Nacho Time

Hello, my name is SpadeMan and I am posting my team for you guys to view. It has had regular success in Shoddy and its probably the best team I have made as of this date (because the others haven't had regular success with Shoddy.) I am new to Smogon, I have been using the movesets for quite a while now and lurking the forums. Alright im starting to rant now, here is the team:
PLEASE NOTE: I have read the rules regarding grammar and such. While I understand this, I do have Dyslexia which means that words may be in awkward places. if this occurs, just tell me and I will edit the post.

THE TEAM
Smeargle @ Choice Scarf
Spr_b_g4_235.png

212 HP/ 40 Def/ 252 Spe
Jolly w/ Own Tempo
-Spore
-Trick
-Stealth Rock
-Protect
Smeargle is easily one of the best Anti-Lead's in the current Metagame. He can simultaneously cripple two pokemon and set up Stealth Rock, vital which team is because my sweepers arent as powerful as a Dragon Dancing Salamence or Scizor. I put EV's in defenses and speed so I can survive a lead Metagrosses Bullet Punch or any Priority move not called Mach Punch or Vacuum Wave. Protect is here for Scarfed Jirachi leads, On Shoddy the only lead that caused me trouble. If I can protect and the Jirachi uses Iron Head, I can safely switch to Magnezone to trap and kill it. This is obviously situational, thats why I think it should be replaced maybe with Destiny Bond or something similar, but it does it job as of now.

Infernape @ Life Orb
Spr_b_g4_392.png

64 Att/ 252 SpA/ 192 Spe
Naive w/ Blaze
-Fire Blast
-Nasty Plot
-Grass Knot
-Close Combat
Because Infernape is my sole counter to Celebi and Scizor, I am running a Nasty Plot set to take advantage of that. Infernape is also generally my star sweeper, because he can beat SkarmBliss with a hand behind his back. He also supports Celebi very well by resisting most of its weaknesses bar flying, ghost and poison, those and are very uncommon used moves in the metagame anyway's compared to Dark and Bug.

Celebi @ Choice Scarf
Spr_b_g4_251.png

100 HP/ 252 SpA/ 156 Spe
Timid w/ Natural Cure
-U-Turn
-Leaf Storm
-HP Ice
-Earth Power
Celebi is seen as more of a defensive pokemon, but I never liked it as one seeing If it dosent resist it, it is weak to it, and more often than not the words "its super effective!" will apear on the screen. I have U-Turn here instead of Trick, because Celebis top counter is Scizor, and most hold a Choice Band. It also helps me Scout for Heatran, But Celebi can beat him with Earth Power. If anyone could tell me the required EV's to outspeed +1 positive natured base 100's I would appreciate it, It gives me a little more insurace against a DD Salamence. Celebi is my primary revenge killer on this team and works in synergy with Lanturn and Skarmory, my two walls.

Magnezone @ Leftovers
Spr_b_g4_462.png

156 HP/ 252 SpA/ 100 Spe
Modest w/ Magnet Pull
-Substitute
-Magnet Rise
-ThunderBolt
-HP Ice
The 'Steel Killer' set was a neccisity for this team, because it can beat out Skarm and BP Scizor, and Scarfed Jirachi as mentioned earlier. I have put 100 EV's into Speed to beat Bulky Versions of Scizor, which is almmost all of them. He can also beat Gliscor who lack Taunt, because Magnet Rise will nullify his STAB Earthquake and most sets only run that or Ice Fang as offensive options. Once again, Serene Grace pokemon such as Jirachi and Togekiss hurt this team, Magnezone is innsurance insurance against these threats.

Skarmory @ Shed Shell
Spr_b_g4_227.png

252 HP/ 64 Att/ 188 Def
Impish w/ Keen Eye
-Brave Bird
-Roost
-Whirlhwind
-Toxic/ Spikes
This is a standard Skarmory and there is no other way to go with OU's best physical wall. He is paired with Lanturn because he resists absolutley every weakness between the two, and Lanturn has even a water resist which normally takes its toll on Skarmory without any special defense EV's. I do not have 16 Speed EV's as beating max speed Rhyperior is not really a factor, as most either Rock Polish or Swords Dance. he is a valuable asset to my team as a hazer, and a wall. I am unsure about the novelty of spikes as I have been using Toxic, although Spikes could net me some important KO's for my sweeppers. Thoughts?

Lanturn @ Leftovers
Spr_b_g4_171.png

40 HP/ 192 SpA/ 240 SpD/ 36 Spe
Calm w/ Volt Absorb
-Surf
-Thunderbolt
-Ice Beam
-Thunder Wave
Like Hariyama, Lanturn is a UU pokemon thats ready for OU. It counters some of the Metagames most powerful pokemon, including Zapdos, Starmie and any Bulky Water not called Swampert or Gyarados (without Earthquake it can). Like said earlier with Skarmory, Lanturn resists Skarms weaknesses and Skarm resists Lanturns, making them a fantastic defensive duo. As a wall, Toxic despises is and Skarmory is even immune to that. The Ev's are self explanetory for a special wall, with a little more in SpA to deal hits a bit better.

I hope you guys like my team!
Spademan out

I would suggest changing Magnezone to the Scarfzone set, with HP Fire, it beats Scizor outright. I would also suggest changing Celebi to a LO Starmie, as this gives you insurence against Infernape, Salamence, Empoleon, Dragonite, Gyarados, and several other Pokemon. Also, You could replace Infernape with Scarftran, as this allows you to beat even more Pokemon.

If I had a scarftran and Scarfed Magnezone AND Scarfed Smeargel that would be a little overkill right?

And Ill try out LO Starmie, looks like it could work

oh and Are you sure that HP Fire w/ Scarf on Magnezone is all that great? I mean, the main purpose of the magnezone is to trap helpless steel pokemon and set up. Sure HP Fire beats Scizor outright but I already have Infernape for that

Thanks for the rate dude. Appreciate it

Well, if your not interested in Scarftran or Scarfzone, then keep your Magnezone set, although I would definantly recommend HP Fire, as almost every Steel Pokemon is weak to it. I would still recommend some form of heatran over Infernape though.

Thunderbolt out-damages HP Fire on every steel bar Scizor (who when locked into BP can't touch Maggy, Forretress (who normally carries Shed Shell anyway), and Steelix (who you shouldn't see in OU anyway).

Defininately don't get rid of Ape as he is pretty much your only sweeper. On your skarmory dilema (toxic Vs. spikes), it really just depends on personal preferance. Try them both out for 5 battles each 1 after the other and see which one you like better. However, I would like to point out that infernape likes spikes better and SR even more, and when to two are combine, things take heavy damage when coming in.

I suggest you switch your smeargle to this set:

~ Trick
~ Spore
~ Destiny Bond / Explosion
~ U-Turn

If you are using a trick lead, and not a spiker lead, it is better to mess up your opponent as much as you can early, then save smeargle against a slower sweeper, where you can destiny bond/explosion. U-turn is used to scout against your opponent's sleep absorber

I hope I helped :P

Thanks guys, protect has little value on a Scarfed lead, so im going to change it to destinyy bond. Ive tryed out Starmie and it seems like a better fit in than Celebi. Thanks guys for the help.
