ORAS OU Mega Scizor Bulky Offense {EasySweepScizor}

This team is built around a bulky variant of Mega Scizor (the team that I call EasyScizorSweep) and is designed to put it into a position to sweep in the late game by its supporting cast. The team features a Fairy-Dragon-Steel Core as well as the greatest pokemon of all time, Mamoswine.

(This is my first ever RMT post and any feedback I can get would be greatly appreciated.)

Clamps (Scizor) @ Scizorite

Ability: Technician

EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD

Adamant Nature

- Swords Dance

- Roost

- Bullet Punch

- Knock Off

Mega Scizor is my favorite mega in the current OU metagame as is can tank hits well, recover health relaibily, and dish out hard hitting priority bullet punch in the process. Mega Scizor is the primary sweeper and it performs flawlessly in that role The spread is simple as it allows Mega Scizor to maximize attack while maintaining a bulky feel. Swords Dance is used to rapidly increase your attack power, roost to stay on the field longer, Bullet punch for a STAB Technician boosted priority move that is spammed late game, and knock off used to punish switch ins like the lati twins and rotom forms.

Latios.png

Iberia (Latios) (M) @ Life Orb

Ability: Levitate

EVs: 26 Atk / 232 SpA / 252 Spe

Hasty Nature

- Draco Meteor

- Psyshock

- Earthquake

- Defog

I decided to go Latios next for 3 reasons. One, It provided a fire resist and got me one step closer to a Steel Dragon Fairy Core which is what I was shooting for. Two, It is the most reliable defogger in the game with it’s great speed stat which was needed for the team. Three, It provides me with easy answers to two of Mega Scizor biggest counters in heatran which gets ohkod by Earthquake after rocks with that investment and Rotom-W which gets wrecked by a draco meteor. Latios also has a stab psyshock to be used on pokemon like chansey, Conkeldurr and Mega Venusaur. Latios was one of my favoraite team members when using this team as it gave me speed which was lacking at this point.

Azumarill.png

Frenship (Azumarill) @ Assault Vest

Ability: Huge Power

EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD

Adamant Nature

- Aqua Jet

- Waterfall

- Play Rough

- Superpower

Azumarill completes the Fairy Dragon Steel core which I had in mind while also being able to put on more offensive pressure at the same time. It resist Fire once again from scizor as well as dark, ice as well as being immune to being immune to dragon type attacks for latios. The set is the standard AV Azumarill set which utilizes it’s natural bulk with an AV which allows it to switch into plenty of Special attacks and Immediately threaten your opponent offensively. Azumarill is my backup sweeper which used about 10% of the time in that role. The moveset is very basic but it gets the job done. Aqua Jet for STAB Priority great for revenge killing, Waterfall and Play Rough as a powerful STAB attacks, and Superpower Primarily so you do not get walled by ferrothorn.

mamoswine on 2.png

Hamoswine (Mamoswine) @ Focus Sash

Ability: Thick Fat

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Jolly Nature

- Icicle Spear

- Ice Shard

- Earthquake

- Stealth Rock

Mamoswine was the obvious choice for me to fit on the team next. Mamo was the designated lead and the only pokemon on my team that could set up rocks which is crucial to get a Mega Scizor Sweep. This is my favorite set for mamo as it can counter the most common leads in OU and give you momentum early by breaking Dragonite’s Mulitscale as well as sashes from Breloom and Garchomp which are other common leads with icicle spear. Earthquake is the best move in the game and anywhere you can fit it on a team the better as it can OHKO Heatran. Mamoswine is also the best counter to Landorus in the game. Icicle Spear in combination with Ice shard make it very difficult for the two genies. Offensively Ice type is one of the best in the current meta and having a stab version of it is critical.

Magnezone.png

Fletcher (Magnezone) @ Choice Scarf

Ability: Magnet Pull

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Timid Nature

- Hidden Power [Fire]

- Volt Switch

- Flash Cannon

- Thunderbolt

The more I looked at my team the more I realized how much of a problem ferrothorn and opposing scizors were. Magnezone stops those steel types in their tracks by trapping them and proceeding to kill them with HP Fire (can also trap and kill skarmory which is a huge counter to mega scizor.) This is the only fire type move so it is crucial to have Magnezone around as long as the opposing ferrothorn and scizor are. Scarfed magnezone allows me to get off a fast volt switch and gain momentum. Thunderbolt it there for powerful stab and to kill non scarfed keldeo. Flash cannon provides another stab steel type move which allows me utilize my coverage on pokemon like sylveon. Magnezone was my go to pokemon to switch into rotom as it allows me to eat up a will o wisp which is the main weakness of this team.

