Hello all. My name is Pho Shizzle, and I used to believe that an Adamant Pikachu with Nuzzle + Electro Ball would overpower all of the Pokemon meta-game (X/Y let me get away with this, don't judge) until the divine guidance of Smogon and the Helix Fossil showed me the way. Anyway, here is my first team that has seen at least some success, and I do hope you all can give me some criticism for my team of baddies.
Gliscor
Item: Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Def / 12 Spe
Nature: Impish (+Def -SpA)
Moves: Stealth Rock / Protect / Toxic / Knock Off
Description: Gliscor's here to lead with Hazards and also cripple tanks/physical sweepers who lack a reliable recovery. Stealth Rock for supporting Mega-Alakazam, and I decide to use it on Gliscor rather than Tyranitar to use the latter as a Special Wall. Toxic + Protect deals consistent damage to Physical sweepers who would threaten this team while retaining Gliscor's role as a wall. I choose Knock Off instead of Earthquake to better counter Chansey and Choice Band Scizor.
Scizor
Item: Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Nature: Adamant (+Atk -SpA)
Moves: Bullet Punch / U-Turn / Pursuit / Superpower
Description: So OU it hurts. Scizor's here mainly for synergy with Rotom-W and to check some priority users that would threaten Alakazam: most notably Azumarill. I have opted for Choice Band to better synergize with Rotom-W while giving a stronger presence for Scizor in the early game.
Rotom-W
Item: Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 232 HP / 56 SpA / 220 Spe
Nature: Modest (+SpA -Atk)
Moves: Volt Switch / Hydro Pump / Hidden Power Ice / Trick
Description: Rotom-W's here for synergy with Scizor, while also to counter Talonflame, who would otherwise threaten Alakazam. Hydro Pump, though more inconsistent than Surf, gives Rotom-W a much needed power spike. Hidden Power Ice threatens Dragonite and Gliscor. Trick cripples Chansey, slows down setup from Skarmory and Foretress, and counters the occasional Assault-Vest Rotom-W. I choose HP Ice instead of Will-O-Wisp to take care of opposing Gliscors.
Excadrill
Item: Assault Vest
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 176 HP / 60 Atk / 252 SpD / 20 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk -SpA)
Moves: Rapid Spin / Rock Slide / Earthquake / Shadow Claw
Description: I'm bad at Pokemon so I just copy and pasted the Gen 5 EV spread ;_; . Excadrill provides much-needed Rapid Spin support for Scizor and Rotom-W while also checking Rotom-W. Rock Slide OHKOs Talonflame given the chance. Earthquake gives needed coverage, as I have opted for Knock Off instead on Gliscor. Shadow Claw is most notably for the occasional Trevanant, but also serves well to check opposing Alakazams.
Tyranitar
Item: Assault Vest
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Nature: Sassy (+SpD -Spe)
Moves: Fire Blast / Rock Slide / Crunch / Earthquake
Description: Tyranitar's here as a pure special sponge while also countering Talonflame (I really hate Talonflame if you haven't noticed). The combination of Assault Vest, Sand Stream, and Rock Slide serve to check Charizard-Y. Fire Blast makes quick work of Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Forretress: all of whom would otherwise enjoy free setup on this team. Crunch provides reliable STAB against Psychic types. Earthquake enables Tyranitar to better counter Heatran.
Mega-Alakazam
Item: Mega Alakazite
Ability: Magic Guard -> Trace
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Modest (+SpA -Atk)
Moves: Psyshock / Focus Blast / Shadow Ball / Hidden Power Fire
Description: Alakazam serves mainly as a late-game sweeper. Stealth Rock support from Gliscor and stalling Alakazam's switch-in to the late-game ensures as many OHKOs as possible, while centering the role of the team to check many of the popular priority users secures Alakazam's sweeping potential. Psyshock lets Mega-Alakazam OHKO standard variations of Mega-Venasaur with ease. Shadow Ball allows consistent damage against other Alakazams. Hidden Power Fire deals more respectable damage against Physical Tank Venasaur and Scizor.
Problems So Far:
1) Mega-Scizor with Bullet Punch + Roost + Swords Dance absolutely destroys this team. Bisharp cripples all but Gliscor.
2) No reliable cleric (I switch out Tyranitar with Blissey every now and then, but doing so robs the team of a reliable Psyshock check)
3) Rotom-W being my only safe check to Water Types (Clawitzer is a problem to this team)
4) If Gliscor dies before taking care of main physical threats, GG.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I do thank you even more ahead of time if you take the time to suggest changes to my team. That is all, have a good one.
