Welcome to NatDex OU Teambuilding Competition! In this project, a Pokemon each week will be presented for you to build a team around and then submit. This will then be taken into voting. The team with the most votes is the winner and gets spotlighted in the room!

There are no strict rules for this project, but here's how things should work:
  1. Entry submission: Post team in the thread itself with import and explanation in hide tags. Please, when you are submitting a team, try not to slash movesets / items in the importable. The finished product should be the build you are most confident in. It is fine to do minor set changes throughout the week, but if you want to give an option for one of your Pokemon, note it in the Explanation instead. Make sure the team you post are according to the Pokémon, Core or Theme of the Week: or else you’ll obviously get disqualified. Joke teams will also be disqualified. If you'd like to submit an idea for a theme, don't be afraid to PM me through Smogon or Discord (@hidinwastaken).
  2. Disputes / Copying: Obviously, there is potential for disputes over copying or people making similar entries. In general, if your team entry has the same cores of Pokémon and similar move sets to an earlier entry, it will be disqualified. If anyone tries to abuse this by reserving an early post in the thread for their entry, please bring it to my attention and they'll be disqualified. If you are caught doing this there is a high possibility you will not be allowed to post in the building stage for an indefinite amount of time.
  3. Discussion and team changes: One part of the process is to have discussion about the teams and the core. While I'd like to keep this from being a speedy RMT thread, suggestions of improvements to entered teams are allowed. In the interests of fairness though, I'd ask that any suggestions don't involve anything more major than move set changes, and that if you've already submitted a team you won't change the Pokémon in it. Basically, just be sure that you're happy with the team before you send it in.
  4. Clean and Tidy: I'd like to keep the thread as clean and uniform as possible, as for ease of browsing, so this means keep formatting consistent, using the provided links for sprites and avoid posting one liners during the submission phase.
  5. Sprites: Please use this sprite option below:
  6. Voting Phase: We are changing the voting system compared to last time! Now, you can only vote for one team. This is to prevent any potential cluttering with votes and such, making things simpler. For example, if four teams are submitted, they will be given letters in their order (A, B, C, D). You can choose which one to vote for and say so in the thread. If you made a team, you can vote, but NOT for your own team.
Remember to have fun in this project; may the best team win!

:charizard-mega-y: :melmetal: :alomomola: :great tusk: :raging bolt: :landorus-therian:

A bit of zard Y action
Zard Y is our primary breaker, setting sun for raging bolt and tusk to benefit while also blasting through stuff

Melmetal is a great fairy check, AV Makes it a sturdy special attacker check. Can alternate between tpunch, ice punch, superpower

Alomomola seems like a good pick here, since melmetal and zard Y like to blast through stuff with their stabs. However, both of them appreciate a pivot and healing. While zard Y does have roost, it doesn't make use of it much vs offensive teams. Alo is also a good tank.

Great tusk is our hazard removal, also benefitting from Zard Y providing sun, triggering protosynthesis. It can function as a sweeper with Bulk Up. Can also run CC for ice spinner.

Raging Bolt deals with water types and flying types. It is also a good resist to water type moves. It holds draconium z allowing it to tear through walls.

Landorus-t is our pivot + rocker. It gets intimidate off on offensive mons, which really makes a difference. Great defensive typing, and a ground immunity too, as zard Y isnt that reliable.

edit : just realized this is the first team posted here lol, thats cool

:Melmetal: :Alomomola: :Terapagos: :Garchomp: :Dragapult: :Togekiss:

I showcased this team earlier, but basically punching gloves is a pretty nice buff to melmetal, increasing its damage output notably. T-Wave + pads is mainly answered by Grounds and electrics like Zapdos and Raging Bolt, which offensively, Garchomp can handle with its Rockium-Z set. Dragapult is a good pivot that acts as speed control and can benefit from melm and mola spreading status. Terapagos is a reliable spinner that can soft check Dragapult. Lastly Togekiss is used as the heal beller, which every other Pokemon from the team benefits from, and can force DD Dragapult into annoying 50/50s on whether it should pop the Z move or not. Also can cheese out wins with para support from Melm.

Luther - Band Melm Balance
:Melmetal: :alomomola: :rillaboom: :Tyranitar: :Dragapult: :Corviknight:

:Melmetal: Band melm is one of the strongest breakers introduced with the releases, being able to ohko and cripple resists and would be checks with strong double iron bashes. Its wide coverage allows it to break steels like ferrothorn with superpower, while Ohkoing landorus with ice punch after intimidate. Melm is also a reliable secondary switchin for mons such as tapu lele and mega scizor

:alomomola: Melm very much appreicates wish support greatly improving its longevity, which mola provides while also being a slow pivot to allow a breaker to come in and uh click buttons. Standard set, does what it is known to do, pass wish and be an annoying little (sometimes passive) shitter.

:Rillaboom: Rillaboom provides gterrain which helps melm and tar against ground types, while also providing good priority in order to revenge mons such as samurott hisui, urshifu rapid and chipped wetpons. Also provides a secondary pivot, albeit a faster one in order to give melm further opportunities to break.

