So, hello everybody. This is my first post here, and as you can tell by the title, I'm working on trying to make a good team with Mega Garchomp as my main Pokémon. Garchomp was always one of my favorites, so, I'm glad that he's got a mega that's even more powerful.
Note: I'll be making this team on X/Y. I don't have ORAS yet :(
1. Garchomp ♂
Rough Skin, Garchompite held item, Jolly nature
4 HP/252 ATK/252 SPE
-Dragon Claw
-Earthquake
-Changed to Stone Edge (Was undecided before)
-Changed to Swords Dance (Was undecided before)
So, mah sweeper. Mega Garchomp's extreme speed and attack made it the sweeper of choice for this team. Earthquake is self explanatory, and I chose Dragon Claw over Outrage because confusion is a massive pain for a sweeping Pokémon. I usually don't lead with him, but, during the middle or towards the end of a match, he's typically able to take out any weakened Pokémon with one hit. So, the confusion that I have with this guy are his other two moves. I've used Poison Jab, Fire Fang, Stone Edge, and Crunch on him on different occasions, and all of them have great use and help to give him more coverage. If there's anybody that's more experienced with Garchomp and could help me decide which two moves would be best, that would be awesome :)
2. Keldeo (No gender? Awkward...)
Justified, Life Orb held item, Timid nature
4 HP/252 SPE/252 SPATK
-Icy Wind
-Secret Sword
-Scald
-Changed to Hydro Pump (was HP Dark before)
So, with a physical sweeper, it can help to have a Pokémon capable of being a special sweeper. Life Orb is, well, self explanitory. With a high speed, Keldeo can benefit from a bit of extra attacking power. HP Dark gives coverage against any annoying Ghost or Psychic type Pokémon. I chose to have Scald over Surf for the burn possibility (which has actually come in handy before) and over Hydro Pump for lack of accuracy. Secret Sword lets Keldeo have a good STAB that's got great power, and Icy Wind has actually been more useful than you might think. It's a good move with the capability to lower speed, and since he has a life orb, the lower power can be compensated. I find that Keldeo is a good Pokémon to have with Garchomp, since they both have great speed and attacking potential.
3. Bisharp ♂
Defiant, Assault Vest held item, Adamant nature
160 HP/252 ATK/96 SPE
-Changed to Sandstorm (Was Pursuit before. This was changed to support Garchomp)
-Knock Off
-Brick Break
-Iron Head
Bisharp has been one of my favorites as well since he was first introduced in gen 5. Bisharp definatley doesn't lead, but like Garchomp and Keldeo, he has a good amount of power that lets him be useful later on in a match. Bisharp doesn't have speed to match much, but, he makes up for it in a bit more bulk. Pursuit is so amazingly great when you can time it right, and it's always good to cripple the enemy team with a few Knock Offs. Brick Break has helped me get rid of some pesky Reflect/Light Screen users, and gives a bit of coverage. Iron Head is the powerful STAB move, that takes down Fairy types quickly. Of course, since these are all offensive attacks, Bisharp's set is wrapped up with a good defense boost from his vest.

4. Thundurus ♂
Volt Absorb, Focus Sash held item, Timid nature
4 HP/252 SPATK/252 SPE
-Focus Blast
-Nasty Plot
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power Ice (was HP Flying before)
I can't believe that Thundurus doesn't even have a special flying move. Oh well. Thundurus can actually lead, setting up a Nasty Plot (Focus Sash keeps him alive) and then he can attempt to sweep at the very beginning of a match. Focus Blast does have coverage, but it doesn't have the best accuracy, so, Thundurus can get KO'd if he misses, so it's sort of a double-edged sword. Thunderbolt is STAB, of course, and Hidden Power Flying is the only Flying move that can actually be useful to Thundurus. Most of the time I just let Sylveon lead anyway, and Thundurus can appear afterwards.
5. Sylveon ♂
Pixilate, Leftovers held item, Bold nature
252 HP/244 DEF/12 SPE
- Calm Mind
- Baton Pass
- Substitute
- Hyper Voice
Since I mentioned him, I'll talk about this devil next. A Bold Sylveon with defense EV's is actually bulky beyond belief, since he already possesses a super high special defense. He's one of the best leads I've used, setting up Calm Mind once or twice, Substitution if needed, and then using Hyper Voice to deal some damage. If the opposing Pokémon resists Fairy attacks, he can simply Baton Pass on the boosts to Gengar, Keldeo, or even Thundurus. He's an excellent Baton Passer since he has so many possible recipients to choose from. I'm sure that this is probably one of the most common Sylveon sets that's used, but, it works.
6. Gengar ♂
Levitate (Lol) Black Sludge held item, Timid nature
8 HP/248 SPATK/252 SPE
- Hex
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Sludge Wave
Last, but certainly not least, is Gengar, one of my favorite Ghost types. Ghost types are my favorite; I don't think I've ever made a team without one. Normally, I would use Spiritomb and Sableye, but in gen 6 their power was toned down so much. Gengar's still here to wreck teams though, with his high speed and special attacking power. Taunt it excellent when I know that somebody's going to try and set up some boosts, and Hex is just uh-mazing STAB when used in conjunction with Will-O-Wisp. Although he isn't Mega, he still has a ton of power and damage output with Sludge Wave, his second STAB move.
Alrighty, so, that pretty much sums up the team that I've been testing out. I think that each of these Pokémon are excellent battlers in OU. With them so far, I've won every game I've played. I'm thinking that this has the potential to be one of my best teams yet, so, let me know what you think :) Thanks a whole lot for taking the time to sit down and read all of this, I know it's a lot.
