National Dex New to Showdown

Hey other Pokemon fans,

I recently started playing Pokemon Showdown, and am having a lot of fun. I made this team off of some of my favorite Pokemon, but am hoping to get into it more competitively. I love Beedrill, and do not want to switch him out under any circumstances.
Clodsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Impish Nature
- Gunk Shot
- High Horsepower
- Substitute
- Yawn

Clod here is meant to sponge any electric damage and stall using substitute and yawn.

Starmie @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Natural Cure
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Flip Turn
- Hydro Pump
- Expanding Force

Starmie is a support who can get rid of hazards with rapid spin. It's high speed stat also makes it able to quickly take out any fire or fighting type threats.

Goodra-Hisui @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Gooey
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
- Sludge Wave
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Knock Off

Goodra here is meant to patch up any cracks in the team's defence, with a wide variety of moves and a tanky build. It can also take care of speedy mons who can sweep my team.

Beedrill-Mega @ Beedrillite
Ability: Swarm
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Poison Jab
- Fell Stinger
- Drill Run

Beedrill is my sweeper, with moves like fell stinger boosting its attack, and high speed, it can switch in and be able to take out 2-3 mons before using U-turn to get out.

Aurorus @ Power Herb
Ability: Snow Warning
Tera Type: Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Blizzard
- Stealth Rock
- Meteor Beam
- Dark Pulse

I have Aurorus to take care of some of Beedrill's natural counters, and to get rid of popular flying types I keep running into like Aerodactyl and Gliscor. It's also fairly tanky, and can set up with stealth rock.

Rotom-Mow @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Leaf Storm
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball

Rotom is here to eliminate ground types and have a solid defense against water. It can also use volt switch for reliable switches into Beedrill.

I got up to 1150 with this team, but am hoping to get to the next level when it comes to my gameplay. Any Pokemon switches (except Beedrill) and move changes would be greatly appreciated.

Hello welcome to smogon!

So I see you are a mega beedrill fan. Unfortunately mega beedrill is not to hot in natdex. However that’s not the full issue here.

Some issues I see here is offensive mons in combination with mons that are typically on stall for example :clodsire: usually clodsire runs a set like this in stall teams.

Clodsire @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Tera Type: Dark
Careful Nature
- Spikes
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Recover

The set you have is very passive and easy to play around.

2. :starmie: unfortunately is not great as a spinner it is completely walled by pokemon such as :ferrothorn: and :slowking galar: any spin it attempts it makes its punished by iron barbs from ferrothorn as well.

3. I’m gonna lump the last three together as well unfortunately:goodra hisui: , :aurorus:, and :rotom mow: are all unviable as well. I would be happy to help with beedrill but unfortunately the team itself has not much synergy at all to make this salvageable.

If you want to build :beedrill mega: I think starting with decent hazard removal and a future sight mon like :slowking galar: would be a good start since it functions best as an offensive pivot.

Hope this helps best of luck! Be sure to check the viability rankings as well.
