[OVERVIEW]

Water
========

Mega Sharpedo has an amazing matchup against Psychic, one of the best types, and is able to act as a late-game sweeper thanks to Speed Boost before Mega Evolving. It also has great offensive stats and Strong Jaw after Mega Evolving. An unresisted dual STAB combination, coverage moves like Psychic Fangs and Ice Fang boosted by Strong Jaw, and exceptional offensive stats allow Mega Sharpedo to double as a wallbreaker. A good Speed tier after Mega Evolving lets it come in and revenge kill Pokemon like Swords Dance Garchomp without boosting its Speed. However, a mediocre defensive typing and below-average bulk prevent Mega Sharpedo from coming in on even weak attacks, limiting its opportunity to switch in. Being forced to run Protect has positives, like being able to scout, but is mostly outweighed by negatives, mainly not being able to run another coverage move. Mega Sharpedo having a crippling weakness to every type of status severely hinders its effectiveness as well. Mega Sharpedo is also mostly limited to late-game because after Mega Evolving, it doesn't have access to Speed Boost, which handicaps its cleaning potential.

Moves
========

Protect allows Sharpedo to gain Speed boosts against offensive teams more easily prior to Mega Evolving. Protect also lets Sharpedo scout against Choice-locked Pokemon. Strong Jaw-boosted Crunch is potentially Mega Sharpedo's strongest attack and comes with a nifty chance to drop the foe's Defense stat. Mega Sharpedo's secondary STAB move, Liquidation, retains Crunch's secondary effect but has a lower damage output due to it not being boosted by Strong Jaw. Psychic Fangs allows Mega Sharpedo to beat Poison-types, mainly Toxapex, that would otherwise wall it. It also has the niche of being able to take out other threatening Poison- and Fighting-types such as Mega Venusaur and Keldeo. Psychic Fangs breaks screens as well, effectively preventing Pokemon such as Klefki from fulfilling their niche.

Set Details
========

Sharpedonite allows Sharpedo to Mega Evolve. 252 Speed EVs allow Mega Sharpedo to be as fast as possible, and a Jolly nature lets it outpace Choice Scarf users like Victini at +1. 252 Attack EVs maximize Mega Sharpedo's damage output. Speed Boost increases Mega Sharpedo's cleaning potential against teams carrying revenge killers and improves its matchup against offensive teams but can only be used before Mega Evolving. Strong Jaw boosts Crunch and Psychic Fangs.

Usage Tips
========

If you know Sharpedo will be forced out by a Pokemon like Dragonite or Breloom, then it is wiser to not Mega Evolve so it can take advantage of Speed Boost later on. Keep Mega Sharpedo healthy by being wary of entry hazards and not switching it directly into attacks that are not Psychic-type. Don't worry about getting Speed boosts against bulky teams, as Sharpedo usually outpaces everything without boosting. Instead, capitalize on Mega Sharpedo's wallbreaking power by Mega Evolving early. Try to position Mega Sharpedo against Pokemon it forces out so as to take full advantage of Speed Boost. For example, position Mega Sharpedo against a Pokemon like Heatran or Choice Scarf Greninja locked into Dark Pulse to gain a free turn and use an attack as they switch out so Sharpedo can reliably use Protect the subsequent turn. Preserve Sharpedo for the late-game, as it is most effective when it hasn't wasted Speed Boost. Play carefully against types such as Psychic carrying Colbur Berry users like Slowbro and Mew, as Slowbro can cripple Mega Sharpedo with Grass Knot or Thunder Wave and Mew cripples it with Will-O-Wisp. Use Protect to scout against Choice-locked Pokemon such as Latios and Diggersby so you can take advantage of potential momentum. For example, capitalize on a Diggersby locked into Earthquake with Ground-immune Pokemon like Mantine and Gyarados. Play carefully against status users like Chansey, as they hinder Mega Sharpedo's sweeping capabilities.

