Great Tusk @ Pinsirite
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 HP / 132 Atk / 60 Def / 64 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bulk Up
- Body Slam
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
Maybe elephants really can take to the sky? With Pinsirite, Great Tusk is a dangerous setup sweeper and solid entry hazard remover with a fantastic type combination and great neutral coverage. Bulk Up lets it set up in the face of physical attackers like Arceus to quickly turn into a late-game threat. Aerilate Body Slam is a powerful STAB move that also threatens Ground-immune foes like Latiasite Galarian Slowking and Dragonite, while Earthquake threatens Flying-resistant foes like grounded Garganacl and Altarianite Regieleki. Rapid Spin increases its sweeping potential and allows it to threaten Red Orb Thundurus and Landorus. The given EV spread allows Great Tusk dodge a 3HKO from Regieleki's Extreme Speed, and 64 Speed EVs allow Great Tusk to outspeed Manectite Sandy Shocks after a Rapid Spin. Great Tusk falters completely against Zapdos and Pinsirite Garganacl, which are unbothered by its STAB coverage, so teammates that threaten these counters like Heracronite Baxcalibur and Lucarionite Walking Wake are excellent. After Mega Evolving, Great Tusk has a Stealth Rock neutrality, meaning it can be worn down over the course of the game; as such, Sablenite teammates like Slowbro and Corviknight are highly appreciated to keep Stealth Rock off the field.
