such as Kartana and Medicham-M with the Intimidate, so the team can play around this mons easily. The set is the standard defensive one, but with 4 extra Ev's invested in Speed, so it can outspeed other standard defensive Landours, and heavily damage them with HP Ice.

Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 244 HP / 16 Def / 12 SpA / 40 SpD / 196 Spe
Calm Nature
- Knock Off
- Moonblast

- Surf

- Taunt

The bulky water of the team. Checks Greninja Ash and helps with Dark-spam. Tornadus was already carrying Defog, so I decided to use that slot to annoy with Knock Off. This resulted to be incredibly good, as Fini baits Kartana, and Knocks Off the Scarf when it comes out, making it a lot easier for Tornadus to check this mon. Surf is here instead of Scald to deal the max amount of damage possible. I invested 4 Ev's extra in Speed so it can Taunt other Tapu Finis without getting taunted first.

1636300565204.png
Ferrothorn

1636299031735.png

Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs

EVs: 252 HP / 92 Def / 164 SpD
Careful Nature
- Spikes

- Leech Seed
- Knock Off

- Power Whip

Ferrothorn is our main way to deal with Rain Teams. Spikes is here to stack hazards in the opponent's field, luring those Steel types that can damage the team, mainly Heatran and Magearna. Leech Seed allows him to recover and make chip damage, at the same time it heals teammates. Knock Off is here over Gyro Ball because Ferrothorn baits Heatran and Knocks its only way to recover HP. Power Whip was the obvious option to deal with Water mons in general. The Ev's spread is for dealing with Swampert-M better.

Threat List

1636309684681.png
Magearna:
It is hard for this team to play around Focus Blast variants of this Pokémon, specially if it is a Fightinium Z.

1636309877195.png
Chip Damage:
The main issue of this team is the defensive backbone's lack of revovery. Neither Ferrothorn, Tapu Fini and Landorus-T have a move to recover HP, so the first two depend on Leftovers, while Lando just can't recover.
1636309805837.png
Charizard Y:
Diancie instantly becomes my Wincon as soon as I encounter a ZardY build. It can be played around.

Well, that would be all. I would really appreciate any defensive backbone suggestions, and if any positive change can be made, just let me know.