:tyranitar: Now i know a lot of people arnt to high on av tar but it definitely has merits. It is one of few reliable yard answers in the tier, while also being able to take hits well from special variants of kyu, raging bolt, volc, special dragapult and the terapagooner. Pursuit allows it to trap and kill a lot of common defensive mons such as gking and also remove threats such as pult.

:dragapult: Speaking of dragapult, specs pult is my fave mini dragon nuke :). Very little of the tier likes switching hard in on STAB draco or shadow ball, with steels being crippled by flamethrower. U-turn allows pult to hopefully not get hard pursuit gambited on, while also just being useful in general for getting away from would be answers.

:Corviknight: Corv is our removal and primary fairy switchin, while also being a good switchin to mons like mciz and the numerous freed steels. Body press has been opted for over brave bird in order to deal big damage to mons like gambit and melm.

TEAMCOMP IS BACKKKKKKKKKKKK

TWave Melmetal+Drag Z Hex Dragapult Bulky Offense
:melmetal::alomomola::great tusk::dragapult::zapdos::tyranitar-mega:
Click the mons for the paste, also why do all of these have Alomomola
It seems like a lot of us had similar ideas but this was working really well in testing so I'm still gonna post it. Basically spread TWave with Melm, Pult, and Static Zapdos while chipping things with pivoting before winning with one of the many decent offensive engines here. Punching Glove with Ice Punch is great into a lot of Grounds with Melmetal, and you Twave everything else. Alomomola works really well with this by spreading status and pivoting into most neutral hits really well, it can also use Wish to keep Melm, Ttar, and Great Tusk healthy. Fast Helmet Stone Edge Great Tusk soft checks a lot of dangerous stuff like SD Ival Volcarona and rocks Zapdos and Moltres on the switch. I love Hex Drag Z Pult, its a really underrated set as people are simply not prepared to get outright nuked by Hex Pult, and having that set exert instant offensive pressure comes in handy a lot. Zapdos is really nice right now, checks a lot of dangerous stuff and pivots well; this is Hurricane so the team doesn't fold to SD Waterpon. Mega TTar helps out vs. Dragapult, Heatran, and Yard while also being quite dangerous with paralysis support.

Melmetal Hazard Spam

:melmetal: :Zamazenta: :Landorus-Therian: :Slowking-Galar: :Dragapult: :Samurott-Hisui:

:Melmetal: is the 2 way force that holds the team together with its defense on physical attackers and strong physical hits it also packs twave which allows it not only support the team with twaves speed control abilities but it also powers up dragapults hex, it also a great teammate of pult being able to deal with multiple of it checks such as but not limited to kingambit(most of the time), ttar and weavile.

:zamazenta: is another mon like melmetal who's can defend and hit very harder and in zama's case it hit even harder due to band

:Landorus-Therian: good old reliable here it's used as a pivot and its ability to defog also carries toxic to support hex pult

:Slowking-galar: defends on the special side, serves as maybe the best pivot in the tier, also packs twave as well to again help hex pult

:dragapult: pult might just the best mon in the tier on this team it serves offense on the special side dropping dracos and using hex with the very high amount of status on the team also adds some in with wisp also has u turn to switch out on its checks

:samurott-hisui: it was a toss up for me between gambit and samu but i chose samu due to spikes(unless I was trying to do rocks gambit) the av gives it the extra bulk that allows it to deal with gholdengo and special pult while also providing knock off and priority with sucker punch

Gloves Melm Fat Balance
:melmetal: :lopunny-mega: :tangrowth: :moltres: :alomomola: :ting-lu:
:Melmetal: Looking at most melm checks, like the birds, helmet corv, and ferro, they all rely on contact punishing stuff to chip and cripple melm. So i thought of using a gloves to be able to screw with teams using those mons to handle melm. Toxic screws with these checks more, primarily the birds.

:lopunny-mega: Lopp helps out against offensive teams and loves the birds being toxiced and weakened by melm. qattack over uturn because i didnt feel like i was getting as much value out of pivoting with mlopp.

:tangrowth: Tang is an underrated mon imo, it helps handle stuff like waterpon, urshi-r, hammurott, etc. provides some knock to the team aswell, and sleep powder can get melm in for free.

:moltres: i needed a defogger and a zardY check, and moltres ticked those boxes nicely. also helps handle stuff like ghold and ival.

:alomomola: mola + melm is a very nice core, and is even more essential here since my melm doesnt have lefties.

