ORAS OU Mega Altaria Team OU

So I built this team around Mega-Altaria because I think it looks really cool, but its also very strong. I put in Magnezone with hidden power fire, so that i can trap and destroy any steel types before i use altaria. Next i picked Tentacruel, because it covers some of magnazone and altaria's weaknesses, also its a great rapid spinner. I picked Gliscor, because it has great synergy with tentacruel, and it has immunity to electric and ground, both of which are super effective against magnezone and Tentacruel. Also, tentacruels toxic spikes goes well with gliscor's stalling set. I needed a choice scarfer for more offensive power, and i thought staraptor was a good choice. Lastly, i chose Breloom, because its always a pain to play against. Its actually also a counter to talonflame (lol), because its sashed, so it could take a hit, and then spore it and then ohko talonflme with rock tomb.

altaria-mega.png

Altaria-Mega (F) @ Altarianite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Return
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Dragon Dance
The star of the show. Pixilated hyper voice is awesome, earthquake is good coverage for steel and fire types that it's STAB is not very effective against. Dragon Dance on a predicted switch, and roost to keep it alive for longer.

magnezone.gif

Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Magnezone's job is to get rid of all the steel-types before I send out Altaria. Thunderbolt and Flash Cannon are great STABs, Volt switch on predicted switchouts, or to get out of sticky situations, and HP Fire is there to punish the steel types that i trap with its great ability Magnet Pull.

tentacruel.gif

Tentacruel (F) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Clear Body
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 208 SpD / 52 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Sludge Bomb
Tentacruel is a good special wall, and if it sets up toxic spikes, it would greatly aid this team. It is also this team's hazard removal. Scald and sludge bomb are dual stab.

gliscor.gif

Gliscor (M) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 196 Def / 64 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Substitute
- Protect
- Toxic
A bit of a stalling set lol...But it has great synergy with tentacruel; it covers its electric and ground weakness and tentacruel covers it's ice weakness. This stalling set is especially good if Tentacruel has set up toxic spikes. Earthquake is STAB, it needs an attack move.
staraptor.gif

Staraptor (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Reckless
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Close Combat
- Double-Edge
- U-turn
Needed a more offensive presence...and more speed. Brave bird and double edge Dual stab with Reckless is unbelievably powerful. Close Combat for the steel type and other coverage and u-turn for Getting out of unfavorable situations.

breloom.gif

Breloom (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
EVs: 208 SpD / 52 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Mach Punch
- Spore
- Rock Tomb
- Bullet Seed
Breloom is another offensive mon. I try to start of with spore, unless they have a grass mon. Technician mach punch and bullet seed are good, and rock tomb is good coverage. Im actually not too sure about this moveset, bullet seed hasnt done much in my experience with this team.

So Im really open to suggestions, about movesets, ev spreads, etc.

Hello, nice team but it have many flaws :
  • Weak to DarkSpam
  • Weak to Manaphy
I don't really like the idea of sash Breloom in non-offensives teams.
Staraptor is pretty bad scarfer : he have stealth rock weakness, recoil damage from mains STAB,It can't revenge kill few mon at full health,he don't really have other utility since Scarf Landorus-T can check Electric types/Zard-X,Scarf Keldeo which have a dark resistence which is pretty usefull in offensive team to use it as dark spam check(Bisharp/Weavile) and fire resistence.
This Gliscor set is pretty outdated,SpeDef is by far the best since you can use it to check/beat thing like Clefable/M-Diancie.
I don't really like Tentacruel in this team since he can't really help your team,i mean Magnezone remove common counter to this Altaria(Scizor/Ferrothorn/Skarmory) but Altaria don't have problem with grounded type(You can just use Hippowdon as setup bait,Garchomp is hitted by super effective damage and Landorus-T don't care about T-Spikes),Tentacruel also don't really work well with this kind of teams.

I don't really see why you are using Specs Zone since it can't really do anything better than the Scarf,Scarf would help you to revenge kill something like M-Altaria and to revenge kill Manaphy(or check it) which is pretty huge threat for any non-prepared team.
Mon who could take advantage of the fact that Magnezone removes Skarmory/Ferrothorn/Scizor would be really good,Azumarill/Weavile for exemple
Good check to Weavile which can threat your M-Altaria/Magnezone(even if he is scarf, weavile still outspeeding him).Azumarill/Keldeo/Scizor/Klefki for exemple are all good check to him.
Scarf Landorus-T its one of the most annoying to face for this core, using ground/bug resistence are the key of the succes.Rocky Helmet/Rough Skin are pretty usefull to punish him from spamming U-turn(Garchomp/Landorus-T are doing this).

I'd recommend you to think about my advices and try to change thing which are in your opinion not good for this team and try to rebuilded it by using M-Alty + Scarf Zone core.

Good luck with your team !

Ok I like all of your suggestions. So basically:
Sash Breloom-change
Specs magnezone<choice magnezone
mega altaria-cool
tentacruel-not good on this team
gliscor-change

Thats a lot of suggestions, and im not sure where to start.

Ok I like all of your suggestions. Are there any changes in particular besides magnezone choiced (which i already changed) that you think would help the most?
Rebuilding around the M-Alty+Scarf Zone core with using my advices would be cool because there are no really good reason to use Staraptor/Breloom in this team and Tentacruel too.Gliscor can fite in but its depend of the rest of the team,as i said it before you need to use my advices (and of other players ofc) to try to have a better build.

Would replacing tentacruel with clefable help to give my team some more speed?

Nah it don't work like that :

M-Altaria have problem with some steel types(Skarmory/Ferrothorn/Scizor) and Fairy types (M-Diancie/M-Gardevoir/Clefable).Magnezone allow you to cover them all with checking Slowbro which can be annoying for your Altaria and which can check/revenge kill(scarf) Manaphy which is a big threat for any teams.

Weavile is still a problem since you can't really outspeeding him with Magnezone(even with the Choice Scarf).Azumarill for exemple can work as good check to him(be worry about Poison Jab) which can take advantage of the fact that Magnezone removes Skarmory/Ferrothorn/Scizor.AV allow him to check M-Diancie and even without it,it can handle thing like Clefable(its cool to have 2 way to remove it since Magnezone is your first one).

Dark Spam is still annoying in your team since you don't have any resistence(Bisharp for exemple can eat Azumarill). There are few mon which can work as this like Keldeo/Garchomp/Hippowdon/Klefki which depend of your playstyle(you can't play Hippowdon in an offensive team).

Your team lack of ground resistence/immunity and Scarf Landorus-T is very threating for your team.try to find an answer for that(Rocky helmet or ability like rough skin punish him from u-turn out for exemple,Garchomp/Landorus-T are very good user of this)

Gliscor depend of the the rest of the team

SO i made a few changes that have worked somewhat decently.
-Choice scarf magnezone instead of choice specs magnezone
-choice band azumarill over breloom
-t-wave and spikes klefki over tentacruel
-talonflame over staraptor
-and i changed the gliscor set to this
Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 8 Def / 200 SpD / 56 Spe
Careful Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Facade
- Roost

Now its look like better, anyway you still don't have a stealth rocker lol,Klefki/Azumarill are fine,Garchomp over your Gliscor will allow you to have a decent stealth rocker which work well with Klefki,It can check Sand Offense and punish U-turn from Scarf Landorus-T which is really cool.
Remove Talonflame/Staraptor since you don't have any entry hazard remover, try to find an good ground resistence/immunity in the last slot, since you are not using Landorus-T,you can use Tornadus-T/Thundurus-I in the last slot

M Alt and Scarf Zone offensive core is both common and effective. There isn't much that can reliably deal with it.
I agree with what's already been said: staraptor isn't needed, gliscor is good (with a set change) and tentacruel is kinda obsolete.
You are weak to dark spam + Ice if you run magnezone/M alt and gliscor, so weavile is a problem if Magnezone isn't already in play. Keldeo is a perfect fit to offer some resistances while keeping up offensive pressure. You still get the ice/water resist but you also resist dark and have much better offensive pressure than tentacruel. Also helps against bisharp which murders your team without breloom alive.
That still leaves you weak to the likes of thunderous/ mega manectric so you need a solid mon to be able to deal with electric/ ice spam + fighting and/or fire. That allows for the inclusion of a defogger too, such as Latios/ mew. Since bisharp and weavile are under control it depends on if you want offensive support or more defensive support. Personally on such an offensive build I would run Latios as it allows you to hit gengar on the switch with psychic before switching to Gliscor.
Last slot really depends. Manaphy will wreck you if you can't switch into magnezone in which case ferrothorn would be a great addition. It gives you a spore/ leech seed absorber and grass stab.

On mobile so I can't give sets I'll see if I can do something about it now.

Hi superninjadillo , Nice team , It looks decent but there are still a few flaws that I noticed...

  • First of all I think Max Speed Mega Altaria gonna benefit the team more and use Timid Nature on Mega Altaria , timid nature helps you to outspeed mega lop at +1 speed and will help you sweep even if Mega Lop is around

  • You also lacks scald switch-in , Earthquake switch-in , Keldeo Switch-in and you are weak to Sand , so I think Celebi > Klefki , although u can't set up spikes but you still get Thunder Wave Support to Cripple Ice Punch Mega Metagross and it can also switch into Scald thanks to Natural cure and it also counters non Hp Bug Keldeo.

  • You also lacks hazard removal which isn't good on a Mega Altaria team , so I think Mandibuzz > Tornadus-Therian , Mandibuzz also takes care of Gengar for your team , but it also check belly drum Azumarill , Mandibuzz's foul play OHKO Azumarill at +6 atk after rocks and 16 speed is used on Mandibuzz to outspeed it.

I will definitely try these sets. On my mega altaria, i traded earthquake for cotton guard, and it helped a lot. But im not sure what ev spread to use. Should i still use timid if im using cotton guard? Also, my team still looks weak to venusaur mega.

Well the cotton guard + dd variant runs 248 HP / 136 Def / 96 SpD / 28 Speed iirc...
28 Speed EVs are required to outrun Mega Lopunny and Manectric at +2, and to outrun maximum Speed Azumarill when unboosted. 248 HP / 136 Def / 96 SpD narrowly prevents KOs from some commonly feared, powerful attacks; for instance, Mega Altaria can't be 2HKOed by Choice Band Dragonite's Earthquake, Life Orb Thundurus's Hidden Power Ice, Mega Heracross's Rock Blast, and +1 Jolly Mega Charizard X's Flare Blitz, and it cannot be OHKOed by Jolly Mega Beedrill's Poison Jab and Azumarill's Play Rough.

EDIT : Copied shamlessly from smogon...
