Introduction:

Hi Smogon! This is a Hyper Offense team I built around Mega Scizor. I'm not the best team builder, so I would love suggestions and constructive criticism. On a new account, I played about 15-20 games and lost 2, getting to the mid 1300's on the ladder. I didn't start losing games at that point, I just decided to stop playing for a while and post this.
The Team:

scizor-mega.gif

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Atk / 16 Def / 200 SpD
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn

Scizor is the Pokemon I wanted to build my team around. In my opinion, bulky Swords Dance is the best set for Mega-Scizor. It allows you to come in late game, set up, Roost off damage, spam Bullet Punch, and repeat. It also has U-turn for some initiative early game. Scizor should only set up after Mons like Heatran have been taken care of.

garchomp-f.gif

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 248 HP / 164 Def / 76 SpD / 20 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Dragon Tail
- Earthquake
- Endure

Tank Chomp is hugely important to this team. I can come into Talonflame, then set up Stealth Rocks on the switch. If they are already up, I can click Dragon Tail and get some more damage from entry hazards. Also STAB EQ is pretty much mandatory. Endure is a funny move that lets me get off extra damage on Mons like Talonflame and Azumarill.

thundurus.gif

Thundurus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast

Thundurus is the standard Prankster attacking set. It carries T-Wave to help stop scarfed Pokemon and otherwise fast Mons. Thunderbolt and HP Ice forms a BoltBeam combo for great coverage. Focus Blast helps to severely weaken Ferrothorn, Heatran, and Tyranitar. At the bottom of this RMT, I suggest that Grass Knot might be more useful than Focus Blast.

weavile.gif

Weavile @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pursuit
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash

Weavile is a fantastic Pokemon to use in this meta. There are virtually no drawbacks. It outspeeds and kills the Latis and Starmie and is in general a great Pursuit trapper. Knock Off is a very spammable move and is STAB. Ice Shard beats a weakened Garchomp and Landorus-T, as well as picks off other weakened Pokemon.
talonflame.gif

Talonflame @ Liechi Berry
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Natural Gift

Talonflame has proved to be a crucial member of my team. It can set up a Swords Dance, then spam Brave Bird. Flare Blitz is also a necessity as it OHKOs Ferrothorn and opposing Scizor. Natural Gift is a little odd, but my team is otherwise completely walled by Quagsire. The damage calc is shown below. Although it isn't quite the damage I need, a Brave Bird on the switch-in does about 30%, and with entry hazards there is a good chance to kill. It is also useful for a weakened Rotom-W.

252 Atk Liechi Berry Talonflame Natural Gift (100 BP Grass) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Unaware Quagsire: 256-304 (64.9 - 77.1%)

starmie.gif

Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock
- Rapid Spin

I absolutely needed a spinner/defogger to keep rocks off the field for Talonflame. A spinner was preferable as keeping Stealth Rocks up on my opponent is key (bulky Scizor needs some preliminary damage to take out several key threats). Starmie also delivers some offensive presence, as a STAB hydro pump hurts a lot of things. Ice Beam and Psyshock are fantastic moves in general that round out the moveset.

My Thoughts:
  • The team is extremely weak to fast electric types. Mega Manectric almost straight up sweeps me.
  • My team is weak to Tornadus-T. I have almost no way of beating it if it has Heat Wave, unless I already have set up an SD with Scizor. Garchomp doesn't beat it because Tornadus-T heals up more than it loses to Rocky Helmet + Rough Skin on the U-Turn. Scarf Lando-T is an option to beat fast Electrics and Tornadus, but then I miss out on all the extra damage of Rocky Helmet + Rough Skin, and I don't get up rocks.
  • I could potentially put Grass Knot on Thundurus over Focus Blast (OHKO on Quagsire), but then I miss out on hurting Tyranitar and Ferrothorn. Still, I think that might be better for the team, then run Sharp Beak or Leftovers Talonflame with Roost or U-Turn.
Thanks once again for any comments and suggestions!

Hey bud, nice team you got there.

As you mentioned, the team is quite weak to fast electric types and they indeed do pose a huge threat to your team.

My first change would be Assault Vest Raikou over Thundurus. This gives you a nice check to M-Manectric, Thundurus and Raikou- all of which were problematic for your team to switch into. This allows you to keep your BoltBeam coverage while also being more than a reliable check to the aforementioned pokemon, while also forming a nice VoltTurn Core with M-Scizor. This change also allows you to potentially Pursuit trap the Lati twins by Volt switching into Weavile and it's also worth mentioning that it gives pokemon like Talonflame and Starmie the opportunity to come in on Raikou's checks, M-Venusaur and Heatran to name a few, by Volt Switching on the incoming switch in.

That's all I have, since you lost Fighting coverage by switching out Thundurus I'd suggest trying out Low Kick on Weavile. You can switch it out for whatever you found least useful

Hope i helped

Thanks a lot for the help! Raikou definitely helps this team by creating the VoltTurn core. I also added Low Kick to Weavile and got rid of Icicle Crash. Lastly, I added Grass Knot to Starmie over Psyshock because Talonflame beats M-Venu anyway.

HP Graas over Grass Knot sounds like an interesting suggestion as you're able to lure Rotom-W, something you struggle to break, on the switch. Also, I'd advise Sharp Beak and Roost instead of Natural Gift now that you have grass coverage on Starmie.

252 SpA Life Orb Starmie Hidden Power Grass vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-W: 135-161 (44.5 - 53.1%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Worthy of a try imo :)

Your team also has trouble with scarfed heatran as scizor dies to lava plume talonflame dies to ancient power and starmie cant switch in because some scarfed heatrans run dark pulse(mine does ) although you have garchomp to switch in and thundurus to cripple it, I would suggest giving weavile focus sash so it can kill with low kick.
But thats just my oppinion and I might get hate for this as i am not TOO experienced but yeah...
