BSS Mimikyu Reg G Sets [1/1 QC][1/1 GP]

[SET]
Do Not Touch! (Rocky Helmet + Curse) (Mimikyu) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 228 HP / 252 Atk / 20 Def / 4 SpD / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
Tera Type: Stellar / Ghost
- Curse
- Play Rough
- Shadow Sneak
- Endure / Thunder Wave / Protect

[SET COMMENTS]

* By combining Disguise with Rocky Helmet and Curse, Mimikyu can quickly overwhelm physical attackers like Koraidon and Zacian-C with enormous passive damage.

* **Endure versus Protect**: Endure not only stalls turns for additional Curse damage but also allows physical attackers to make contact and take additional Rocky Helmet damage. It also has an advantage over Protect in that it isn't bypassed by the Urshifu formes, making it particularly dangerous to Urshifu-R that lack Punching Glove. On the other hand, Protect can block pivoting moves that would otherwise reset Curse, and it's generally better at stalling out effects such as Terrains and Trick Room.

* **Thunder Wave**: Thunder Wave is a good fallback that can permanently cripple targets, especially those that don't fear Rocky Helmet.

Tera Types
========

* **Tera Dependency - Low**: Mimikyu already has the tools it needs to perform its role without Terastallization. On the rare occasion that Terastallization is used, keep in mind that any Tera type that sheds Mimikyu's Ghost typing will remove Curse's damaging effect.

* **Stellar**: Tera Stellar provides a good one-time boost on the rare occasions it's needed while maintaining Mimikyu's original typing.

* **Ghost**: Tera Ghost keeps Mimikyu's most important typing for Curse while powering up Shadow Sneak.

* **Ground**: Tera Ground, particularly when it's used late-game, can cause big issues for Choice item Miraidon.

* **Normal**: Tera Normal's Ghost-type immunity is great for gaining extra turns against Calyrex-S's Astral Barrage.

* **Water**: Tera Water allows Mimikyu to survive Tera Water Surging Strikes from Choice Band Urshifu-R, potentially forcing it to take even more Rocky Helmet chip damage. It is also strong against Koraidon's Flare Blitz.

* **Steel**: Tera Steel is a more niche option that makes it easier to cushion Zacian-C and rack up additional damage.

EV Spreads
========

* **Odd HP Number**: Though the situation rarely comes up, an odd HP number is desirable so that Mimikyu can use Curse twice from full health.

* **12 Speed EVs**: Because Mimikyu is only 1 base Speed point lower than Urshifu, it is not uncommon to redistribute some EVs from Attack into Speed to outspeed bulky Urshifu. 12 Speed EVs is the minimum needed, though further investment is recommended, since even bulky Urshifu formes will bump their Speed by a few points.

* **228 HP / 252 Atk / 20 Def / 4 SpD / 4 Spe with Adamant**: This EV spread survives Adamant Chien-Pao's Icicle Crash after Disguise has been broken. The HP investment is also optimized to reduce residual damage from the likes of Stealth Rock.

* **148 HP / 196 Atk / 164 Def with Adamant**: The extra physical bulk now allows Mimikyu to survive Adamant Chien-Pao's Icicle Crash after both Stealth Rock damage and a Disguise break. If Disguise is still active, it almost always survives against Adamant Punching Glove Urshifu-R's Tera Water Surging Strikes.

* **228 HP / 28 Atk / 252 Def with Impish**: Full physical bulk can help Mimikyu live a little longer against threats like Assault Vest Koraidon that lack Flare Blitz. The HP investment is optimized to reduce residual damage from sources like Stealth Rock. The leftover EVs are put into Attack.

[SET]
Trick Room Support (Mimikyu) @ Rocky Helmet / Mental Herb / Life Orb
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed / Brave Nature
Tera Type: Stellar / Normal / Water
IVs: 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Curse
- Shadow Sneak
- Play Rough / Will-O-Wisp

[SET COMMENTS]

* Thanks to Disguise, Mimikyu is a very consistent Trick Room setter.

* **Curse**: Curse is used as a way to sacrifice Mimikyu and safely bring in a Trick Room sweeper.

* **Will-O-Wisp**: Will-O-Wisp can cripple attackers that have already set up prior to deploying Trick Room. Disguise helps cover the fact that Mimikyu is using a slower Will-O-Wisp, but be wary of Surging Strikes from Urshifu-R.

Items
========

* **Rocky Helmet**: While dealing damage isn't this set's focus, Rocky Helmet is still useful for wearing down bulky physical attackers like Koraidon and Urshifu-R that might otherwise pose problems for common Trick Room sweepers.

