SM OU Mega Gallade, Kartana Team

swellow.gif

Swellow (M) @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Nature: Jolly
- Brave Bird
- Façade
- Quick Attack
- Protect

Swellow is usually my lead Pokemon if I don't have an idea what my opponent will start with. I picked Swellow in my team so I could resist all ground type moves that are expected to be used against my team, I also use it for it's ability Guts, I usually start with Protect so I could be sure to get burned without fainting during my first turn, then I usually spam Façade unless the opponent has a ghost, fighting, grass or a bug type, if that's the case then I use Brave Bird to get the STAB super-effective hit, and although Swellow is a fast Pokemon I put Quick Attack on him in case the opponent has low HP and I need the priority. In conclusion, Swellow is a strong Pokemon and if used correctly could make a powerful SWEEP Pokemon but Swellow isn't a perfect Pokemon due to it's terrible stats in HP which allows the opponent to easily OHKO Swellow, but I've learned to deal with Swellow Fainting.

weavile.gif

Weavile (M) Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Nature: Jolly
-Knock Off
-Icicle Crash
-Ice Shard
-Poison Jab

Weavile is one of the strongest members of my team, I usually save Weavile until I'm up against a powerful Pokemon that causes me a lot of problems, Weavile has the same EVs as Swellow which makes him very fast and very strong, and thanks to the Life Orb he holds, his strength just gets better, I put Poison Jab on him in case a fairy type is on the field and it's an attack they usually never see coming from a Weavile, Icicle Crash for the STAB and flinch chance, Ice Shard for the priority STAB and Knock off for getting rid of the opponent's annoying items. In conclusion, Weavile is my Fast Attacking Pokemon and if I lose him in the middle of the battle I better start praying to the Lord Arceus that I make it out as the victor.

kartana.gif

Kartana Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Nature: Jolly
- Smart Strike
- Leaf Blade
- Night Slash
- Sacred Sword

Kartana is my "finish the job" Pokemon, I usually bring it out at the end of the battle when the Pokemon of my opponent are weak enough for a guaranteed KO, With the Choice Scarf Kartana is almost faster than any Pokemon and all you have to do is get a KO or two and Beast Boost your attack stat so you can easily OHKO any Pokemon on your opponent's team. What's hard about Kartana is picking the right move because once you've attacked there's no going back, I normally make sure that the attack I'll use will do enough damage to ALL of my opponent's Pokemon and not just one or two, as long as you don't miss click and keep your eyes open Kartana will finish the battle easily.

gallade-mega.gif

Gallade (M) Galladite
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
Nature: Jolly
- Drain Punch
- Psycho Cut
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch

My mega evolution would be Mega Gallade, it was hard picking between Gallade or Gengar but in the end although Mega Gengar is faster and has an avantage over Gallade, Gallade has more options against his opponents, he has Drain Punch and Psycho Cut for the STAB physical attacks, Earthquake in case a Gengar or another Pokemon weak to ground type moves comes Gallade's way and Ice Punch for the Dragon and Flying types, During a battle Gallade is the one who leads me to victory and Kartana finishes the job.

haxorus.gif

Haxorus (M) Focus sash
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Nature: Adamant
- Dragon Claw
- Dragon Dance
- Poison Jab
- Earthquake

Like Weavile, without Haxorus I've pretty much lost the battle, It's a hard hitting Pokemon that can easily sweep the opponent's team if used correctly, I gave it Dragon Claw for the powerful STAB, Dragon Dance for the set up, Earthquake for coverage and Poison Jab against the fairy types because like with Weavile it's something the opponent doesn't expect.
In conclusion, Haxorus will be able to sweep anything unless there are Spikes, Toxic Spikes or Stealth Rocks on the field or if the opponent has a priority move to break the Focus Sash Dragon Dance combo.

toxapex.gif

Toxapex (M) Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Nature: Bold
- Baneful Bunker
- Toxic
- Scald
- Venom Drench

Last but not least, I've chosen Toxapex as my final Pokemon, Toxapex is my "tank" Pokemon, If the opponent has a physical Pokemon I use Baneful Bunker to Poison The opponent or if I'm not too worried about losing some HP i'll just go for the Toxic and poison the opponent, after that I'll normally use the moves Baneful Bunker and Venom Drench over and over again until my Pokemon faints, and just to top it off I put Scald on him in case the opponent is a steel or a poison type and cannot be poisoned but can be burned.

So that's my team, it's helped me out through a lot of tough battles and got me to the mid-1,500's on Showdown, the times I've lost with this team are due to poor decisions on my part and Sweeps from the opponents, please let me know what you think and thank you in advance !

Hello zap2samurrott, welcome to Smogon!
I hope you enjoy your stay here in this community.

I'd like to begin with a simple question - What playstyle am I building for? This is a question that all teambuilders must ask when building teams.
I ask this because this seems to be a "hyper offensive" team at first glance, but includes Toxapex - a pokemon that is normally reserved for stall or balance teams.
I mean no offense when asking this question, but it's something i'd like you to consider. That being said, I have based my suggestions on the hyper offense playstyle, because your current team consists of 5 offensive mons.
and plus its my own personal favourite playstyle

Now, you've created an interesting team here, however, i've noticed that your team has an incredibly hard matchup against STALL - nothing in particular can break through the Skarmory +Toxapex + Sableye core (which is seen on nearly every stall team). Protean Greninja has the coverage to hit everything on your team and Ash-Greninja is able to OHKO or 2HKO every member of your team. You also have a particularly hard time against Mega Lopunny, which, can easily sweep if Toxapex and/or Kartana has been removed. Magearna is another large threat to the team, as it is able to set up a Shift Gear on half of your team and proceed to OHKO every member on your team with its BoltBeam + STAB coverage, which, nothing on your team resists. Simply Put, there are a lot of common threats (all of which I cannot mention due to the sheer number of them)

Firstly, I propose you change Toxapex to an Azelf. As I previously mentioned, Toxapex did not fit on a presumed Hyper Offense team. Azelf can not only act as a hazard setter, but as well as a dedicated lead - which are two roles that your team did not previously have. Azelf not only acts as a dedicated lead, but can also act as an Anti-Lead with the use of Taunt - which can keep Stealth Rocks off of your side of the field, as you currently have 3 Stealth Rock weak 'mons. Max Defense is used to survive Mega Lopunny's Fake Out and Return, allowing it to set up Stealth Rocks against it.
TL:DR Azelf acts as a suicide lead that is able to not only gain momentum, but set up rocks and remove specific threats.

appropriately themed song for this Azelf ^_^

Flame Orb Swellow is simply put, outclassed by nearly any phyiscal wallbreaker in the tier, and only added a Stealth Rock weakness to the team. Landorus achieves what Swellow can do, but better. Not only does Landorus have a much better STAB combination, but can beat the large majority on the tier on its own - being able to OHKO Magearna, Toxapex, Skarmory / Celesteela *after a Smack Down with Earthquake, but also being able to remove Ground-Resistant 'mons with SuperSonic Sky Strike. Landorus also is able to beat Stall - being able to not only set up on Chansey or Clefable, but being able to OHKO Sableye, Toxapex and Skarmory (after a smack-down) with Earthquake, while also having the ability to avoid Dugtrio's arena trap.
TL:DR Landorus is a straight upgrade from Swellow, and can easily accomplish the things that Swellow could do and more without killing itself.
