My Dragon-Themed Team

Before I begin, I want to point out that I was already helped out a bit with this team by another forum. I brought it here for some more tweaking, as a dragon themed (not typed, although four dragon types causes some issues) team has some major weak points:

Ribbon (Female Garchomp)
Adamant @ Yache Berry
-Dragon Claw
-Earthquake
-Fire Fang
-Swords Dance
Spread:
-252 Attack
-252 Speed
-4 HP

Notes: She has 31 attack and 31 speed, making her a force to be reckoned with. Obviously my powerhouse. Already fully ev trained. Her defense is crap, though (1 or 2 IV's... Forget which). Her sister also has an Adamant nature and 31 attack and 31 speed, so if I need to start over (not likely), then I have her for back up/trading if I get fed up with breeding for IV's. And no, she isn't my opener. Also, she happens to have been blessed with 28 Special Defense IV's, which helps her further with Ice Beams

Aljrlieguh (Female Milotic)
Modest @ Leftovers
-Surf
-Recover
-Ice Beam
-HP Electric (68 power = Gyarados killer)
Spread:
-252 Defense
-164 Special Attack
-56 Special Defense
-36 HP

Notes: 31 Special Attack and 31 Special Defense = Happy me. Her IV list, in full, is: 16 HP, 17 Atk, 26 Def (not too shabby), 31 SpA, 31 SpD, and 6 Speed. I figure that, if I don't manage to take out a Garchomp before it Swords Dances, then I can switch into my Gyarados. If the Garchomp EQ's, well, yeah. Otherwise, Intimadate will weaken the attack, and the threat of being KO'd (the Ice Beam should do some nasty damage) should force them to switch, allowing me a free DD. If I feel it is too much of a threat, then the Gyarados should be able to take it out anyways. Her stats with these EV's would be 325 HP, 126 Atk, 252 Def (With 252 EV's... XDDDDDD), 300 SpA, 300 SpD, and 173 Speed

Dragonite
Adamant @ Leftovers
-Roost
-Dragon Claw
-Earthquake
-Dragon Dance
Spread: Depends on IV's

Notes: Haven't had time to look at it yet. It was originally meant to be a Jack-of-all-Trades, covering Sweeper, Tank, and Annoyer. However, somebody on the other forums told me no. So, it is now a Bulky Sweeper

Kingdra
Modest @ Damp Rock
-Yawn
-Dragon Pulse
-Surf
-Rain Dance
Spread:
-252 Defence
-252 Sp. Defence
-4 HP

Notes: A tank. I am working off of the fact that it has only one weakness: Dragon :D

Salamence
Timid @ Choice Specs
-Draco Meteor
-Fire Blast
-Hydro Pump
-Dragon Pulse
Spread:
-252 Special Attack
-252 Speed
-4 HP

Notes: Suggested by someone else to replace my physical Salamence that knew Draco Meteo. Honestly, upon looking at it now, I don't like this Salamence too much due to Hydro Pump and Fire Blast

Gyarados
Adamant @ Life Orb
80 HP / 252 Attack / 176 Speed
-Dragon Dance
-Waterfall
-Earthquake
-Ice Fang

Suggested as the final member of my team on the other forum, as I was having troubles picking between Pokemon such as Flygon, Altaria, etc. So, pretty much, I came up with the first four, and they were changed around a bit by others. The last two were either complete revamps or suggested Pokemon

Now, some help please? And, just for reference, this was my original idea for Salamence:

Salamence
Jolly or Adamant @ ??? (Wasn't sure what to give it)
-Dragon Claw
-Dragon Dance
-Aerial Ace/Fire Fang/Flamethrower
-Draco Meteor
Spread:
-252 Attack
-252 Speed
-4 Sp Attack

Notes: Another physical Pokemon. Has Draco Meteor as a, "Surprise! You're Screwed!" Sort of move

The first thing I notice about your team is that it has a massive Boltbeam weakness. Choice Scarf Porygon-Z in particular can just sit there and fire off Ice Beam all day since two of your Water types don't resist Ice.

Gyarados is pointless for your team; you have enough physical threats as it is and Gyara isn't the best switch in for Ice Beam.

Though it doesn't fit the theme at all, a defensive Jirachi could prove useful to this team since it actually resists Ice moves. Salamence and Dragonite also augment Jirachi's weaknesses perfectly.

Regarding Salamence, you could--and should--use Flamethrower over Fire Blast. Hydro Pump is only used for Heatran (and the Rock/Steel hybrids which nobody uses anyway) so you'll be using it very rarely.

Ok. I want to stick with a Dragon-Themed team for OU, however, and besides, no GBA means I can't use my Jirachi Bonus Disc

With my team, any Pokemon based around a Dragon in appearance (I consider Milotic based on sea dragons and some Chinese Dragons), so maybe that will help tell you about the pool of Pokemon I am working with

I am curious about something with Salamence... What do you think of the Physical one I have at the end that was my original plan?

