My First Team

Hi everyone! I am new to the competitive scene and have been having fun in the UU tier. I've watched alot of Youtube Videos of battles (Haydunn and Shofu) and have settled on this tier. This is my first hand made team and am in need of some assistance as to what walls I should use for defense and coverage.

High-Five (Ambipom) (M) @ Silk Scarf
Trait: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Fake Out
- U-turn
- Taunt
- Return

This little dude is my lead. Fake-Out for some cheap damage and the flinch. Taunt to deny the Stealth Rocks and T-Wave/Toxic/Will-O. Return for a STAB move should I ever need to KO something. U-Turn for the switch out with damage. Silk Scarf>Life Orb because I usually switch into him a lot to take Ghost hits on Chandelure so I dont want him taking any damage.

Zimmers (Chandelure) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Pain Split
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
- Flamethrower

My Special Sweeper. Shadow Ball and Flamethrower for good STAB and coverage. Hide behind a Sub, kill whatever is out there, and then Pain Split to keep going. Life Orb is for the extra damage so it synergizes well with Pain Split and my Sawsbuck.

Dat HulkBulk (Machamp) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: No Guard
EVs: 212 HP / 252 Atk / 44 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- DynamicPunch
- Ice Punch
- Stone Edge

Same role as Chandelure, just physical. DPunch, Ice Punch, and Stone Edge are for coverage and good Damage. Sub because this is a sub team. It has leftovers because it doesn't have the same "reliable" recovery as Chandelure.

xatu.jpg

Xatu (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- U-turn
- Wish

Standard Wish Xatu set. Dual Screens because they are good. U-Turn to get Wish on allies. Wish because good. Leftovers because good.

milotic.jpg

Milotic (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Marvel Scale
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Recover
- Ice Beam
- Dragon Tail

Milotic is for Def and more coverage. Scald and Ice Beam for said coverage. Recover because its good. Dragon Tail to switch out set ups.

sawsbuck-detail-winter.png

Bamby (Sawsbuck-Winter) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Baton Pass
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Agility
Newest addition to team. Leech Seed for extra health. Agility for more speed. Substitute because its a Sub team. Then Baton Pass to give it all to either Chandelure or Machamp.

The two I am unhappy with currently are Xatu and Milotic. I want walls in their spots but I also want coverage that the team doesnt have. I need some kind of flying damage to cover Machamp and some Ground Type to cover EQuakes on Chandelure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :D

Hey there, welcome to the competitive battling scene!

I can see right off the bat that Sub Calm Mind Raikou could give you problems because you have two weaknesses to it (and Sawsbuck as the resist, but most Raikou carry Hidden Power Ice). You do have Dragon Tail on Milotic, but +1 Thunderbolt can easily OHKO Milotic. Raikou can set up on really any Pokemon (mainly Sawsbuck because of its lack of attacks, Milotic because it can set up a sub on it, Xatu because it will force a switch, and Chandelure because it's faster.

I recommend replacing Milotic (since you have Chandelure to help with Fire-types anyways) with Swampert as any Sub CM Raikou set without HP Grass will be walled by Swampert and you can take it out with an Earthquake. Swampert can also set up Stealth Rock for your team and you won't have to rely on Xatu to get it up for you by bouncing the opponent's back.

Swampert
Swampert (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 240 HP / 216 Def / 52 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Beam
- Earthquake
- Roar

Hope I helped, and good luck with competitive battling!
