Anything Goes My first RMT: Chi-Yu+Screens

Hi I'm new here, but I've done some competitive battling before, mainly in AG. I'm here to look at how I can improve my team!

This is probably a HO team but I'm not entirely sure.

:chi-yu: :groudon: :grimmsnarl: :arceus: :koraidon: :calyrex-shadow:

Chi-Yu @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Beads of Ruin
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Flame Charge
- Flamethrower
- Dark Pulse
- Nasty Plot

The star of the show, Flame Charge NP Chi-Yu! Chi-Yu has amazing offensive stats, but it's not very fast for AG standards. A speed boost is needed, so I added Flame Charge to compensate. Chi-Yu is quite frail, but under screens that's not a huge problem.

Flamethrower and Dark Pulse are strong STAB moves. Boots held item cause I have no hazard control, and while Flying tera is an odd choice, it gives me Ground/Fighting resist to setup. And Hasty with 4 Atk... I... Don't know. Back when I was still tera Fire, FlameCharge could kill weakened walls. I'll leave that for you to fix...

Groudon @ Leftovers
Ability: Drought
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Bulk Up
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Will-O-Wisp

This was more of an afterthought. My team was really weak to Zacian (i still kinda am) so I added PhysDef Groudon, who can tank most things Zacian throws at it. I'm the most uncertain about this, but I really need a Zacian counter.

Lefties for passive recovery, Bulk Up to boost both offense and defense, Rocks cause I need hazards, and Wisp being good for any Physical attacker.

Grimmsnarl (M) @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Taunt
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Parting Shot

Grimm provides some much-needed bulk to setup with. Pretty standard dual screens set, but with Taunt over Play Rough to stop opposing hazards/setup. Cause once again. No hazard removal, but I can't find a way to fit one in.

Arceus @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Multitype
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 236 HP / 252 Atk / 20 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Shadow Claw
- Taunt

Standard Ekiller Arceus, following most of the Smogon importable. But with Taunt over Recover cause I'll be under screens, and Arceus isn't frail. It can tank a few hits. I also found tera Normal to be more useful, for the extra priority.

Koraidon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Orichalcum Pulse
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Close Combat
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz

Scarf Korai, very standard. I originally put it there to kill Zacian, and it still does that well, but U-turn is helpful in building momentum too. Not much else to say.

Calyrex-Shadow @ Choice Scarf
Ability: As One (Spectrier)
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Astral Barrage
- Grass Knot
- Trick
- Psychic

Yes, 2 Scarfers. I really don't know why. I just tested things around and found them both useful. Well, anyway, Caly-S is very strong, but speed ties against other Calys is quite annoying, and I personally really like the Scarf set. After just 1 boost it can rampage already. Trick can also be helpful for stuff like Dirge or TingLu.

So that's my team! I know it needs help, but I hope I did well on it.

Hey! Gonna try to keep the core with Koraidon Calyrex-S Grimmsnarl Ekiller and Chi-Yu when I work on this. Chi-Yu is not very good in current meta, but I will try to make it work as much as I can.

To start off, HO teams such as this don't really want a defensive backbone. They want to continually apply offensive pressure and overcome defensive teams. You need more raw power. As such, some minor changes I'd make to sets would be:

:calyrex-shadow: ->

Calyrex-Shadow @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: As One (Spectrier)
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Grass
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Astral Barrage
- Grass Knot
- Encore

This set is more potent on HO and takes advantage of Ekiller trying to revenge something such as a Scale Shot Koraidon, which is what our next change will be:

:koraidon: ->

Koraidon @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Orichalcum Pulse
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Fire
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Scale Shot
- Flare Blitz
- Low Kick

Ideally, Ekiller would like more power to get going on these immediate teams, and as such, I would run Life Orb or Silk Scarf over Heavy-Duty Boots here.

Also would make Chi-Yu something like Wise Glasses / Life Orb / Black Glasses instead of Boots but Chi-Yu may be fine, thats optional.

Final change would be :glimmora: instead of :groudon:. This is more effective for HO teams, as its an immediate lead that can Memento into a sweeper as well.

Here is the final team:

Tysm for the rate!

I tested it out, and wow it's much better! Glimm is amazing if its sash isn't broken immediately, Caly-S threatening Encore is really useful, and Grimm with attack is great too.

Made Chi-Yu Charcoal to make sun boosted Flamethrower/Flame Charge do more. But I find that if I sac glimm to Zacian and go to Chi with intention to tera Flying, they assume I'm scarf and switch out. So now I play with that in mind.

Taka has done a great job making the changes therefore i have only got 1 change which could help this team Chi Yu is good but outside screens is a bit less bulky than Miraidon so if you want to change the star of this team double dance Miraidon is could be good for this role. Untitled 33 (pokepast.es) this set is the standard double dance set but i has the potential to sweep if people are not ready and if Miraidon is under screens consider that you won.
this is the pokepast with Miraidon on the team Untitled 34 (pokepast.es)
a sweep by using your team with Miraidon https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9anythinggoes-1990333633
PS: I have gotten swept by Miraidon without screens 5 times i dont want to imagine double dance Miraidon under screens

Actually that sounds like a good idea! Chi yu was always a little too frail, mirai sounds great. The point of Chi-Yu tho, was to use an unusual mon and still win. I guess Miraidon's better so ill do that. Im actually experimenting with non rocks glimm rn, which sounds stupid but it gives a surprise factor with KOs with Earth Power.

+1 on the miraidon, I was going around your chi yu idea but miraidon is just better

you can also switch lefties on Miraidon with weakness policy to get +2 spa if they use a super effective move and yet have the screen support to neutralise 1 attack
