[overview]
**Draft Order**: Late round 1 onwards
**Price Range**: 15-16 points
**Overview**: With outstanding offensive stats, a solid Speed stat, and a stellar offensive typing, Mega Diancie is a very potent threat that can easily overwhelm teams. With access to high-Base Power STAB moves on both sides in Diamond Storm and Moonblast and a decent arsenal of coverage moves on the special side, it can be a powerful wallbreaker. Thanks to Calm Mind and Rock Polish, it can also be a scary setup sweeper. However, sporting weaknesses to a few common types, especially a crippling 4x weakness to Steel, coupled with its poor bulk lets faster Pokemon revenge kill it. Furthermore, it can struggle to break past bulky walls without prior chip damage.

Common Roles
========
**Wallbreaker**: Mega Diancie makes the most of its amazing offensive typing, excellent offensive stats, and decent coverage in Earth Power and Hidden Power to dish out maximum damage on the opposing team. This set can also be used to revenge kill opposing Pokemon if they are in range. This set can sometimes drop a coverage move in favor of Stealth Rock as a utility option, Substitute to ease predictions, or Rock Polish in an attempt to sweep.
**Setup Sweeper**: Mega Diancie can utilize Calm Mind to further boost the output of its damaging moves, enabling it to achieve KOs more easily. Rock Polish is run to outspeed faster Pokemon and Choice Scarf users. As Diancie's base forme has better defensive stats, Mega Evolving can be delayed to allow for an easier setup opportunity.
Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Diamond Storm, Moonblast, Power Gem
**Setup Moves**: Calm Mind, Rock Polish
**Utility Moves**: Stealth Rock, Substitute, Reflect, Light Screen, Heal Bell, Toxic
**Coverage**: Earth Power, Hidden Power, Psychic, Psyshock, Explosion
Niche Moves
========
**Magnet Rise**: Magnet Rise can be run against certain Ground-types like Gliscor and Krookodile that may not be able to hit Mega Diancie for significant damage without STAB Ground-type moves.
**Protect**: Protect lets Mega Diancie scout for the foe's move and get off the Mega Evolution safely. This lets it have the opportunity to pivot in aggressively to prevent entry hazards from going up thanks to Magic Bounce. Protect can also be used to punish opposing attempts to set entry hazards on a predicted swap out.
**Endeavor**: Thanks to Mega Diancie's low HP stat, Endeavor can be run in conjunction with Substitute to severely weaken an opposing Pokemon that it may not be able to overwhelm offensively.
Draft Strategy
========
Mega Diancie is a fast, strong Pokemon that provides drafts with the coveted Fairy typing that fits seamlessly onto offensive drafts as a special wallbreaker and additional sweeping option. It can also fit on pivot-heavy bulky teams and play the role of both a wallbreaker and revenge killer, depending on the situation. However, a draft with it requires more roles to be filled than usual due to its weaknesses to several common types.
**Pivots**: Mega Diancie performs best when it is able to pivot in safely and fire off powerful STAB moves, which is facilitated by Pokemon that offer momentum such as Rotom-W, Scizor, and Hydreigon.
**Pokemon that KO Steel-types**: As Steel-types are the best switch-ins to Mega Diancie, since they resist its STAB moves, Pokemon that can pivot in and threaten them out like Victini, Infernape, and Nidoking make for excellent teammates. It can also attempt to support Fire-types by keeping Stealth Rock off their side.
**Physical Wallbreaker**: Though it usually always runs Diamond Storm as its Rock-type STAB move, Mega Diancie is primarily a special wallbreaker. Physical wallbreakers like Garchomp, Weavile, and Kyurem-B are solid complementary partners.
**Faster Pokemon**: While Mega Diancie's Speed is very good for an offensive Pokemon, it is recommended to pair it with faster Pokemon like Zeraora, Greninja, and Crobat or good Choice Scarf users like Hydreigon and Rotom-W.
**Entry Hazard Setters**: Mega Diancie appreciates entry hazard damage on potential checks, as that enables it to KO foes more easily. Thus, it appreciates entry hazard support from the likes of Steelix, Skarmory, and Qwilfish.
**Fighting-resistant Pokemon**: As Mega Diancie is a Fairy-type that does not resist Fighting, Pokemon that resist Fighting-types like Tornadus-T, Uxie, and Mesprit are recommended.
Checks and Counters
========
**Bulky Steel-types**: Bulky Steel-types like Jirachi, Metagross, and Bronzong are able to pivot in on Mega Diancie easily, as they resist both of its STAB types and threaten to KO it in return with their super effective STAB moves. Most Steel-types need to be wary of Earth Power, however.
**Faster Pokemon / Priority Attacks**: While faster Pokemon like Greninja and Tapu Koko cannot pivot into Mega Diancie directly, they can threaten to outspeed it and revenge kill it. Common Choice Scarf users like Landorus-T and Rotom-W can also threaten KOs similarly. Due to its lackluster bulk, it is also vulnerable to strong priority attacks like Bullet Punch from Scizor and Metagross, Water Shuriken from Greninja, and Aqua Jet from the likes of Azumarill and Blastoise.
**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types like Tapu Fini, Blastoise, and Toxapex can sponge Mega Diancie's hits pretty comfortably from full health. However, they must be careful of chip damage from entry hazards, which can put them in KO range from its powerful attacks.
**Bulky Grass-types**: Bulky Grass-types like Tangrowth, Shaymin, and Tapu Bulu make for reliable, consistent checks, as they have access to reliable recovery and threaten to KO Mega Diancie with their STAB moves. Mega Diancie also lacks the coverage to hit them hard, but they must be careful of Calm Mind sets.