Team Options
========

Azumarill is capable of Perish trapping problematic Pokemon like Skarmory and Toxapex thanks to Whirlpool + Perish Song. Tectonic Rage Greninja is capable of taking out Alolan Muk, something Mega Sharpedo struggles with, and chips at Mega Venusaur with Extrasensory. Choice Scarf Greninja can KO Pokemon like Choice Scarf Latios and Tapu Bulu that revenge kill Mega Sharpedo and set up Spikes to threaten counters like Porygon2. Mega Sharpedo complements Greninja in return by allowing it to drop a potential Dark-type STAB move in favor of other coverage. Toxapex can reliably switch into Pokemon like Porygon2 and Skarmory that wall Mega Sharpedo and take advantage of their passive nature by setting up Toxic Spikes, allowing Mega Sharpedo to more easily clean. Mantine is a great teammate, as it can use Defog to remove annoying entry hazards like Toxic Spikes and Stealth Rock, which hinder Mega Sharpedo's cleaning potential. Stealth Rock users like Swampert and Empoleon can help chip at Pokemon like Skarmory and Tapu Bulu so Mega Sharpedo can KO them. Gyarados is capable of taking out Mega Venusaur and Skarmory, allowing Mega Sharpedo to more easily sweep. Pivots like Rotom-W and Lanturn can bring Sharpedo in freely thanks to a slow Volt Switch, and the latter can heal any detrimental status that Sharpedo might have. Suicune can PP stall Mega Venusaur's Giga Drain so later on in the game Mega Sharpedo can sweep more freely. Choice Specs Keldeo can form a wallbreaking core with Mega Sharpedo, taking out problematic Pokemon like Porygon2 for Mega Sharpedo.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
=============

Water
--------

Ice Fang is most notably applicable in the Dragon matchup, as it allows Mega Sharpedo to more easily pressure Dragon-types such as Garchomp and Hydreigon. Hydro Pump allows Mega Sharpedo to more easily pressure Skarmory + Zapdos cores without having to rely on getting Defense drops against Skarmory. It also lets Mega Sharpedo reliably 2HKO physically defensive Hippowdon. If you decide to utilize this option, make sure to dump the last 4 EVs into Special Attack and change Sharpedo's nature to Naive. Substitute gives Mega Sharpedo an edge against Psychic-type teams, giving Mega Sharpedo a reliable way of beating Focus Sash + Counter Alakazam as well as making it extremely hard to revenge kill after a couple of Speed boosts. It also improves Mega Sharpedo's matchup against offense, as if you can position it in order to freely get a Substitute up, it becomes very hard to beat. However, this forces Mega Sharpedo to drop a coverage move, preventing it from being as useful in other matchups. An Adamant nature lets Mega Sharpedo act as more of a wallbreaker and immediately OHKO Pokemon such as Xurkitree. However, running Adamant trades its ability to outpace some Choice Scarf users like Nihilego and Victini at +1.

Checks and Counters
===================

Water
--------

**Faster Revenge Killers**: Extremely quick Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Latios and Terrakion can outpace and revenge kill even +1 Mega Sharpedo.

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types like Clefable threaten Mega Sharpedo with their STAB moves and tank all of Mega Sharpedo's attacks with ease.

**Fighting-types**: Cobalion can stomach a hit from Mega Sharpedo and KO in return or cripple it with Thunder Wave.

**Grass-types**: Grass-types like Mega Venusaur and Tapu Bulu tank a hit from Mega Sharpedo and retaliate with their super effective Grass-type STAB attacks.

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Physically bulky Pokemon like Skarmory and Clefable wall Mega Sharpedo unless it runs a niche option like Hydro Pump for the former or is able to get multiple Defense drops with Crunch.

**Priority**: Priority attacks from Pokemon such as Breloom and Dragonite easily pick off Mega Sharpedo after slight chip damage.

**Status**: Every status is detrimental to Mega Sharpedo. Paralysis ruins its chance to sweep quick offensive teams, burn halves its Attack stat, preventing it from wallbreaking anything, and any type of poison chips it down quickly.

Overview:
- Mention the fact that it has to run protect in order to work well
- Bring up it's insanely huge weakness to status
- Emphasize that it's stats allow it be such a phenomenal sweeper
- Talk about how it's use is very limited to the late-game
- Clarify that it's good move pool isn't uniquely special (wording makes it confusing)

Set Details:
- A small explanation of strong jaw should be repeated

Usage Tips:
- Don't bring up Other Options like Sub, but you can keep the Adamant point
- preserving for late-game
- don't switch it in on attacks, unless there is an obvious Psychic-Type attack predicted
- don't switch in too much on hazards
- can use Protect to scout
- beware of potential Colbur berry users on teams with very little answers to Dark-Type Pokemon

Team Options:
- Azumarill can trap Skarmory and ?
- can mention how Sharpedo allows Greninja to run another coverage move because it doesn't need Dark-Type STAB anymore

Checks and Counters:
- I don't think Keldeo is a good example, the roll is by far in Mega Sharpedo's favour.
- Sash Counter Zam because it doesn't need to rely on using counter, as it can take it out with Focus Blast

* Mega Sharpedo’s niche is carved by its ability to have an amazing matchup against one of the best types, Psychic, and being able to act as a late game sweeper thanks to Speed Boost before Mega Evolving, and great offensive stats and Strong Jaw after Mega Evolving.
* Unresisted dual STAB in conjunction with Strong Jaw and exceptional offensive stats allows Mega Sharpedo to double as a wallbreaker.
* Usable special attack and a decent movepool on both sides of the spectrum lets Mega Sharpedo bypass some of its counters. Remove this point, MSharp will only very rarely run Hydro Pump, otherwise its SpA is irrelevant - not worth talking about in the overview.
* However, mediocre defensive typing and bulk prevents Mega Sharpedo from coming in against even weak attacks, limiting its opportunity.
* Being forced to run Protect and having a crippling weakness to every type of status hinders its effectiveness. Make these two separate statements, mention the benefits/hindrance of being forced to run protect specifically.
* Mega Sharpedo is also limited to the late-game because after Mega Evolving it doesn't have access to Speed Boost which handicaps its cleaning potential.
* Talk about its Speed tier.
* Mention its physical movepool in conjunction with its ability (psy fang, ice fang)

Moves

* Protect allows Sharpedo to gain speed boosts against offensive teams more easily. Specifically mention Speed boosting before mega evolving, also mention scouting attacks from choice-locked pokemon.
* Crunch is Mega Sharpedo's strongest STAB attack that comes with a nifty chance to drop the foe's defense stat.
* Mega Sharpedo's secondary STAB, Liquidation, retains Crunch's secondary effect but has a slightly lower damage output due to not being boosted by Strong Jaw. Its a bit more than slightly lower damage output, the boost from Strong Jaw is huge.
* Psychic Fangs allows Mega Sharpedo to beat Poison-types, mainly Toxapex, that would otherwise beat wall it. It also has the niche of being able to take out threatening Poison-types such as Mega Venusaur after considerable chip damage. Psychic Fangs also lets Mega Sharpedo beat Fighting-types such as Keldeo. It also has the secondary effect of breaking screens, effectively preventing Pokemon such as Klefki from fulfilling their niche.

* Speed Boost increases Mega Sharpedo’s cleaning potential against teams carrying revenge killers and improves its matchup against offensive teams.
* Strong Jaw lets Mega Sharpedo boost attacks such as Crunch and Psychic Fangs.

Usage Tips
========

* If you know you’ll be forced out by a Pokemon like Dragonite or Breloom then don’t Mega Evolve, as it’s wiser to to stay in regular forme so you can take advantage of Speed Boost later on.
* Beware of hazards and don't switch Sharpedo in on even weak attacks, unless they are definitely Psychic attacks, as these wear it down extremely quickly.
* Don’t worry about getting speed boosts against bulky teams. Instead, capitalize on Mega Sharpedo’s wallbreaking power by Mega Evolving.
* Try to position Mega Sharpedo against Pokemon it forces so as to take full advantage of Speed Boost. For example, position Mega Sharpedo against a Pokemon like Heatran or Choice Scarf Greninja locked into Dark Pulse to gain a free turn and use an attack as they switch out so you can reliably Protect the subsequent turn.
* Preserve Sharpedo for the late-game, as it is most effective then. This is super vague, can you expand on it?
* Play carefully against types such as Psychic carrying Colbur Berry users like Slowbro, as Slowbro in particular can cripple Mega Sharpedo with Grass Knot or Thunder Wave if running Colbur Berry. Add another example of a Colbur Pokemon.
* Use Protect to scout Choice-locked Pokemon such as Latios and Diggersby. Expand on this, what's the benefit of scouting Choice-locked Pokemon? (What plays could you make after determining what move they're locked into)
* In the same way, when running an Adamant nature, try to rack up as many speed boosts as possible before Mega Evolving to prevent being revenge killed by Choice Scarf users such as Nihilego.
* Being weary of status like Paralyze and Burn

Team Options

* Azumarill is capable of Perish Trapping problematic Pokemon like Skarmory and Toxapex. I'd specify what perish trap is.
* Tectonic Rage Greninja is capable of taking out Alolan Muk, something Mega Sharpedo struggles with, and chips Mega Venusaur with Extrasensory. Choice Scarf Greninja can KO Pokemon like Choice Scarf Latios and Tapu Bulu that revenge KO Mega Sharpedo and set up Spikes to threaten counters like Porygon2. Mega Sharpedo complements Greninja in return by allowing it to drop potential Dark-type STAB in favor for other coverage.

* Substitute gives Mega Sharpedo an edge against Psychic-type teams, as Substitute gives Mega Sharpedo a reliable way of beating Sash Counter Alakazam as well as making it extremely hard to revenge KO after a couple of speed boosts. It also improves Mega Sharpedo's matchup against offense, as if you can position it in order to freely get a Substitute up, it becomes very hard to beat. Talk about what move you're dropping for substitute and how that affects MSharp negatively.
* Adamant Nature lets Mega Sharpedo act as more of a wallbreaker. However, running Adamant trades its ability to outpace some Choice Scarf users like Nihilego, Victini, and - at +1. And -? Mention some KOs that Adamant might get that Jolly doesn't - you need to specify a reason why you'd want to trade off outspeeding some of the most common +1 Speed tiers in the meta besides generally more power.

**Alakazam**: Alakazam is a huge threat to Mega Sharpedo, as unless it has a Substitute set up before Alakazam comes in it loses to Focus Blast. Remove this. It doesn't make sense to include Alakazam specifically because Alakazam does the same exact thing against nearly every physical attacker and we aren't going to put Alakazam in every physical attacker's analysis.

**Faster Revenge Killers**: Extremely quick Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Latios and Terrakion can outpace out and revenge kill +1 Mega Sharpedo.

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types like Clefable threaten Mega Sharpedo with their Fairy-type STAB.

**Fighting-types**: Cobalion can stomach a hit from Mega Sharpedo and KO in return or cripple it with Thunder Wave, respectively.

**Grass-types**: Grass-types like Mega Venusaur and Tapu Bulu tank a hit from Mega Sharpedo and retaliate with their super effecive Grass-types STAB.

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Physically bulky Pokemon like Skarmory wall Mega Sharpedo unless it runs a niche option like Hydro Pump or is able to get multiple defense drops with Crunch. Add another example, consider removing the clarifying statement of being able to beat with Hydro Pump or defense drops.

* Turn this into one sentence.

Speed Boost increases Mega Sharpedo’s cleaning potential against teams carrying revenge killers and improves its matchup against offensive teams.
* Should write this in a way so that the reader understands that Speed Boost is the only pre-Mega ability to use.

Usage Tips
========

Preserve Sharpedo for the late-game, as it is most effective then since it hasn't wasted Speed Boost.
* You need to explain why you're preserving Sharpedo for the late-game, i.e. it's an excellent cleaner once the opposing team has been chipped down thanks to its insane power and high speed.

