[NU] Bulky Offense

Sup everybody! I would like to share with you a team that I have had quite some success with. Without further ado let us take a look at the fucking MVPs.

Phillip J. Fly (Fletchinder)
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 216 HP / 252 Atk / 40 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics
- Swords Dance
- Taunt
- Roost

No brave bird, no flare blitz. Fucking belongs in the trash can right? Nope. This little bird puts in a massive amount of work with itemless acrobatics on an adamant nature. It deals with fast sweepers with relative ease. Why taunt over will-o-wisp you may ask. You may be able to get a free SD up on wish passers and walls, but a status move is inevitable and that just pretty much cripples you. By using taunt you essentially maim their walls, for the time being at least. Its a matter of personal preference if you prefer to cripple their physical sweepers or walls. The other moves are pretty self explanatory.

Bob Marley (Torkoal) @ Leftovers
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 Def / 248 HP / 8 SAtk
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Lava Plume
- Clear Smog
What durant? You mean that burnt piece of shit over there? The team's answer to offensive steel types such as durant and doublade. Lava plume OHKOs Durant and 2HKOs Doublade, not that they would want to stay in anyway. Clear smog can be removed for yawn but I guess i just really hate sigilyph. Some might think 252 defense is overkill but I like it just the way it is. I really like the synergy this guy has with my next mon, you can almost always switch between these 2 guys against any physical attackers. 4 less EVs in HP for an odd hp number and 0 Atk IVs for foul play (YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO SAFE).

Treehugger (Gourgeist-Super) @ Leftovers
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Impish Nature
- Shadow Sneak
- Leech Seed
- Will-O-Wisp
- Seed Bomb

Shadow sneak on a wall with a cool 100 base attack is well worth the slot. Along with leech seed for recovery and will-o-wisp for crippling physical attackers. Seed bomb is especially useful for barbaracle, if your opponent is not dumb enough to stay in and smash, you could always live a hit and OHKO from there, even with white herb removing the defense drop (Calcs below). I love the synergy gourgeist and torkoal has, the 2 biggest threats to these 2 pokes have to be Archeops and Feraligatr, but then again how threatening are they? Life orbed feraligatr ice punch has a less than 50% chance to 3HKO Gourgeist where as seed bomb is a guaranteed 2HKO without life orb recoil. However for DD variants and Archeops we have...
4 Atk Gourgeist-Super Seed Bomb vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Barbaracle: 304-364 (106.2 - 127.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
(252+ Atk Life Orb Feraligatr Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gourgeist-Super: 127-151 (33.9 - 40.3%) -- 34.6% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery)
(4 Atk Gourgeist-Super Seed Bomb vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Feraligatr: 174-206 (55.7 - 66%) -- guaranteed 2HKO)

DP (Doublade) @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Sacred Sword
- Shadow Sneak
- Swords Dance

The glue that keep the team together, Doublade is a threat even in UU but somehow found its way into the chaotic waters of NU. Living a hit from archeops and killing it with iron head does not seem like the most effecient way to handle a big threat to your team, but in a tier where archeops 2HKOs almost everything with its coverage, I wouldn't be mad. Shadow Claw variants are running rampant but i prefer sacred sword for coverage especially for pokes like Bastiodon or the cunnilinguist Lickilicky who I cannot taunt with Fletchinder.

Angry Feminist (Gurdurr) (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- Mach Punch

How many angry feminists does it take to change a meta? None they can't change anything. Jokes aside, more bulky offense? Yep, this little fella pulls his weight on the team even though he is slow as piss. Mach punch for that cool priority, bulk up to set up and knock off because she can't change the meta. Guts over iron fist because i have no heal beller on my team. If there was a poke i would change on this team it would be this lady right here. Don't get me wrong, she does a hell lot of work but she seems just a little out of place other than the synergy she has with doublade.

