[Introduction]
Hi, I'm RoyalReloaded. I've had a smogon account for a long time but was never really an active participant until the beginning of this generation where I fell in love with Monotype. Following the Gouging Fire ban, I wanted to explore some other options Dragon has. I started with Dragonite, trying to use some combination of moves that could help me deal with both Skarmory and Heatran, but I found Dragonite to be too weak. So, I pivoted to a Pokemon I quite like that hardly sees any usage, Kommo-o. I first started with a mixed set, trying a combination of Drain Punch and Flamethrower. However, the same issue occurred, Kommo-o was too weak. Determined to make Kommo-o work, I allocated all of the EVs to Attack and Speed, hoping it could fill the hole left by Gouging Fire. Once I had settled on something, I decided to fill the remaining spots with Pokemon that helped combat Ghost and Fairy types, and that's how we ended up with this 6. I'm making this RMT not only to showcase a fun team with a set that has never been used before, but to hopefully inspire other Monotype players to write RMTs of their own.
[Team Breakdown]

Archaludon @ Leftovers
Ability: Stamina
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Def / 52 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Body Press
- Flash Cannon
- Stealth Rock
Archaludon forms 1/2 of the near unkillable Dragon-Steel core of the team, as well as the only entry hazard setter. Despite not having any Special Attack EVs, Draco Meteor hits opposing Dragons, as well as a few niche cases such as Ceruledge and Skeledirge, quite hard. Body Press combos perfectly with Stamina, having the potential to quickly snowball teams should they not be careful. Flash Cannon rounds out the offensive moves, notably hitting Pokemon such as Iron Valiant and Azumarill. Stealth Rock greatly helps the breakers of the team do their jobs, as well as applying pressure to Flying-type teams to Defog since we have no form of entry hazard removal. 52 Speed EVs outspeeds Max Speed Azumarill, ensuring your team doesn't get run over once it Belly Drums.

Latios (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Luster Purge
- Ice Beam
- Trick
I'm for sure the only person who thinks Latios is this good but that's not the point. A very good Speed tier allows Latios to freely use Choice Specs, dealing incredible damage. Draco Meteor is an incredibly spammable option that will put a dent in most anything in the tier. Luster Purge is genuinely broken, 50% chance to lower Special Defense, making most of the tier not an entirely safe switch in. Our last attacking move is Ice Beam, which helps vs Flying- and Ground-type teams. Trick rounds out the moveset, aiming to snipe a defensive Pokemon that would otherwise switch in, such as Galarian Slowking or Blissey. If you were to replace Trick with Thunderbolt I wouldn't hate that at all, but I haven't tested it out myself.

Dragapult @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Hex
- Will-O-Wisp
- Thunder Wave
Statuses are an incredibly powerful part of the game, with Thunder Wave being one of the absolute best moves in the game in my opinion. Draco Meteor is particularly good on Dragapult as thanks to it's top of the line speed tier, it can revenge kill common Choice Specs users such as Latios and Greninja. Hex pairs nicely with the two status moves that make up the rest of the set. Will-O-Wisp helps Kommo-o have an easier time setting up, as well as chipping down foes so that the offensive members of the team have an easier time picking them off. Thunder Wave allows Latios to have a much easier time as well, notably allowing it to outspeed Air Balloon Sneasler and Spectrier. Thunder Wave is more often than not my preferred status, as I feel paralyzing opposing setup sweepers gives me much more control as opposed to burning them.

Kommo-o @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Drain Punch
- Dragon Claw
- Taunt
- Dragon Dance
The star. Physical Kommo-o is not something that has been seen in Monotype, until now. Drain Punch allows Kommo-o to have a strong STAB option, as well as recovering some HP, making it difficult to be picked off by priority moves. Dragon Claw is the other attacking move, another STAB option. Notably, this combination of types leaves Kommo-o near useless against the likes of Gholdengo, and most Fairies as a whole. That is the assumed risk when you are using this team. I have considered experimenting with Shadow Claw in order to not be so useless in these situations, but haven't gotten around to it. Taunt was the last move I selected. I was debating between Roar, Substitute, Fire Punch, etc. but I found Taunt to be the best (I havent actually tried Substitute yet). Taunt shuts down opposing defensive pieces that would hope to come in on Kommo-o and stop the setup before it can get out of control. Dragon Dance is our boosting move, much more consistent than Clangorous Soul. This set uses Heavy-Duty Boots because they are quite frankly broken. I originally had Soundproof on this set but never encountered a sound move even once. I suppose it could be helpful for Psychic Noise, but I can't think of much else. All of Kommo-o's abilities do just about the same thing (blocking a select few moves), but I think Bulletproof is the best due to bullet moves being more common than sound moves. Bulletproof notably blocks Shadow Ball, Sludge Bomb, and Aura Sphere. Kommo-o is best used as an end game sweeper, once the opposing team has been sufficiently chipped and only one or two boosts are required.

Goodra-Hisui @ Leftovers
Ability: Gooey
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Knock Off
- Dragon Tail
- Protect
Hisuian Goodra is one of the absolute best Specially Defensive walls in the entire tier. I consider it to be just about mandatory on Dragon-type teams thanks to its ability to switch in on just about every special move you can think of, crucially having Fairy-, Dragon-, and Ice-type neutralities. Heavy Slam hits for maximum power on most of the tier and is a huge carry in the Fairy matchup, dealing with Flutter Mane, Hatterene, and Primarina. Knock Off is an excellent way to punish attackers that would hope to switch in on Goodra, since most Special Attackers are forced out once Goodra switches in. Dragon Tail can be used not only to get rid of set up sweepers, such as Gholdengo, but to rack up entry hazard damage by forcing uncomfortable switches. Protect is a fantastic option to scout out what some Choiced users might want to do, as well as recovering some HP. I prefer Leftovers here as opposed to Heavy-Duty Boots because Goodra takes resisted damage vs Stealth Rock, and even when there are Spikes on the field, Goodra has the ability to stay on the field for a long time and slowly gain the HP back. Gooey is extremely clutch in end game situations, allowing your last Pokemon to outspeed the last remaining opponent. Shell Armor is also fine, but I have found Gooey to be more consistent.

Roaring Moon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Outrage
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- U-turn
Roaring Moon's excellent Speed Stat, coupled with Thunder Wave support from Dragapult, allows it to be a very effective Choice Scarf user. Outrage mows down opposing Dragon-type teams once their Choice Scarf user and Archaludon have been sufficiently weakened. Knock Off does the same as previously mentioned, but is a lot more powerful when coming from Roaring Moon, greatly aiding in the Ghost-type matchup. I went with Earthquake over Iron Head because we already have two Steel-type Pokemon, and Earthquake helps deal with Heatran, itemless Gholdengo, and other Steel-types. U-turn is a phenomenal pivot option that baits out Defensive Pokemon and turns the situation on its head, allowing for an advantageous position.

[Closing Thoughts]
I don't really have too much to say. If you took the time to read this thread, thanks so much. This is my first RMT so sorry if the explanations weren't to your liking, I would like to make more in the future. Thanks to all my friends who make it worth logging on to Discord and Pokemon Showdown, you guys are the best. I hope to see more Monotype RMTs on the forum soon!
