Ribombee @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Shield Dust
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Moonblast
- Psychic
- U-turn
Ribombee's excellent Speed combined with U-turn makes it a fantastic pivot, capable of bringing in strong wallbreakers that answer its checks; in addition, its arrival has lowered the effectiveness of once dominant Dark-types like Alolan Persian and Silvally-Dark. Quiver Dance gives Ribombee late-game sweeping potential and causes it to have a limited number of defensive threats like Rapidash, Silvally-Steel, and Galarian Stunfisk, all of which can still take it down after one boost. Because Ribombee draws in Steel-types, it pairs well with teammates like Gallade and Ninetales that appreciate being safely brought in via U-turn to threaten them. In return, Ribombee can handle threats to them like Sableye for Gallade and Silvally-Dragon for Ninetales. Entry hazards like Stealth Rock and Spikes from partners like Mudsdale and Garbodor make Ribombee's job at sweeping much easier. Mudsdale in particular can deal with the numerous Steel-types that NU has. Lastly, a VoltTurn partner like Rotom-S or Clawitzer synergizes with Ribombee, given that they can chip at the opposing team and enable Ribombee to sweep.