Play carefully against types such as Psychic carrying Colbur Berry users like Slowbro, as Slowbro in particular can cripple Mega Sharpedo with Grass Knot or Thunder Wave if running Colbur Berry.
Colbur Berry Jirachi with Thunder Wave cripples it as well.
* Use Stallbreaker Mew as a second example, I've never seen a Colbur Berry Jirachi. Turn this into one sentence as well.

Use Protect to scout Choice-locked Pokemon such as Latios and Diggersby. Being able to scout these Pokemon is super important as it gives you the opportunity to play with all the momentum on your side.
* This point is basically telling the reader that Protect is important without explaining why. You say it's to play with momentum, but what does this mean in a real-game scenario. How can using Protect on a Choice-locked Pokemon have an impact in a game? Example: Diggersby is locked into Earthquake and your team has a Gyarados/Mantine.

Protect allows Sharpedo to gain Speed boosts against offensive teams more easily prior to Mega Evolving. Protect also lets Sharpedo scout against Choice-locked Pokemon. Strong Jaw-(AH)boosted Crunch is Mega Sharpedo's strongest STAB attack (technically Hydro Pump is its strongest STAB attack) and comes with a nifty chance to drop the foe's Defense stat.

For example, position Mega Sharpedo against a Pokemon like Heatran or Choice Scarf Greninja locked into Dark Pulse to gain a free turn and use an attack as they switch out so Sharpedo can reliably use Protect the subsequent turn. Preserve Sharpedo for the late-game, as it is most effective then when it hasn't wasted Speed Boost. Play carefully against types such as Psychic carrying Colbur Berry users like Slowbro and Mew, as Slowbro can cripple Mega Sharpedo with Grass Knot or Thunder Wave and Mew cripples it with Will-O-Wisp. Use Protect to scout against Choice-locked Pokemon such as Latios and Diggersby so that you can take advantage of potential momentum. For example, capitalize on a Diggersby locked into Earthquake with Ground-immune Pokemon like Mantine and Gyarados. Play carefully against status users like Chansey, as they hinder Mega Sharpedo's sweeping capabilities.

Stealth Rock users like Swampert and Empoleon can help chip at Pokemon like Skarmory and Tapu Bulu so that Mega Sharpedo can KO them. Gyarados is capable of taking out Mega Venusaur and Skarmory, allowing Mega Sharpedo to more easily sweep. Pivots like Rotom-W and Lanturn can bring Sharpedo in freely thanks to a slow Volt Switch,(AC) and the latter can heal any detrimental status that Sharpedo might have. Suicune can PP stall Mega Venusaur's Giga Drain so that later on in the game Mega Sharpedo can sweep more freely. Choice Specs Keldeo can form a wallbreaking core with Mega Sharpedo, taking out problematic Pokemon like Porygon2 for Mega Sharpedo.

If you decide to utilize this option, make sure to dump the last 4 EVs into Special Attack and change the Sharpedo's nature to Naive. Substitute gives Mega Sharpedo an edge against Psychic-type teams, as Substitute gives giving Mega Sharpedo a reliable way of beating Focus Sash + Counter Alakazam as well as making it extremely hard to revenge kill after a couple of Speed boosts. It also improves Mega Sharpedo's matchup against offense, as if you can position it in order to freely get a Substitute up, it becomes very hard to beat. However, this forces Mega Sharpedo to drop a coverage move, preventing it from being as useful in other matchups. An Adamant nature lets Mega Sharpedo act as more of a wallbreaker and lets it immediately OHKO Pokemon such as Xurkitree. However, running Adamant trades its ability to outpace some Choice Scarf users like Nihilego and Victini at +1.

**Faster Revenge Killers**: Extremely quick Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Latios and Terrakion can outpace and revenge kill even +1 Mega Sharpedo.

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types like Clefable threaten Mega Sharpedo with their Fairy-type STAB moves and tank all of Mega Sharpedo's attacks with ease.

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Physically bulky Pokemon like Skarmory and Clefable wall Mega Sharpedo unless it runs a niche option like Hydro Pump for the former wall or is able to get multiple Defense drops with Crunch.
