Thanks to its Guts ability, potent STAB moves, and decent Speed tier, Obstagoon proves itself to be a powerful wallbreaker in the RU metagame. Close Combat allows it to nail Rock- and Steel-types like Rhyperior, non-Chople Berry Cobalion, and Registeel. Switcheroo lets Obstagoon cripple opposing switch-ins, like Rhyperior and Steelix, while Obstruct allows it to either ensure Flame Orb burns it or scout moves from Choice item threats like Zygarde-10%, Mienshao, and Zarude. Obstruct also helps Obstagoon beat slower bulky threats like Doublade and Incineroar due to the Defense drop it provides. Parting Shot is an alternative to Switcheroo and Obstruct to allow Obstagoon to function as a pivot on Spikes teams, but Obstagoon would rather just attack most of the time given its Guts boost.

Neutralizing Gas Galarian Weezing negates Obstagoon's Guts boost and can easily take multiple attacks from it. Therefore, teammates to deal with Galarian Weezing such as Thundurus, Galarian Slowbro, and Toxtricity are greatly appreciated. VoltTurn partners such as Thundurus, Noivern, and Mienshao can safely bring Obstagoon in against favorable matchups. Fighting-types pose a problem to Obstagoon given its 4x weakness to Fighting; Fairy- or Psychic-type partners like Togekiss, Sylveon, and Gardevoir offensively pressure said Fighting-types, while Obstagoon wears down Steel-types for them with Close Combat. Naturally faster threats like Zygarde-10%, Thundurus, and Noivern easily force out Obstagoon; defensive switch-ins like the aforementioned Togekiss, Milotic, and Registeel can come in on these faster threats and eat up their moves.

Thanks to its Guts ability, coverage moves, and decent Speed tier, Obstagoon proves itself to be a nice "nice" is a weird way to describe it. powerful maybe? wallbreaker in the RU metagame. Even moves like Obstruct and Switcheroo give Obstagoon some sense of utility. Close Combat allows Obstagoon to nail Rock- and Steel-types like Rhyperior, Stakataka, and Registeel. Switcheroo lets Obstagoon cripple opposing potential switch-ins to it like Rhyperior and Steelix, while Obstruct allows Obstagoon to either get its burn from the Flame Orb or scout moves from choiced threats like Zygarde-10%, Gardevoir, and Zarude. mention obstruct can help it beat stuff like slower fighters, bpress regi etc with the defense drop While Obstagoon can hit Rock- and Steel-types, teammates like Tyrantrum and Choice Specs Toxtricity can wear down said threats and make it easier for Obstagoon to pick them off. Fighting-types pose a problem to Obstagoon given its 4x weakness to it. Fairy- or Psychic-type partners like Togekiss, Sylveon, and Gardevoir offensively pressure said Fighting-types while Obstagoon wears down Steel-types for them with Close Combat. Naturally faster threats like Zygarde-10%, Thundurus, and Noivern easily force out Obstagoon. Choice Scarf partners like Darmanitan and Mienshao can remedy this issue by outpacing such threats. are you gonna switch the choice scarfers into these threats? this seems a bit iffy. would just say that building with goon is a bit awk cuz it has v little defensive presence

would also mention parting shot on spikes teams but say that you'd rather just attack most of the time cuz it just hits hard

While Obstagoon can hit Rock- and Steel-types, teammates like Tyrantrum and Choice Specs Toxtricity can wear down said threats and make it easier for Obstagoon to pick them off. (moved it to the move section.)
