I've been playing a lot of OU lately and I've had some luck with a Mega Pinsir team that I built. However< I wanted to change it up and create a new team! So I decided to pick one of the best megas around: Mega Altaria. I then decided to add a twist to this team by adding another element: Sand.
Let me know what you think! This was a spur of a moment kind of thing so don't afraid to be harsh!
Altaria (M) @ Altarianite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Return
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
The star of the show. With it's great defensive typing and access to dragon dance, Mega Altaria is something that we all have to prepare for. Pretty standard set here. I decided to carry Fire Blast on here solely for the element of surprise against those pesky steel types. Aside from steel types, Mega Altaria can have a field day if it gets one DD set up!
Serperior (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Giga Drain
I have been trying to hard to use Serperior ever since we've gained access to it's HA. Well, here we go. I know assault vest isn't a tradition item for Serperior but I already have a life orb user in Excadrill and I didn't want to be too redundant with residual damage. Pretty standard moveset here for Serp.
Excadrill @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin
I have been destroyed by Sand Rush Excadrill too many times that I've decided to join the dark side and use one. Excadrill is an absolute monster. Earthquake and iron head are there for STAB and are probably two of the best moves in the game. Rock slide is there simply because this isn't a mold breaker variant of Excadrill. I decided to use rapid spin in stead of swords dance solely because I wanted a way to remove rocks from my side of the field.
Tyranitar (M) @ Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 80 Def / 180 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Ice Beam
I was going to use a scarfed T-Tar but I decided that Keldeo was better fit as my scarfer so I kind of turned T-Tar into my lead/support Pokemon. I envision that I will be leading with T-Tar A LOT. I want to get rocks set up ASAP and I want the sand to get going immediately. Stone Edge is a great move despite having such a terrible accuracy rate. Pursuit is an underrated move in the game. And Ice Beam, much like Fire Blast on Mega Altaria, is there for the element of surprise.
Keldeo @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Secret Sword
- Hydro Pump
- Icy Wind
I love me some tail glow Manaphy but I've been burned too many times by Keldeo. Let's face it: Keldeo is one of the best mons in the game. There is no debating that. I neglected specs for scraf solely because I needed a scarfed on this team and I felt like Keldeo could be a great late game sweeper as well. Standard moveset here.
Latias @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 68 Def / 192 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Roar
- Recover
- Dragon Pulse
So I had a tough time, just like everyone else, filling out the last slot on my team. I wanted a great typing with some good natural bulk. So I went to Latias. This set originally is supposed to be for a Mega Latias but I slabbed lefties on it to make it a normal Latias. I am not sold at all on this set. I love Latias more than I like Latios (call me crazy).
**Conclusion**
- I have no knock off users.
- The more I think about it: Latias is almost a wasted spot.
- AV on Serperior seems idiotic to me.
Help!
