Roost keeps Mega Latios healthy to wallbreak consistently, check threats like Ogerpon-W and Zamazenta thanks to its typing, and shrug off passive damage from Garganacl's Salt Cure and Heatran's Magma Storm. Despite having Aura Sphere, Mega Latios can struggle with Dark-types that are bulky enough to take it or outspeed it like Ting-Lu, Weavile, and Darkrai; therefore, partners like Zamazenta and Iron Valiant are great for it. Iron Valiant in particular greatly appreciates Mega Latios threatening Poison-types like Galarian Slowking and Toxapex that could otherwise deal with it, while Great Tusk can remove hazards for Mega Latios, significantly benefiting its longevity. Zamazenta also appreciates Mega Latios breaking through the aforementioned Pokemon, and heavily pressures common checks to Mega Latios like Ting-Lu and Heatran in return.
