Projects National Dex DOU Teambuilding Competition!!!!! (Week TwentyOne: MHera)

It looks like it's a tie between bage1 and smudgerox, so

For the next week, we'll be trying out a ranked pairs voting method.
We'll also be trying out Mew!

SnapMew.png

Mew is prized for its versatility above all things, and inherently has value on account of having nearly every support move, a solid stat line, and enough options to make something truly unique! It's not necessarily the first thing that comes to mind when building, but the sheer options that it offers can make it a truly spectacular pick -- from the ultimate in support, to a surprise wincon in its own right. However, its typing leaves it with some pretty significant weaknesses, specifically, to Urshifu, Basculegion, and Marshadow. However, now packing more options than ever, the most versatile Pokemon provides endless opportunities -- and potentially endless pitfalls. The most versatile ingredients can often be the most difficult, so I'm excited to see what people come up with this week!

:mew::flutter-mane::landorus::incineroar::lucario-mega::chien-pao: mew is an extremely versatile pokemon with 4mss. this team utilises tailwind mew and the deadly combo of sor and mlucario. av incineroar since it needs to keep rilla and flutter mane in check, sf landorus to also hit hard. i ran o speed ivs on incin to slow pivot with u-turn and ran modest on flutter to utilise its booster energy and has tailwind as its speed control.
edit: accidentally put sand force instead of sheer force on lando
edit of an edit: put sd on a cb chien pao

Degen Goth+Garg Toxic Spikes

:gothitelle::mew::garganacl::kangaskhan-mega::rillaboom::flutter-mane:

The point of this team is to create safe/passive board states with Goth/Rilla/Kang and take advantage with CM Flutter and Garganacl while stalling out the opponent with Toxic Spikes. The Flutter set is jank but also:

so idk fire emoji.

Mew is kinda not great in this meta, in my opinion its best aspects are its access to broken move Coaching and broken move Pollen Puff. It's also the best mon to use both Pollen Puff + Toxic Spikes which fits nicely with this team's bulk and longevity. Mew struggles to leverage the potential surprise factor while also still being a useful pokemon because its pretty easy to use the context of the rest of the team to get an idea of what it does. I think the best use cases for Mew are on teams where it fills a very specific niche that it desperately needs filled, as otherwise it generally feels outclassed by other mons no matter what it tries to do.

I noticed that I forgot to put up the deadline in the previous post, so people will have until Sunday, 2am UTC to finish up their teams. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Tr = mew + guru + fake out
https://pokepast.es/907a4af33b8a5b34
This team consists of two tr setters I.e., mew and oranguru in which oranguru is the main setter . Oranguru is one of the best tr setter with the move instruct its a broken mon . Lead with oranguru and hands , keep oranguru with the ability inner focus and Tera fairy , hands can fake out the mon you think is a problem and use tr on oranguru . Because of inner focus oranguru cannot be flinched and if you are threatened by a dark type mon you can Tera fairy oranguru . In this case you have a guaranteed 1st turn tr . You have a constant heal on hands with drain punch . Ursuluna with flame orb to activate guts and facade ohko even resists , for a option you can keep Tera normal on ursuluna for guaranteed ohko on evrything . On the top of it you have instruct to take both opponents in one move . You have enormous -t for dark and fairy killing . Kingambit is good with all abilities but with intimidate incenroar in play defiant is the best . And we have Tera dark mew as second tr setter which you can use in the end game .

:mew::metagross-mega::flutter-mane::heatran::landorus-therian::rillaboom:

No one had posted the very not boring coaching mew + megagross team yet, so I figured I'd do it. The main coaching target is obviously Mega Metagross, but there are cases where you can coach lando or rilla as well. Mew can often do a lot of Fake Out cycles with Rillaboom, and get Tailwind off at least once, if not more, thanks to its solid base bulk.

The usual way the team tries to play is getting up rocks with lando early, and accumulating chip across the board with the core of Lando/Rilla/Heatran. Megagross's role is flexible, but it can be a decent cleaner with Bullet Punch after receiving a Coaching boost or two from Mew. Booster Speed Flutter Mane is an amazing late-game mon, especially with Icy Wind which is super useful vs faster teams.

Congratulations to bage1 for winning the teambuilding competition!

The Pokemon this week is Urshifu Rapid Strike!
892-r.png

Urshifu-Rapid-Strike has been often viewed as inferior to its more wicked (now banned) counterpart, but Unseen Fist is kinda nuts, and Surging Strikes is an excellent move to work with. Being able to shoot off strong moves without worrying about traditional counterplay to strong attackers like Intimidate and Protect gives Urshifu-Rapid-Strike a solid position, although not one without its weaknesses. Urshifu-Rapid-Strike's speed tier is relatively poor compared to many in the fast paced meta, meaning that it oftentimes relies on speed control in order to have a major impact. Additionally, Water/Fighting gives Urshifu-Rapid-Strike weaknesses into Flutter Mane and Rillaboom. Still, Urshifu is a very strong Pokemon, and one that I'm excited to see people use in this teambuilding competition!

The deadline for building is on the 19th, at 2am UTC, and voting will last 48 hours after that. We'll be using ranked voting again.

:urshifu::volcanion::cresselia::scizor-mega::rillaboom::ting-lu:
Urshifu-Rapid is a nice addition to the tier, replacing its way unhealthier brother and adding a new Water-type to the meta are both nice.

Urshifu-Rapid pairs up nicely with Mega Scizor and Volcanion, as Volcanion beats Flutter Mane and Mega Scizor soft checks Flutter Mane and hard counters Rillaboom. The plan of the team is simple, set Stealth Rock, threaten out opponent, keep stuff alive with Cresselia and enable the Mega Scizor sweep.

Very straightforward HO where the main game plan is to blow everything up. Fake Tears Whimsicott + busted spread attackers can roll unprepared teams. Urshifu complements the special attacking core well by offering a but more defensive backbone + Unseen Fist deterring the opponent from protecting, allowing for Urshifu's partner to often get guaranteed damage. Naganadel is great at scaring off the main Urshifu checks like Rillaboom and Tapu Fini, and can steamroll quickly. Rillaboom gives a ground resist and generally functions as the busted utililty + glue mon that it always is. This team is pretty read-heavy without much of a defensive core to speak of, so make sure not to waste turns.

This is one of the better teams I've built for this format. It was originally Darkshifu and I didn't build it for this teamcomp either, but I slotted in Water last night for the room tours and it seems to work just as well, to the surprise of absolutely nobody, and realized I haven't submitted this team for anything yet. Call me lazy I guess, but I think this team is a banger :>

Whimsicott provides a defensive backbone in a different way than you might expect, giving encore pressure forcing unfavorable positions for the opponents and then pivoting out, with Fini preventing status on the double physical attackers. Incin adds to this by slowing the game down as it does. MKang is mostly a SToss and Sucker bot + second Fake Out, but you could change SToss for return, drop Sucker for Crunch, it's really flexible.

One notable spread is the speed tier on Incin, it outspeeds 405 speed mons in TW, which can come in handy. Every other spread is standard, but Ursifu is Adamant instead of Jolly for extra damage since it's not banded. It could easily change to a band set with U-Turn over protect as well and go Jolly.

Here's a couple replays of it in action last night against active players of the tier:
