So I built this team around Mega-Altaria because I think it looks really cool, but its also very strong. I put in Magnezone with hidden power fire, so that i can trap and destroy any steel types before i use altaria. Next i picked Tentacruel, because it covers some of magnazone and altaria's weaknesses, also its a great rapid spinner. I picked Gliscor, because it has great synergy with tentacruel, and it has immunity to electric and ground, both of which are super effective against magnezone and Tentacruel. Also, tentacruels toxic spikes goes well with gliscor's stalling set. I needed a choice scarfer for more offensive power, and i thought staraptor was a good choice. Lastly, i chose Breloom, because its always a pain to play against. Its actually also a counter to talonflame (lol), because its sashed, so it could take a hit, and then spore it and then ohko talonflme with rock tomb.
Altaria-Mega (F) @ Altarianite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Return
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Dragon Dance
The star of the show. Pixilated hyper voice is awesome, earthquake is good coverage for steel and fire types that it's STAB is not very effective against. Dragon Dance on a predicted switch, and roost to keep it alive for longer.
Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Magnezone's job is to get rid of all the steel-types before I send out Altaria. Thunderbolt and Flash Cannon are great STABs, Volt switch on predicted switchouts, or to get out of sticky situations, and HP Fire is there to punish the steel types that i trap with its great ability Magnet Pull.
Tentacruel (F) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Clear Body
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 208 SpD / 52 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Sludge Bomb
Tentacruel is a good special wall, and if it sets up toxic spikes, it would greatly aid this team. It is also this team's hazard removal. Scald and sludge bomb are dual stab.
Gliscor (M) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 196 Def / 64 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Substitute
- Protect
- Toxic
A bit of a stalling set lol...But it has great synergy with tentacruel; it covers its electric and ground weakness and tentacruel covers it's ice weakness. This stalling set is especially good if Tentacruel has set up toxic spikes. Earthquake is STAB, it needs an attack move.
Staraptor (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Reckless
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Close Combat
- Double-Edge
- U-turn
Needed a more offensive presence...and more speed. Brave bird and double edge Dual stab with Reckless is unbelievably powerful. Close Combat for the steel type and other coverage and u-turn for Getting out of unfavorable situations.
Breloom (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
EVs: 208 SpD / 52 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Mach Punch
- Spore
- Rock Tomb
- Bullet Seed
Breloom is another offensive mon. I try to start of with spore, unless they have a grass mon. Technician mach punch and bullet seed are good, and rock tomb is good coverage. Im actually not too sure about this moveset, bullet seed hasnt done much in my experience with this team.
So Im really open to suggestions, about movesets, ev spreads, etc.