:ting-lu: glue mon, checks stuff like the ghosts and koko, sets rocks, phazes, etc. loves having molas wishes to make it even more unkillable.

also alternate version with zama and mvenu over mlopp tang

Trick Room Melmetal Hyper Offense

:melmetal: :hatterene: :kingambit: :cresselia: :porygon2: :camerupt-mega:

Okay, here comes my team. This team decides to sacrifice defensive integrity for overwhelming offensive power. Melmetal is a monster under Trick Room that has the coverage to destroy anything and everything. It can already abuse leftovers well enough but when you are going first? You may not be broken anymore but you are still nothing short of excellent. Porygon2 is a setter that can be threatening itself with Bolt Beam and teleport to get a partner on the field. Kingambit is a Pokemon that can contribute whether Trick Room is up or not much like Melmetal itself. Cresselia is so bulky that it can get trick room up again and packs Ice Beam for any Taunt Landorus that wants to tango as well as for Gliscor, who it can ignore with Mental Herb anyway. Hatterene denies entry hazards and can be an emergency setter of Trick Room since getting hazards against this team is hard and can be punished very easily. Lastly, Mega Camerupt complements Melmetal perfectly by frying any of the few Pokemon that might annoy Melmetal. Originally had Eruption on Camerupt but dropped it for Stealth Rock which can be a life saver against focus sash Pokemon on your opponent's side. A nasty team that goes all in on trick room and of course stars Melmetal in beautiful glory.

Melmetal + CM Koko Bulky Offense
:melmetal: :tapu-koko: :landorus-therian: :tangrowth: :zamazenta: :moltres:

I wanted to initially build around Melmetal + Raging Bolt, but the team needed an opposing Raging Bolt check so I picked a fun set in CM Koko. Melmetal is our Steel and with Zamazenta is our main form of offense, while spreading paralysis with Tangrowth and threatening most TWave absorbers. Tapu Koko is a Bolt chevk and Flying resist that doesn’t mind Knock and Para, while being a great lure for Ground-types with Fairium Z. Landorus-T is just Landorus-T. Tangrowth is our Wellspring and Hamurott check and second Para spreader. Zamazenta is the team’s fastest mon and is a general wallbreaker that helps Melmetal by letting it trade less overall. Lastly, Moltres helps check a few things like Denyo and Zardy, while also Defogging.

Assault Vest Melmetal + Mega Altaria Spikes Offense

:melmetal: :altaria: :moltres: :samurott-hisui: :landorus-therian: :dragapult:

One of the largest meta shifts that is caused by the ban of Terastallisation is the rise of Mega Charizard Y, thanks to the return of Gholdengo, Kingambit and the star of today's show, Melmetal. Of course, this is a big issue for Melmetal, since Charizard can use it as an opportunity to force progress. This is where Mega Altaria comes in: being able to switch into any of Charizard's attacks without much harm is immensely valuable, and Altaria is able to leverage its typing to make progress. Furthermore, Altaria's weaknesses are covered by the other members of the team: Dragapult can weaken the opposing Melmetal, and our own Melmetal set is able to check enemy physical attackers well. The main concern for this team is Alomomola, but we have a few tools to deal with it, namely Fakadee on Altaria to not be hurt as much by Toxic and contact abilities, as well as Toxic on Landorus to wear it down over time. You may also consider Knock Off on either Samurott or Landorus to wear it down with Spikes instead, and if you prefer, Return is also an option (though I believe an inferior one) on Altaria.

:sv/terapagos-terastal:

Terapagos has returned down here as a great offensive utility pick with Rapid Spin, bountiful coverage, and a very strong STAB Tera Starstorm complimented by its ability making all hits not very effective at full letting it be a good emergency check to most Pokemon in the metagame. With how much it has to offer, see if you can build around it!

Submissions end December 20th!

:terapagos-stellar:-:buzzwole:-:garganacl:-:scizor-mega:-:gholdengo:-:melmetal:

Terap is a super reliable spinner that can take on many Setters and spinblockers such as Lando T and Dragapult with ice beam and skarmory and gholdengo with Flamethrower. Tera starstorm is a reliable af stab that has incredible damage output, and then spin because heh u a spinner idc.
Buzzwole is hella underrated rn a lot of teams js get swept by this guy and even when it doesn't sweep it can remove a Molt, a glisc, a Pagos and then switch out like nuff bc it never fears Pursuit thanks to Resist+139 base def. 139 Base attack means its STAB CC Hits Strong af and iq hard to take afte r1 Beast boost Proc, effectivelybeing able to take on entire teams if their counter is weakened in the back and cannot live 2 unboosted hits from this absolute beast. Garg has not fallen guys salt cure is still broken, still annoying af and even tho u have hellslot of weaknesses u also do not auto drop to them and since some Gambits dont carry Iron head anymore you ball you Body press on their measly knock. Msciz hates contact birds, and zardy, and Volc. but against all the rest it's prime Msciz and 76 speed lets it outspeed uninvested ghold while delivering +2 Knocks and Bug Bites that make Slower pokémon FEAR for their lives. Bug bite mainly Targets mola as it cannot switch in even full physdef
+2 252+ Atk Technician Scizor-Mega Bug Bite vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Alomomola: 298-352 (55.8 - 65.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
then we have Fight Z ghold without Make it rain because Fighting + ghost is crzy good and u need Np and recover to threaten Zamazenta enough. Very solid in my experience.
THEN
We have MIXED ATTACKER MELMETAL
it has enough bulk to live SE hits and then BoltBeam to SEVERELY Damage its "counters" that drop its Phys attack and burn it.
+2 144 SpA Melmetal Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Great Tusk: 418-494 (112.6 - 133.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
