VGC My Semi Rain Trick Room Team

When I was making a VGC team on Showdown, I thought of a semi trick room team with a twist. So I put a rain duo and a trick room duo together. This gave me Politoed and Ludicolo, along with Mega- Mawile and Cresselia.

Politoed @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 84 SpA / 252 SpD / 172 Spe
imgres

Calm Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Icy Wind
- Encore

This is a standard set on Politoed with Calm nature and 252 SpD to survive any special hit.

Ludicolo @ Assault Vest
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 156 SpD / 100 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Giga Drain
- Ice Beam
- Fake Out

Assault Vested Ludicolo as my Swift Swimmer able to tank special hits and give some out as well.

Mawile-Mega @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Play Rough
- Protect
Mawile to just completely destroy the competition. The only problem was the longevity of it.

Cresselia @ Mental Herb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Def / 96 SpA / 160 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock
- Rain Dance

I added Rain dance onto Cress incase my opponent had mega Charzard Y. So I would lead with Cress and Ludicolo.
Next I needed two pokemon that could go with both. I came with the conclusion of Talonflame and Greninja.

Talonflame @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Will-O-Wisp

I have Talonflame to fit with the Trick room team so he could just spam Brave Bird. He can also be used in the rain team for that but is mainly used for the Trick room team. Sometimes I would lead with Talonflame and Greninja if the opponent could counter the leads.

Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Rock Slide
- Protect

Greninja has great coverage and can use the rain to boost its Hydro Pump's and kill mega Charizard Y's with rock slide. On the first turn of my rain duo I would switched Politoed out for Greninja if I so no problems for Greninja, with greninja and ludicolo out on the field Icould take on anything. If a flying type came in I could Ice Beam. If Talonflame/ Charizard came in I could Rock Slide/ Hydro Pump.

Also I came up with this idea, when I saw Alex Ogloza's rain duo.

I believe more than a passing sentence is required for all of them including why you put them in, why you chose the moves/items/ev's/etc. Also it's really not a good idea to put two gimmicks that clash with each other in one team, rain+ swiftswim means you want to be the fastest thing on the field and hit the other team before they can react or adapt while trick room wants you to be the slowest thing and be able to go first. Most teams that decide to go with trick room or rain usually have 2 pokemon that work well in a certain condition (usually the weather starter and one other pokemon) another that can benefit from the weather but doesn't need it to do well, and usually 3 more that do not need the weather. This team relies on either rain being up or trick room being up to do well, which from my experience is not a very good thing.

RainRoom is a pretty neat strategy and all, but as nightwolf said, i find your team members to clash between each other. Maybe running Trick Room as optional speed control option against teams neither rain nor Trick Room like facing again (sand, for example) might work. What i mean is, use Trick Room only when the opponent is faster than you.
Also, you need a way to deal with Amoonguss effectively. Talonflame isn't the best Pokemon to have for it when you know you'll most likely get intimidated, miss on the KO and be putted to sleep.

How about adding a rain dish pokemon? So I would have a slow rain dish pokemon the switch in with Mawile. Oh and guys could you please try out the team.

Hello TerrakionSlide , and welcome to Smogon!

Unfortunately, this RMT is currently not following the rules which can be found in the RMT Resource Thread; specifically, this thread violates rule #4, because you lack sufficient descriptions for each Pokemon on your team. As such, I am afraid that I will have to lock this thread for the time being. If you would like this thread to be reopened, feel free to PM me with your updated RMT, and I would be happy to reopen this thread for you. If you need help making an RMT up to the required standards, I recommend that you carefully read the RMT Resource Thread and check out other RMTs from the Team Showcase and RMT Archive for some examples.

Good luck with your team, and have a nice day!