(Nickname Inspired by Retired Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher because you would have to get out of his zone if you wanted to be alive)

Landot.png

Mandorous (Landorus-Therian) (M) @ Choice Scarf

Ability: Intimidate

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Jolly Nature

- Earthquake

- Rock Slide

- Superpower

- U-turn

Landorus-Therian is one of the most used pokemon in OU for a reason, IT IS CRAZY GOOD! Intimidate is a great ability which makes it an easy switch into charizard x. The scarfed variant outspeeds a lot of the current meta and allows you to get off a fast u turn or get off loads of damage at the same time. Landorus-Therian is the glue to the team. It is another great late game sweeper and is the main switch for Talonflame and allows me to ohko it with rock slide. It also allows me to get off good chunks of damage to pokemon that do not resist it. EQ is the best stab move lando-t gets but that is all it needs because it is the best move in the game. Rock slide for flying types, superpower for pokemon like ferrothorn, and u turn for initiative. If i'm not leading with mamo then I am most likely leading with my landorus.

(Nickname Provided by some random lando I faced on showdown)

Weakness of team:

From what I have seen so far my team is weak to the following things.

-Burn, I have 4 physical attackers that rely on not being crippled by burn as well as latios who does not appreciate the residual damage of burn.

-Azumarill, I have found it hard to find reliable ways to switch into azumarill.

-Mega Sableye, As I said before burn really cripples my team which is what Mega S is known for. If it sets up 1-2 Calm Minds and can burn your physical Attackers you might as well forfeit because it will be very difficult to win.

This is one my favorite teams that I have ever built and anything I can do to improve it would be fantastic, I strongly encourage you to leave any kind of feedback as this was my first ever RMT post. Please let me know how you do with the team as well! Thank you for reading and have fun with your Mega Scizor sweeps!

Hey there, thats a solid team you got there, i really like that kind of drag/fairy mag which is pretty hot to face most of the time, but i noticed some weakness and i'll give you some tips to cover it as much as possible.
  • First i notice a pretty big weakness to comon duo such as Tyranitar/Bisharp + zard y, and latios is your only one reliable check for those which get trapped by pursuit. Plus zard can get many free switch in your team (Scizor/Landorus locked/Magnezone locked/Mamoswine and even azumarill since aquajet does nothing and it can hard hit you with solarbeam even if Assvelt) 252+ SpA Mega Charizard Y Solar Beam vs. 240 HP / 16 SpD Assault Vest Azumarill: 262-310 (65.3 - 77.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO. Thats more than enough to mention that azumarill is clearly not a check here. Thats why i'd suggest Bulky Garchomp instead of Mamoswine, Garchomp is useful for your team since he assure you another reliable check against zard y and also make you safer against your bisharp weakness, as you can see bisharp can set up pretty easily on scizor since you got any move to hit it and sweep with sucker punch + iron head, while with garchomp you can directly come against it and do many damages with rocky helmet + rough skin + LO to kill it easily. Plus you can choose to run toxic that can help you to lure rotom-W/Landorus-T for the scizor sweep.
  • I'd change Landorus-T's rock move to Stone Edge > Rock Slide. Rock Slide isn't worth using on this scenario, since the accuracy difference between the move and Stone Edge is just 10, while Stone Edge is stronger and gets definite kills instead of, for example, having to bank on a flinch on a lot of Pokémon. Plus i suggest you to use that spread on Landorus-T ==> EVs: 24 HP / 252 Atk / 232 Spe Jolly Nature, with that spread you will be able to outspeed Excadrill scarf jolly which can give you enough evs for a little bulk (which is always helpful) and it also increase your chance of not getting faster if you're using uturn against another scarf landorus like this you will keep momentum which is pretty good for your team since you're also using magnezone.
I hope I Helped :D

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 164 Def / 92 Spe
Impish Nature
- Dragon Tail/Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Toxic/Fire blast
- Stealth Rock
