VGC Mega Ampharos VGC Team

Intro:
My goal when making this team was to make a unconventional yet competitive team based around Mega Ampharos. I tried to use Pokemon that I like rather than ones that are "Competitive". However, I'm certainly not the greatest team builder in the world and would love some advice.

Mega Ampharos:
Loreal (Ampharos-Mega) @ Ampharosite
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 HP / 44 Def / 96 SpA / 116 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Dragon Pulse
- Substitute
- Protect

I chose this Pokemon because I think with the right support it can be amazing. Ampharos's role on this team is to be the main damage inducer (I don't know if you would call it sweeping in VGC). Thunderbolt and Dragon Pulse are my Dual Stab moves with few Pokemon resisting both. On first turn, I can usually set up a Sub as I use protect with the Pokemon beside me who is usually a trick room setter. This than allows me to set up Trick room easier as the opponent feels pressure to get rid of my sub. Protect is used for all the jobs protect usually does.
Aromatisse
Tiny Dancer (Aromatisse) @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Aroma Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Moonblast
-Heal Pulse
- Protect

Aromatisse fits this team well as it can efficiently set up Set up Trick Room. Between Aroma Veil and Safety goggle, other than fake out it can be hard to prevent it from getting up a trick room. Trick room is self explanatory; it's to set up Trick room. Moonblast is just a general attacking move, and can do a decent chunk to Garchomp that can Threaten Ampharos. Healing Pulse adds longevity to all my Pokemon, and Protect can help stall out Fake Outs.

Azumarill
FaceOfMercy (Azumarill) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Def
Brave Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Play Rough
- Superpower

Azumarill adds Physical moves and coverage to my team. I added him for this purpose, and it's also a benefit that he gets Priority in Aqua Jet. Waterfall it his main attacking move and can deal plenty of damage. Play Rough can take out Dragons such as Garchomp that threaten Ampharos. Superpower is an absolute necessity as it deal massive damage to mega Kang quite well.
Gourgeist-Super
Shawny (Gourgeist-Super) @ Leftovers
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Will-O-Wisp
- Trick Room
- Protect
- Leech Seed

Gourgeist is my second Trick Room Setter, and it can also switch in on Earthquakes that Mega Ampharos doesn't Appreciate. With Will o wisp, it can cripple Physical attackers and provide chip damage. Leech Seed allows it to live longer, and multiple of my games have come down to my Gougeist against two opposing Pokemon, and with leech seed and leftovers, Gougeist doesn't die. As Usual, Protect is on this pokemon to stall out leech seed and burn
Rotom-Heat
Free Hugs (Rotom-Heat) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
-Will-O-Wisp
- Protect

Rotom heat was chosen as a powerful Fire Type. Ferrothorn can be a huge thorn in my side(that was terrible) and overheat absolutely obliterates it. Thunderbolt acts as a dual stab, although to be honest i could see replacing it with something else since i already have Ampharos for special Electric attacks. Will o wisp is still to Spread Burn, and protect as usual. Note, I am split between running Chesto Berry as another way to deal with the ever present Spore in VGC.
Poliwrath
Stan (Poliwrath) @ Life Orb
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Circle Throw
- Scald
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

This is where my team gets slightly murky. Honestly, Poliwrath is just a placeholder and is a Pokemon I like. I just needed a sixth pokemon, and would really appreciate ideas for this slot. The set is just right from the Strategy Pokedex on Smogon. Not much to say here since I'm looking to replace him.

Ideas for this team are highly appreciated; to be honest i am a terrible team builder. Other than Mega Ampharos being on the team, pretty much anything else is open to being changed. While it doesn't have to be quite so obscure as some of the Pokemon here, I would prefer if you guys gave me ideas that aren't Uber Common like Mega Kangaskhan, Talonflame, Salamence, Ferrothorn, etc. Thanks!

I really like this team because I know how good Mega-Amphy can be, however Aegislash literally beats all of your team as soon as Rotom-H is gone. Poliwrath also needs to be replaced because you have way too many dual typings which is leaving you open for Sylveon as well now that it is a huge threat in the meta. These are the changes I would make to your team without changing anything other than Poliwrath to keep it as original as possible.

Bisharp @ Life Orb / Focus Sash
Ability: Defiant
Brave Nature
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Protect

This is a pretty standard Bisharp set but now with the addition of Knock Off, it becomes a huge threat to a lot of the new Pokemon (Mega-Garde/Sylveon) as well as beating most of their counters (mainly Aegislash). It also gives you another option if Trick Room were to not go up just because you don't have much support to put it up. Life Orb and Focus Sash are two solid items that Bisharp can hold just for the obvious reasons of hitting hard or sustaining the Pokemon. Another EV Spread is 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe with an Adamant Nature if you want to have a chance outside of TR.

252+ Atk Life Orb Bisharp Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 60 Def Sylveon: 244-291 (120.7 - 144%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Bisharp Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Shield: 164-195 (98.2 - 116.7%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

More options:

Scrafty @ Lum Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 244 Atk / 12 Def
Brave Nature
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- Fake Out
- Protect

Always survives a Banded Brave Bird from Talonflame when it's at -1. Beats Mega-Kanga 1v1 usually always. Fake Out support to help set up Trick Room. Fairs pretty well against things like Aegislash and Scizor as well which are two main threats to your team and Pokemon you'll see around at this point in the meta. If you change Azumarill to Belly Drum and give Scrafty the AV and Rotom-H the LO than you can use Fake Out to help setup that as well.

Pangoro @ Life Orb
Ability: Iron Fist
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Brave Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- Protect

I'm just going to let the calcs do the talking for this different, but good option.

252+ Atk Life Orb Iron Fist Pangoro Drain Punch vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Mega Kangaskhan: 213-252 (100.4 - 118.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Pangoro Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Shield: 164-195 (98.2 - 116.7%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Pangoro Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 60 Def Sylveon: 244-289 (120.7 - 143%) -- guaranteed OHKO

More options I'd be willing to take: If you decide to put in Scrafty, move AV from Azumarill to Scrafty and use Choice Band on Azumarill.