* **Mental Herb**: Mental Herb foils Taunt usage meant to stop Mimikyu from setting Trick Room.

* **Life Orb**: Life Orb allows Mimikyu to function better as a secondary attacker, especially when the opponent is trying to stall out Trick Room.

* **Covert Cloak**: Covert Cloak is for targets that rely on flinching to stop Mimikyu, such as Icicle Crash Chien-Pao.

* **Ability Shield**: Ability Shield can stop Moongeist Beam Lunala and Mold Breaker Ogerpon-H from knocking out Mimikyu through Disguise.

Tera Types
========

* **Tera Dependency - Low**: Mimikyu usually wants to keep its original typing, both for maintaining Curse's Ghost-type effect and for the Scale Shot immunity versus Koraidon and Dragonite.

* **Stellar**: Tera Stellar keeps all the benefits of Mimikyu's superior typing while giving a little extra offensive power.

* **Normal**: Tera Normal's Ghost-type immunity helps Mimikyu control momentum against Calyrex-S.

* **Water**: Tera Water combined with Rocky Helmet can cause fits for the likes of Flare Blitz Koraidon and Surging Strikes Urshifu-R.

EV Spreads
========

* **0 Speed IV with a Relaxed or Brave Nature**: Mimikyu generally wants the slowest Speed possible for moving first in Trick Room. The main disadvantage to this Speed outside of Trick Room is not being able to outrun uninvested Dragonite. If Mimikyu is running standard uninvested Speed, use an Impish or Adamant nature instead.

* **228 HP EVs**: All spreads below optimize HP to take as little damage as possible from sources like Stealth Rock and Disguise breaks.

* **228 HP / 28 Atk / 252 Def with Relaxed**: Focusing on physical bulk makes it so that even Tera Water Choice Band Urshifu-R will struggle to OHKO Mimikyu. It also survives Adamant Scizor's Bullet Punch even after accounting for Stealth Rock damage and a Disguise break.

* **228 HP / 252 Atk / 28 Def with Brave**: This spread gives Mimikyu a much better offensive presence for when it's needed. Enough physical bulk is maintained to survive Adamant Chien-Pao's Icicle Crash after Disguise is broken.

Mim is diabolical, so glad it's not even more common.

Should you acknowledge trick? It's not all over the place, but more than wisp.

Impish and stuff for def wayow usage, maybe not worth having, but idk.

Trick is it’s own set already on the Dex. I already have an update pending for that.

I briefly mention Impish when talking about whether to run a 0 Speed IV or not.

Curse staller
as discussed in BSSCord, bright powder is a consideration here if something else like Dragonite or alomomola is holding the Rocky helmet, I think this could be added as a bullet point, also worth noting that substitute pairs well with bright powder in leu of endure

Trick room
ability shield is another item worth considering as it allows Mimikyu to set up trick room in front of mold breaker threats such as Ogerpon-H (and maybe Lunala moongeist beam I haven’t tested that interaction but I’d assume so).

That’s all I got, these are admittedly niche options but the name of the game with Mimikyu and these sets in particular is adaptability so I’d say they’re worth bringing up. QC APPROVED

Brightpowder Sub is covered by the Curse Stall set already on Dex. This set is markedly different in that it sacrifices durability/long-term stall potential for exerting extreme pressure on contact attackers. This set without Rocky Helmet would lose its main purpose.

Dusk Mane Sunsteel Beam goes through Disguise, so Moongeist should too. Ability Shield has been added to the Trick Room set.

Ready for GP Team

Ah I missed the general staller set on the dex, disregard the first point then!

Regarding the set name: the main issue I was running into was that (a) Rocky Helmet and Curse are both common at least one other set and (b) distinguishing it by naming it defensive/stall is kind of deceiving since Mimikyu is expecting to just sack itself.

That being said, I think I came up with a more concise alternative: Do Not Touch! Is that a suitable replacement?

Reconsidering the points above, I also changed the Trick Room description for Rocky Helmet to point out the distinction as well:
* **Rocky Helmet**: While dealing damage isn't this set's focus, Rocky Helmet is still useful for wearing down bulky physical attackers like Koraidon and Urshifu-R that might otherwise pose problems for common Trick Room sweepers.
I'll wait a little bit before marking this as "Done" just in case.

I think the set name should be fine. If you’re open to making references, PowerOfMemes suggested to change the name to "U Can't Touch This".

We discussed this on discord, but I think the set name is fine as long as some high-level descriptor of the set's key points (Rocky Helmet + Curse) is added to the name in keeping with the BSS Miraidon precedent here. That way, a new reader can actually understand what is happening in the set and the key attributes of the set.
