Hello Smogon! It's Psychodude11 and I'm here to post a UU team. There are multiple Megas in this tier and I have been playing with all the Megas and Mega Pidgeot seemed pretty good. Now, on to the team:
Pidgeot @ Pidgeotite
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hurricane
- Roost
- Substitute
- Work Up
Starting things off, Mega Pidgeot was chosen because of its strong Spammable STAB move. It's role is to Punch holes in opposing teams or to Clean up late game. Hurricane is for a Strong STAB with a 30% confusion rate making it an amazing move. Roost is there to recover damage from previous attacks or from Stealth Rocks and Substitutes. Substitute blocks Mega Pidgeot from status while allowing it to set up with Work Up. Work Up makes Pidgeot hit as hard as it would holding Choice Specs after only one usage. "252 Special Attack EVs give Mega Pidgeot as much wallbreaking power as possible, creating many 2HKO opportunities. 252 Speed EVs and a Timid nature let Mega Pidgeot outspeed all base 120 Speed Pokemon, including huge threats such as Alakazam."
Chandelure @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Pain Split
- Flamethrower
- Shadow Ball
I chose Chandelure because it is an amazing Special Attacker. It's role is to be a set-up sweeper and a Wallbreaker. I put Substitute so it is immune to status and so Pain Split can start doing damage immediately. Flamethrower is for STAB and the chance of burning once in a blue moon. Shadow Ball is for STAB and the chance to lower Special Defense. "252 Special Attack EVs ensure that Chandelure can wallbreak as easily as possible, even taking care of Blissey at +6. 252 Speed EVs allow Chandelure to outspeed most slower wallbreakers, such as Machamp, Nidoqueen, and Mega Blastoise, as well as any neutral base 90 Speed Pokemon. The 4 Special Defense EVs are used for the rare-yet-effective Download Porygon-Z, which can interrupt a sweep with Dark Pulse."
I'm Fluffy (Snorlax) @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 144 HP / 188 Def / 176 SpD
Calm Nature
- Body Slam
- Curse
- Rest
- Earthquake
Snorlax was my favorite Pokémon since 1st Gen. I chose Snorlax because I originally had Haxorus which wasn't doing well with its relatively His role is to eat attacks and deal some big damage. Body Slam is for STAB and the 30% chance to Paralyze. Curse is to make Snorlax even fatter by increasing its Defense and Attack by lowering it's Speed. Rest allows Snorlax to recover its health so it can attack some more. Earthquake gives Snorlax coverage against Ghost types doing at least neutral damage, super effective in the case of Chandelure. "Curselax's 144 HP / 188 Def EV investment is meant to turn it into a sponge against physical hits after a Curse, as well as let it survive a High Jump Kick from Choice Scarf Mienshao at +2. The remaining 176 Special Defense EVs and a Careful nature allow Curselax to also survive a 2HKO from Mega Blastoise's Aura Sphere. The mixed defensive spread is designed to take on countless other threats as well, including Raikou, Nidoqueen, and Nidoking. Leftovers is used for passive recovery and longevity. Thick Fat is used to weaken Fire- and Ice-type attacks by 50%, giving Snorlax two added resistances."
Empoleon @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Defog
- Scald
- Roar
Shoutout to King UU for suggesting Empoleon instead of Mienshao. Empoleon's role is to be a setter and a Defogger. Stealth Rocks are to be troublesome to some Pokémon, doing chip damage whenever they decide to switch in. Defog is to get rid of hazards before you set Stealth Rocks. Scald is so Empoleon has a STAB and so Empoleon isn't taunt bait. Roar acts as a pseudo-haze. "The given EV spread allows Empoleon to make the best of its excellent Special Defense, which is further bolstered by a Calm nature. Leftovers gives Empoleon some much-needed passive recovery."
Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spore
- Foul Play
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
Another poke change suggested by King UU. His role is to be a versatile utility. Spore is to make 1 of the opponents Pokémon useless. Foul Play is to hurt any
Physical Attackers or just Ghost Types. Giga Drain is a reliable STAB with a added bonus of recovery. Sludge Bomb is for STAB and to hit Fairies hard. "The given EVs maximize Amoonguss's ability to take physical attacks. Regenerator is the only ability that should be considered, as it lets Amoonguss recover a third of its HP when it switches out and thus pivot more effectively. Black Sludge allows Amoonguss to survive more hits and grants it additional recovery; in conjunction with Regenerator, this makes Amoonguss very hard to take down."
Salamence @ Lum Berry
Ability: Moxie
Evs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Crunch
For my final poke, Salamence was chosen as a Ground Resist (immunity). His role is to punch holes and to cleanup on opposing teams. Dragon Dance allows Salamence to be able to OHKO quite a bit of the tier. Earthquake is to hit all that don't fly hard. Dragon Claw is for STAB and a way to hit other Dragons. Crunch is because i was told i have a Ghost/Psychic weakness and Crunch helps with that. Lum Berry is for getting rid of status because burns are problematic for Salamence. "The EV spread is to make Salamence's Special Attack and Speed as high as possible."
Well thats my team. Feel free to give all feedback because I'm kinda new.
