ORAS OU Mega Charizard X team

Hello, this is my team based around Mega Charizard X, please rate it and give me any advice that I need/criticize this team as you see fit :)

Charizard-Mega-X (M) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Claw
- Dragon Dance
- Roost

Main Pokemon of the team(obviously). NEVER use him right out of the gate just to avoid him being swept away early or having him hit by Hazards. Obviously my main Physical Sweeper, but chose to have the Jolly Nature on him just to have the extra speed to go first.

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe
Bold Nature
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
- Roost
- Stealth Rock

Nothing really to put here, he's just my co-main lead, I will lead with him about 75-80% of the battles, but will try and rotate him out quickly so I can keep him for a possible hazard setup in the middle of the battle. Other than that will use Whirlwind to just rotate the opponents out so I can avoid any sashes/sturdy Pokemon

Tyranitar (M) @ Chople Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 80 Def / 180 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Pursuit
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Ice Beam

Special Wall/other Co-main lead due to him having Stealth Rocks. I put pursuit on him to get some damage on guys that are rotating out for other Pokemon and for Baton Pass/Volt Switch. Also can deal some major damage of Stone Edge/Ice Beam

Excadrill (M) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin

Rapid Spinner/Physical Sweeper. Normally when I'm about to send out Charizard I will send Excadrill out to get rid of Rocks/Spikes/Leech Seed. Also will use him when I have to take out a Pokemon when it has 2 or 3% HP to get a quick K.O.

Serperior (M) @ Miracle Seed
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Taunt

Special Sweeper, nothing but that, just a special Sweeper, will use Leaf Storm right out of the gate so I can use Contrary to double it's Sp.ATK and really set up for sweeping. Hidden Power Fire is there to check and counter Scizor/Ferrothorn, Dragon Pulse there for Garchomp/Dragonite.

Dragonite (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Iron Tail
- Superpower
- Extreme Speed

Wall Breaker, decided to go with MultiScale instead of Inner Focus because MultiScale has saved me quite a bit giving me time to set up with Outrage to get major damage/quick K.O to possibly set up for the other Pokemon.

Hi, this looks like a very standard sand offense team. I believe a few changes can work in favor for you

Aim of the team: To attain either a Charizard-X or an Excadrill sweep with both supporting each other by overwhelming their common checks

My first change would be Latios over Dragonite. While Dragonite works pretty nicely here towards achieving the team's overall goal, the team's archetype is such that it struggles against the likes of Manaphy and Keldeo. Latios can work pretty nicely here because it allows you the liberty of running SD Excadrill while you can go for 3 Attacks+Roost set if you choose to keep Rapid Spin.

Heatran looks like a real pain to deal with, so I'd suggest HP Ground on Serperior. This change is very nice for the team's goal as it lures in Heatran which is a hard check to Charizard.

The team struggles against Fairy-types in general. I'd suggest going for SpDef Skarmory over your current set as it's naturally physically bulky so you'll still be able to retain the ability to check the mons you originally intended to.

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Iron Head
- Spikes
- Roost
- Whirlwind

Latios @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power Fire/Defog
- Roost

Okay so after testing I have figured out a few things.

1. Latios over Dragonite was an excellent call, didn't really think of that but it's helped me out tremendously.

2. Tyranitar in it's current form isn't really cutting the mustard for me as a wall, constantly overwhelmed and not really doing his job properly, plus the Sand Stream is hurting every other Pokemon except Excadrill because he gets a doubled speed.

any thoughts on possibly switching TTar?

You could use choices Ttar depending on what you need (scarf or band). Band can help your Serperior, scarf can help versus Torn

So I made some changes to the team. Here's an updated team

Charizard-Mega-X (M) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Claw
- Dragon Dance
- Roost

Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Iron Head
- Spikes
- Roost
- Whirlwind

Tyranitar (M) @ Chople Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 80 Def / 180 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Pursuit
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Ice Beam

Excadrill (M) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Rapid Spin
- Iron Head
- Earthquake

Serperior (M) @ Miracle Seed
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Taunt

Latios @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Roost

Roles still reflect what they are in the OP

Ehy man I really like the Sand Core to support Charizard, the team is relatively solid but there are things to improve. The first problem of this team is Heatran, Heatran stop the Charizard and Serperior sweep really wall, yeah you can stop it with Excadrill but isn't a switch in: you only try to revegekill it and it's really bad. Venusaur is another annoying presence for this team, you can break it with Charizard but is your only mode to kill it. Lopunny is a very problem for this team, because you can't switch in and you haven't a really good mode to kill it. Bisharp is annoyng for this team because you haven't a good switch in for it and break this build after Sword Dance. Talonflame is another weakness for this team if is SpD because can burn Tyranitar that is your main switch in for it and stop the Serperior Sweep.

My suggest to improve this team is to try Manaphy > Skarmory Manaphy is second my opinion the best choice for this team: Manaphy gives you a good switch for Heatran and destroy Stall Build with Calm Mind + Rain Dance. I've choice the Defensive Calm Mind set to gives you a switch in for things like Bisharp and Lopunny that destroy this build, calm mind helps to check Tornadus-T that is a huge weakness for the team. Manaphy also can check SpD talonflame that is another problem of the team. Another suggest is to use Leftovers > Miracle Seed and Glare > Taunt Leftovers improve the Serperior longevity also you don't need to Taunt because now you have Manaphy that break Stall Build. Glare allows you to paralyze pokemon like Tornadus and Talonflame that is really annoying for this team because you haven't a really switch in for it. Latios > Dragonite is another suggest because allows you against things like Charizard Y and gives you a second switch in for keldeo. Roost is a good option because improve the Latios longevity but u can try thunderbolt to helps against Azumarill. With Latios that gives you a Hazard Remove SD Excadrill > Rapid Spinis the best option because can pressure Defensive things like Slowbro and Landorus-t/Hippodown that are the main Charizard check.

The team isn't perfect and have some Weakness the first problem is Tornadus, because your only check for it is Manaphy/Tyranitar but aren't a safe switch in. Another problem is Serperior: Serperior can destroy this build really easily after Charizard Mega evolution or with there are the stealth rock in your camp. But the common Setter are Landorus/Garchomp in this moment that you can lure with Ice Beam Tyranitar.

Set Complete

- Rapid Spin
- Iron Head
- Earthquake

Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

Have replaced Dragonite with Latios as mentioned before, really has improved the team especially with the sweeping to give Serperior a break, so that was an excellent suggestion.

I completely forgot about Manaphy, I have always frowned against using multiple legendaries on my team, buuuut Manaphy is technically a "mythical" Pokemon, not legendary, so will try that tonight.

I have decided to keep Rapid Spin on my Excadrill while also putting Swords Dance just because I feel like it's a MUCH better option to have both on the team as it really helps me sweep away any and all hazard that could affect Charizard. I originally was gonna run Defog on Latios but decided to go with HP Fire to make him a little bit more offensive.

Will definitely try out new suggestions tonight on Showdown