And if it helps yet again, here is the original idea for Dragonite that I had:

Dragonite
Jolly or Adamant @ ???
-Roost
-Dragon Claw
-Thunderwave
-Aerial Ace/Dragon Dance
Spread: Depends on IV's

Notes: Essentially a last ditch Pokemon. The Dragonite is meant to cover Tank, Annoyer, and Sweeper all at once. Basically, it fills whatever role is needed at the time

For Dragonite I would recommend:

Dragonite @ Yache Berry
Adamant
80 HP/ 202 ATK/ 228 SPE
-Dragon Dance
-Outrage/Dragon Claw
-Thunderwave
-Fire Punch

Roost foregos one of Dragonite's best traits, immunity to Earthquake. Thunderwave and DD on the switch. Even if they decide to stay in, Yache guarantees that you get at least one Dragon Dance off. If you feel lucky, go for 2. Fire Punch helps get rid of Ice types like Weavile and Mamoswine. I prefer Outrage/DD is a combo that only Dragonite can use (not including Rayquaza) so I would use that but you you don't like confuse then Dragon Claw is still a viable option.

My attempt at a Dragonite (assuming 31 IVs on everything, although I will never get that lucky):

Dragonite @ Leftovers/Lum Berry/Yache Berry
Adamant Nature
150 HP/96 Def/56 SDef/208 Speed
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Fire Blast
-Dragon Dance

Yeah, people are probably going to note that there are no attack EVs, that's because I'm doing a defensive spread. Enough EVs to give it 350 HP and 250 in both Defenses, assuming 31 IVs. The rest go into Speed, giving it a possible 248 speed so that it can take a decent hit, and after a single DD it has 501 Attack and 372 speed, tying any pokemon with a Base 120 Speed with Max EVs running a +Speed nature (Dugtrio, Alakazam, Sceptile).

The moveset is pretty standard, with Fire Blast there specifically for Skarmory (most Skarms don't have Special Defense IVs and it outdamages Fire Punch). The item is pretty much personal preference. Leftovers to recover HP lost from DDancing up, Lum Berry to cure a Will-o-Wisp, Thunder Wave, or Outrage confusion, or Yache Berry to reduce Ice damage during the DD phase.

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Adamant Nature
76 HP/28 Attack/98 Def/56 SDef/252 Speed
-Waterfall
-Ice Fang
-Earthquake
-Dragon Dance

Again, the EVs are defensively spread. Special Defense is given more EV priority because Intimidate is like an auto-Defense boost. In this spread (assuming 31 IVs, again, you have to be very lucky to get 31 IVs) this gives 350 HP, 333 Attack, 218 Defense, 250 SDef, and 261 Speed. After a single DD you have 500 Attack and 391 Speed (you're only outran by Jolteon, Aerodactyl, Crobat, and Ninjask). Obviously a major threat.

EDIT: these are suggestions. While I have a good Dragonite and Gyarados, I don't have the greatest IVs so my EV spreads are a bit different to maximize both offense and defense.

i really really like this team and i've been looking for an effective dragon themed-team too but i do suggest using a Jirachi for defensive purposes. It can also support the team with Wish and maybe a Light Screen or Reflect. Not to mention it has access to all elemental punches + a possibility of serene grace hax EDIT: and you could also use a Magnezone to get rid of the opposing Steel so you can set up your dragons for a nice sweep

Need to revive this for one reason:

Garchomp is no longer OU (And yet Tyrannitar still is >.> Fucking hell, Tyrannitar is better suited for the Uber tier than Garchomp)

Any decent dragon-type replacements? Also, there goes MONTHS of breeding *Is pretty pissed*

Now, I'm not the greatest one to go to for advice seeing as I'm still a total newbie here, but I could see a Bellyzard having some potential merit here. It could cover the Steels that would otherwise wall your dragons' STABs, and you might have a bit more freedom with your movesets if you didn't have to make sure everything had to cover their own weaks. It's just a thought so don't quote me on it, but hopefully my ideas will have some merit.

Bleh, that didn't make sense at all.

Ribbon wasn't the lead before Garchomp were promoted. I'm just lazy XD

Yeah, I DID think about Charizard. Then I thought about Stealth Rock x.x

>.> What I'M wondering is why Garchomp got promoted to Uber, when its immunity will rarely come in handy and it is weak to Ice Beam AND Dragon Types, both of which run rampant in Uber, while Tyrannitar is still OU, despite the fighting weakness rarely being tested in Uber, the dark type allowing it to tear through the Psychic types there, and Groudon and Kyogre being the only real counters to it (due to sandstream reducing the threat from grass or water type attacks significantly)...

Honestly, I am considering just keeping Ribbon in my team, and if somebody complains about Garchomp's tier, I could just say, "Considering how much better Tyrannitar is than Garchomp, and considering that Tyrannitar is still OU, well, you can complain once Tyrannitar is in Uber"

...Honestly. I KNOW it has to do with one of the move tutors in Platinum, but what move could actually cause Garchomp to be more worthy of Uber than Tyrannitar?

EDIT: Would Flygon make a good substitute? If so, what should I do with it?
