Due to its great stats, Fighting typing, and access to Vacuum Wave, Kommo-o has cemented itself as a staple on Dragon teams, aiding in the Steel, Ice, and Dark matchups. Throat Spray is great in conjunction with Clanging Scales and Clangorous Soul, improving Kommo-o's wallbreaking capabilities and allowing it to OHKO Meowscarada after a Clangorous Soul boost. Vacuum Wave OHKOes Chien-Pao and picks off weakened Dark-types such as Choice Scarf Meowscarada and Greninja. Flamethrower allows Kommo-o to nail Steel- and Ice-types like Gholdengo, Corviknight, and Alolan Ninetales, while Flash Cannon hits Fairy-types such as Iron Valiant, Clefable, and Galarian Weezing. Hisuian Goodra is an excellent teammate due to its Fairy-type neutrality, acting as a switch-in to Flutter Mane, Enamorus, and Hatterene. Cyclizar removes detrimental entry hazards like Toxic Spikes to preserve Kommo-o's longevity and shields Kommo-o via Shed Tail, easing setup and preventing revenge killing attempts. Garchomp offers Spikes and Stealth Rock support to wear down Kommo-o's switch-ins such as Toxapex, Alolan Muk, and Assault Vest Iron Hands, as well as directly threatening them with Earthquake.
