Hi guys, I've recently started playing showdown and I wanted to make my own team. Here it is, hovering around 1600 elo rn.
Importable: https://pokepast.es/bfcd3d7663552895
General Overview:
This team is a fast, hard hitting snow team. 5/6 mons are directly benefitted or completely unbothered by the presence of snow, so I do my best to keep it up. I would say every mon with the exception of the two terrain setters have sweeping capability, so one wrong move by an opponent can cost them the game. Having 3 mons w setup moves isn't the most efficient imo, so maybe on my next team I'll work on that. Overall, I lead Blaziken whenever I can. Early SD + Speed boost is a lot to handle, and there a lot of switch ins if we get a bad opening matchup. Kommo-o handles a lot of tanks. Shell smash skill link cloyster is a monster in snow, vs torn, any bird, and dragon, and fire. Electric and fighting destroy it though. Ninetales and Abomasnow are pivots to keep screens and snow up, and have some good coverage moves with them. Arctozolt is a snow-only demolition option. With slush rush active, bolt beak is so strong against fini and pretty much our only water coverage. It has great coverage vs weaknesses and with the balloon has it's chances to turn the battle.
The team:
Kommo-o @ Lum Berry
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Clangorous Soul
- Drain Punch
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
Rather than the special attacking clangorous soul/scales/throat spray set, I decided to run a physical attacking one as it's off-meta. Drain punch is a strong move that helps regain some of our lost hp during clangorous soul. Drain punch stab, eq for fire and pex coverage, iron head for fairy coverage. Running overcoat for no snow chip damage in case it is switched in after our Ninetales. Lum berry to avoid status while you setup. Also lum berry in case you wanted to sub outrage in protects against confusion.
Ninetales-Alola @ Light Clay
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aurora Veil
- Hypnosis
- Dark Pulse
- Safeguard
Pretty common lead. Fast enough to guaranteed get screens up against most mons, has dark pulse for psychic and ghost coverage as we don't have much coverage for those types. If they have a bad matchup vs us, I like to get up screens, then safeguard, then either sack ninetales trying to hit hypnosis or switch it out. Running light clay over icy rock so that snow goes out quicker in case I have Blaziken trailing and because screens help all my mons.
Blaziken @ Lum Berry
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Flare Blitz
- Close Combat
- Thunder Punch
Your physical sweeper. Sometimes I lead this to throw people off. If they lead someone like ferrothorn or kart, you often win games bc you can SD on their switch out and w max speed and the 1.5 boost after one turn, it instantly becomes dangerous. Flare Blitz and CC great stabs w fantastic coverage, you can punish Blissey, T-tar, Krookodile and more w CC and Flare Blitz destroys Kart, Thorn, Mamoswine, Scizor and more. Thunder Punch is outstanding on this mon- you can punish mons like Fini, Barraskewda, Toxapex, and all the birds. Super great coverage move as it hits both flying and water types super effectively. Speed boost because we want it to sweep and lum berry in case safeguard goes down and a Toxic comes in.
Cloyster @ Lum Berry
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Icicle Spear
- Poison Jab
- Liquidation
- Shell Smash
Sneaky Sweeper. Skill link cloyster is a monster. After a shell smash, a 2x attack and speed, base 125 icicle spear, plus stab and on this team often snow is a terrifying combo. Liquidation for stab and when combined with SS a fairly strong, accurate move. Poison jab for fairy coverage (whole team pretty weak to fairy) and grass coverage. If worried ab slowbros or dark mons, can run pin missile over poison jab for another strong base 125 move because of skill link. Lum berry to often get shell smash off and start clicking icicle spear, can also run the electric-resist berry (I think it's called Occa). Typically my go-to after I get screens, safeguard and snow up. Cloyster can then take a hit from pretty much anything and is a good matchup against anything that was strong nearly anything that was against ninetales (fire types, can handle steel and poison). One shell smash and you're in business.
Abomasnow @ Icy Rock
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Aurora Veil
- Safeguard
- Wood Hammer
- Ice Punch
Bulky pivot. Abomasnow nearly never leads for me, unless they're particularly weak to snow and I want to start with a 8 turn hail instead of 5 w ninetales. He can tank hits from mons like Rillaboom and be a good pivot. I typically use him if I'm trying to set up arctozolt after or if I need to re-establish hail/aurora veil. Strong stab in wood hammer too.
Arctozolt @ Air Balloon
Ability: Slush Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 6 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Icicle Spear
- Low Kick
- Stomping Tantrum
Hail sweeper. Against anyone who lets you keep hail up, arctozolt is a frequent match winner. Slush rush to get double speed in snow (to outspeed mons but mainly for bolt beak). Bolt beak unbelievably strong stab, especially in hail where you outspeed most mons, icicle spear good v torn, all dragons and birds. low kick good vs thorn blissey and a couple others. stomping tantrum good against fire mons and other electric mons. I have been considering running banded arctozolt, as stomping tantrum and low kick would be so much stronger as surprise super-effective attacks. I think that'd change its role a bit though. I run air balloon to temporarily stop ground types vs me, and if it hasn't been used yet, as a switch in vs an attempted earthquake on Blaziken.
