Mega Swampert is a great sweeper on rain teams thanks to its amazing Attack and Swift Swim, which can let it outspeed foes like Choice Scarf Tapu Lele in rain. Its immunity to Electric-type attacks is also greatly appreciated for rain teams, which commonly struggle against Electric-types like Raging Bolt and Tapu Koko. Flip Turn lets it switch out of checks like Ferrothorn, bulky Mega Scizor, and Slowbro while maintaining momentum. Ice Punch hits foes like Dragonite, Mega Latios, and Serperior. Stealth Rock lets Mega Swampert make use of forced switches against Pokemon like Garganacl. Superpower hits Ferrothorn and secures a OHKO on Kartana. Tera Water boosts the damage of Mega Swampert's Waterfall, which can let it gurantee 2HKO defensive Pokemon like Clefable. Rain setters like Pelipper are mandatory teammates for Mega Swampert, being able to boost its offensive pressure and slow pivot it in safely. Mega Swampert can be overwhelmed against Grass-types like Serperior, Rillaboom, and Kartana, which can make teammates like Tornadus-T and Zapdos appreciated, they can also switch into into Grass-type moves for Mega Swampert which helps deal with its massive weakness. Pokemon like Rotom-W, Alomomola, and Ferrothorn, can be a problem for Mega Swampert as they can wall it and stall its turns of rain, which makes Ferrothorn and Kartana valuable teammates. Other Swift Swim Pokemon like Barraskewda can also be good teammates, as they can significantly wear down their shared checks such as Rotom-W.