Tube of Lube (Sliggoo) @ Eviolite
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Calm Nature
- Toxic
- Dragon Pulse
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

You must be smoking 6 different herbs to use this little fella right? ABOSOLUTELY WRONG. This guy eats Magmortars and Pyroars for breakfast. A SPECS hyper voice from timid Pyroar DOES NOT even 3HKO this bugger and Magmortar doesn't even come remotely close to tickling him. This guy is here to be a special wall that can put pokes on a timer with toxic. A lot of people I faced try to toxic this guy and forfeit after I pull a rest, guess they don't like using lube. A decent 83 SAtk allows this guy to whiter pokes down, coupled with toxic and that special bulk, this guy is an absolute BEAST. The few things that threaten Sliggoo are usually handled by the 2 physical walls and Doublade.

(252+ SpA Magmortar Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Eviolite Sliggoo: 68-81 (20 - 23.8%) -- guaranteed 5HKO)

(252+ SpA Life Orb Ludicolo Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Sliggoo: 99-117 (29.1 - 34.4%) -- 3.1% chance to 3HKO)

(252 SpA Choice Specs Pyroar Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Eviolite Sliggoo: 94-112 (27.6 - 32.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO)

THREATS:

As I mentioned above, the premier threats to this team are Feraligatr and Archeops

This is my first RMT and I really welcome any criticism, harsh or constructive, as that is what it takes to improve my team. Thanks for reading!:pimp:

Hi there! This is a pretty interesting team, but it is absurdly weak to strong ghost types such as Nasty Plot Mismagius, who at +2 or +3 ohko every one of your pokemon. The reason that you find yourself losing to Feraligatr and Archeops is because Sliggoo and Gourgeist lose an absurd amount of momentum for your semi-offensive team, and find no place anyways.

For the above reasons, I recommend running Lead Seismitoad over Sliggoo. It is a full stop to both Archeops and Feraligatr, and can live any one hit from +2 Mismagius to OHKO back. More importantly, it can beat other common leads such as Golem, Golurk, etc. and loses much less momentum than Sliggoo, making it less likely that you would be sweeped.

The next thing that I would do is rid Gourgeist for Pivot Liepard. Any bulky offensive team wants to pack as much priority as it can, and Pivot Liepard offers just that. It revenge kills all pokemon in the tier, prevents setup with a priority encore, can spam priority T-Waves, has strong Sucker Punches, Knock Offs, and Pursuits, and offers an undeniable amount of versatility and utility. More importantly, it beats ghost types you had trouble with 100%, and relieves stress of setup sweepers like the aforementioned feraligatr.

Minor Changes:
Torkoal: I reccomend changing the the rarely seen SmashKoal which uses Fire Blast / Earth Power or Hidden Power [Grass] / Rapid Spin / Shell Smash, as it acts as a great wallbreaker to help wear down opponents for Gurdurr, Doublade, and Fletchinder, can rapid spin more reliably because it OHKO's all relavant ghost types, and again loses less momentum than a purely defensive set. 252 SAtk, 4 SDef, 252 Spd Timid :]

Cool team!

Thanks for the input Brawlfest, I really like the idea of making this team more offensive while having more momentum and I will definitely try it out, the only thing I'm worried about is LO Pyroar or Magmortar giving me problems after losing sliggoo.

i would avoid the use of torkoal in general. the defensive set has a hard time against many other stealth rock users and is an invitation for many things to have free turns against you, including water-types, dragalge, and sigilyph. the shell smash set reaches a terrible speed where even if it defeats mismagius (which is faster than +2 torkoal), you will probably be picked off the next turn and the whole effort of spinning will be useless. it also fails to OHKO spiritomb so you'll have to guess around plays and may not even be able to rapid spin

i would put seismitoad over torkoal to handle the pokemon you claim to have issues with and then fit a rapid spin or defog user over gourgeist. shiftry would be an interesting choice for you since it has offensive capabilities with the priority and hazard removal you want. also dragalge does almost everything that sliggoo can do and would be a better option for your team. you can use dragon tail over toxic spikes since it's counterintuitive with defog

also you have gurdurr and doublade to take most forms of status that bulky pokemon would carry while being able to set up on them anyway. therefore i still think will-o-wisp is superior on fletchinder because the point is to wear down its common switch-ins (most of which are physically-based) so that it's open to clean up later if needed
