My attempt at a Mega Aerodactyl team - I need a lot of help

I really like mega aerodactyl. I think if used right it could be a really good revenge killer/late game sweeper. In order to do that it needs good teammates though. Earlier today I decided to try and make a team based around mega aerodactyl, and while I thought it looked good on paper it has been downright TERRIBLE in practice. I would really appreciate any feedback on how to make this team good and if there are Pokemon that are better teammates for mega aerodactyl. Here is the team -

Mega_Aerodactyl.png

Aerodactyl-Mega @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Aerial Ace
- Aqua Tail
- Hone Claws

This team is based around this guy and I really want to find a way to make him work. I try to wear down my opponents team to were I can come in on a pokemon that cannot hurt me too much, set up a hone claws, and sweep. I have not been able to do this due to the rest of the team being unable to wear down my oppenent like i would like. Earthquake/stone edge/aerial ace gives some really good coverage and should be very powerful after a hone claws boost (and 100% accurate stone edges would be nice too)

479-heat.png

Rotom-Heat @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overheat
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Trick

I really had big hopes for this guy but he just has not performed well. He is too frail and can never seem to do his job correctly without being killed in the process. Would like him to screw over physical attackers with a combination of tricking choice specs onto them and burning them. This has only worked once and he has really been a dead weight on this team. Any suggestions of a better Pokemon to use would be great.

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 48 Def / 252 HP / 208 SDef
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Thunder Wave
- Power Whip
- Stealth Rock

Probably the only Pokemon on the team that has actually done its job. Ferrothorn has been great at wearing down my opponent and forcing switches with leech seed. He also let's me set up rocks to further wear down my opponents team. I have had no problems with him so far and am fine with keeping him the same.

3666145-4640621257-tenta.gif

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 240 Def / 252 HP / 16 Spd
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic

Another Pokemon I had high hopes for but just hasn't performed well. It just isn't bulky enough for my liking and has not been able to do anything useful for me without being killed off first. Any suggestions for a spinner/defogger that would work better with this team would be greatly appreciated.

1898364-445garchomp.png

Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Outrage
- Stone Edge

Garchomp has been.....okay. Choice scarf let's me out speed nearly anything and he has gotten me a few helpful ko's. Ground+dragon is a great STAB combination and is quite powerful. If I can get rid of my opponents fairy/steels, outrage can usually take out a few Pokemon. But even so he hasn't been the greatest and I feel there is probably another Pokemon that would be more synergetic with my team.

profile_picture_by_chansey_plz-d4ot5kb.png

Chansey (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Def / 4 HP / 252 SDef
Bold Nature
- Aromatherapy
- Seismic Toss
- Soft-Boiled
- Toxic

I love chansey. I have gotten to the point where it is hard for me to make a team without it. But it just doesn't seem to go well with this team for whatever reason. Maybe it is because I am more used to playing with more defensive/stallish teams but chansey just doesn't synergize with this team like I'm use to it doing.

Well there's the team. Feel free to suggest anything that you think would make this team better. I really am determined to make a good team based in mega aerodactyl and I don't want to just give up on this.

Hey! I decided to come and drop in to try and improve the team. First of all, I don't think Hone Claws is a good alternative on Aerodactyl, as he really isn't a sweeper. What I think will benefit your Aerodactyl most is a broader coverage, as M-Aerodactyl works great as an incredibly fast offensive threats, who can wield a great number of dangerous coverage options. I would switch Hone Claws to Fire Fang, and EQ to Aqua Tail or Ice Fang. Fire Fang is used to hit Skarmory, Ferrothorn and Scizor hard, and with Tough Claws boost, it becomes practically as powerful as EQ. With Tough Claws, Aqua Tail becomes you strongest attack, and can be used to hit Rock and Ground-types. On the other hand, Ice Fang effectively revenge kills the myriad of Dragon-types, and is the best option against Lando and Gliscor. Also, switch your nature to Adamant, as you really don't need the extra speed.

As your Rotom-H aims to check physical attackers, and wear down opponent's team in general, I suggest using a defensive set, such as the one found below. With a physically defensive spread, Rotom-H becomes a great check to powerful physical attackers, such as Talonflame and M-Pinsir. You can use Pain split + Leftovers for recovery, or Rest + Chesto Berry to better take on Status, and get a one time chance to go to full health. Also, I think Rotom-H has a decent synergy with your specially defensive Ferrothorn. Your Ferrothorn is overall quite standard, I don't really have anything to say about him.
move 1: Overheat
move 2: Volt Switch
move 3: Will-O-Wisp
move 4: Pain Split / Rest
ability: Levitate
item: Leftovers / Chesto Berry
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

As you said, Tentacruel has been a disappointment, and you really should switch him to a better hazard remover. I have two options for you, both of them can be good additions to your team, depending of the direction you want to take with the hazard remover. If you want to have a defensive approach, such as your Tentacruel has, I suggest trying Mew as a Defogger. Mew is one of the most reliable Defoggers, and he can use Will-o-Wisp to effectively cripple physical attackers. Speed EVs let you outspeed Bisharp, Cloyster and Breloom. If you want to use a more offensive approach, I would suggest trying a Rapid Spin Starmie. Starmie is the second best Rapid Spin user, and has the added benefit of spinning more easily against DeoSharp cores. Also, with Life Orb, Analytic and a good Speed tier, he can also easily dent things that want to switch against him. Psyshock is a good STAB that hits hard against Poison and Fighting-types, whereas Thunderbolt offers better coverage overall. I would consider using Fire Blast with a Naive nature on your Garchomp, as it lets you get past Skarmory and Ferrothorn more easily. Fire Blast could replace Dragon Claw. Your Chansey is quite standard, and I can't really say if there's something that could work better in its role. I hope these suggestions can be of help to your team, good luck teambuilding!

Thanks for the advice! I will try out aqua tail on aerodactyl but I will miss the 100% accurate boosted stone edges, I thought it nay be a good sweeper because after a hone claws it essentially has the same speed and attack as a +1+1 charizard x, plus it has an accuracy boost but I will try out the set with more coverage and see how that works. I will definitely try out the defensive rotom-h set because it seems a lot better than the one I am bow using. As for my spinner I will probably try out starmie because I like having my in team the same as my showdown team and on WiFi I cannot use mew. I will also try fireblast on garchomp. I really wish I had tried this team out on a different showdown account because I was above 1600 on the ou ladder and after around 12 games with thus team I only won 2 and I'm now all the way down around 1490:/ thanks again for the advice and I hope this helps my team:)
