Yes. You read it right, I am trying to make Morpeko work in SV/OU. I got this idea in SW/SH when one of the YouTubers I watch made a banded Morpeko video. The only Pokemon I am not willing to change is The Peak, I like the speed boost of Aura Wheel in combination with tera dark or tera electric. The interaction breaks the type swapping of Aura Wheel and it is stuck on what the move's type was when you clicked it, for example if you are looking at a dark type Aura Wheel and tera dark, you will have a dark type Morpeko with a 110BP, 100% Accuracy, physical dark type move that always increases your speed by 1. This team is by no means optimal, and I would love to have some input on some different sets or different mons entirely.
Peak (Morpeko) @ Choice Band
Ability: Hunger Switch
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Aura Wheel
- Rapid Spin
- Seed Bomb
- Knock Off
This is the main man, on this team he doesn't shine much because the opponent just sends out a ground type. This pokemon has extremely low defenses so I was thinking of building a screen based team but ultimately decided against it. I included Seed Bomb as coverage on ground types, even though it doesn't feel very useful as most ground types in the format outspeed Peak without any boosts. Rapid spin is a move that I hardly ever use in battles because of how frail Morpeko is, but Glimmora gets Mortal Spin walled by a steel type in almost every game. For the EVs I went basic and just maxed Atk and Spe because I wasn't sure what other EVs to invest in.
Mora That (Glimmora) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Toxic Debris
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Mortal Spin
- Earth Power
- Sludge Wave
Glimmora is here as my rock setter, toxic spikes and stealth rocks are hopefully chipping away at the enemy team to set up a sweep. There aren't many bells or whistles to this set as I just copied it from the Smogon set.
Walled (Gliscor) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 244 HP / 12 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Protect
- Swords Dance
I actually find Gliscor working really well in this team. In the low ladder where I reside, nobody respects the power of SD Gliscor Knock Off. Tera water gets rid of both water and ice weaknesses and if used late in the game, can often wall half of the opponents mons.
Gerpo (Ogerpon-Wellspring) @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Ivy Cudgel
- Play Rough
- Power Whip
Ogerpon is just a good pokemon, next question. All jokes aside, Ogerpon is a very strong physical attacker with great defensive typing. I use Ogerpon as my check for ground types as well as just being a great all around attacker.
Iron in Valorant (Iron Valiant) @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Aura Sphere
- Moonblast
- Thunderbolt
IVal is who I picked to be one of my main special attackers. Booster energy allows it to outspeed most threats with a few exceptions, I opted for Aura Sphere over Focus Blast for the accuracy, I feel like FBlast is less likely to hit than fissure. TBolt is there for flying types if Morpeko gets wiped out. I originally had the tera type as fairy, but I asked for some help in the OU chat and was told that Steel would be a better fit. To be completely honest, I find myself almost never clicking Tera on IVal so I haven't really felt a difference.
Ty Collar Sign (Typhlosion-Hisui) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Blaze
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Eruption
- Flamethrower
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
Typhlosion H is kind of my "Oh Sh**" button when I have no idea what to do. Eruption does wonderful damage that almost always connects first due to the Scarf. Originally I had Will-O-Wisp as the last slot instead of FBlast, but I felt like most of the opponent's team will already be poisoned if everything goes to plan, and it is not fun to be locked into a status move with Scarf.
To wrap up everything, I am by no means a good player. I got almost every one of these sets off the internet and combined them to make a team that I thought might work well together. I am open to any and all criticism (Including changing entire pokemon, aside from Morpeko). I have never peaked over 1400 and that was in SW/SH OU when Morpeko was working slightly better. I was thinking of building a slightly bulkier team and dropping one of the special attackers or pivoting towards a dual screens/aurora veil team but I have no idea where to start
Thank you for reading this ridiculous team explanation :)
