XY OU Mega Alakazam Team

Hey guys!

So I was just looking up some mega stats on serebii, and I noticed Mega Alakazam. 150 Speed and 175 Special Attack!? I was like, sign me up!

Of course, Sucker Punch wrecks him, and his ability isn't that great, but with Mega Kangaskhan in Ubers, not many teams carry a Sucker Puncher, and most of the time Trace does benefit. So, without further ado, lets jump in!

The Synergies/Strategies

Houndoom's weaknesses: Water, Rock, Ground, Fighting
Covered by: Fighting types=Psychic, Water/Rock/Ground types=Energy Ball

Alakazam's Weaknesses: Bug, Dark, Ghost
Covered by: Dark=Focus Blast (Alakazam), Bug=Fire Blast, Ghost=Dark Pulse

I think this pair work really well together, as with their movesets they can cover virtually all of the others weaknesses (apart from Alakazam-Dark which he can take care of himself w/ Focus Blast and which Houndoom resists anyway). Anyway, I think this pair work really well together. Don't hesitate to tell me what you think of this pairing!

Azumarill's Weaknesses: Grass, Electric, Poison
Covered by: Grass=Sludge Bomb, Electric=Earthquake, Poison=Earthquake

Venusaur's Weaknesses: Fire, Ice, Flying, Psychic
Covered by: Fire=Aqua Tail, Ice=Brick Break, Flying=Ice Punch Psychic=Houndoom

Sadly, not all Venusaur's weaknesses are covered by Azumarill, but at least half of them are, and Psychic is covered by Houndoom anyway. Also, yeah these movesets probably seem a bit weird to you. Earthquake with 201 Atk (with 4 EV investment and neutral nature) is gonna hit decently, and Brick Break with Scarf is gonna hit quite hard. Again, please tell me what you think of this pairing!

242.png

Weaknesses: Fighting
Covered by: Insane HP, 252 Def and Sp. Def investment, and Alakazam (If you need him)

Basically the Standard Blissey set, Seismic Toss reliably chips away at the opponents health, a little bit at a time.Thunder Wave can slow down opponents, Soft Boiled is a reliable way to heal itself, and Heal Bell can heal poisons and burns afflicting team-mates. I wasn't sure about wish, but tell me if you think I should include it.

Weaknesses: Fire, Psychic, Flying, Rock
Covered by: Fire=Azumarill, Psychic=Houndoom, Flying=Azumarill (Ice Punch), Rock=Azumarill/Alakazam (Focus Blast/Energy Ball)

The final team member! Again, the standard set you see, this one in fact imported from Smogon XY Dex itself. I'm not going to go over it, since you probably know how it works. But again, tell me what you think of it in this team!

Movesets/Importable
Alakazam-Mega @ Alakazite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dazzling Gleam
- Focus Blast
- Energy Ball
- Psychic

Psychic provides some strong STAB, and the rest of the moves provide some decent power and coverage. Dazzling Gleam takes care of pesky Dragon Types, and provides a means of killing Dark Types alongside Focus Blast. Energy ball can help get rid of Ground types that bother Houndoom. Isn't really much more to say on this set, but definitely tell me what you think.

Houndoom @ Shell Bell
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Dark Pulse
- Sludge Bomb
- Shadow Ball

Shell Bell provides a decent means of regenerating health, and like with Alakazam, the rest of the set just provides coverage. FYI if you want to suggest something, Sludge Bomb is very flexible because I only picked it because I didn't know what I should fill the last slot with. I'm thinking about Will 'o Wisp, but I'm not sure.

Venusaur @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Earthquake

One of the main hitters of this set. More of an attacker than the more common Synthesis/Leech Seed set, but it works. Earthquake does decent damage and provides massive coverage, though usually it's only used as a back-up move. Giga Drain provides some decent STAB and is also a reliable way to heal itself, Sludge Bomb has STAB, and HP Fire provides coverage against many types, including Ice. Life Orb just makes sure I can hit as hard as I need, often just clinching the OHKO.

Blissey @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
- Soft-Boiled
- Heal Bell
- Thunder Wave
- Seismic Toss

Not much to say here, basically your standard Blissey set. Heal Bell can get rid of annoying Burns on my physical attackers like Scolipede and Azumarill, or Toxic or rarely Sleep. Seismic Toss reliably chips away at opponents, Thunder Wave slows opponents, often helping a lot, and Soft-Boiled reliably heals itself. Wasn't sure about Wish, but let me know if you think I should include it.

Scolipede @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 16 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 236 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Megahorn
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab
- Protect

The standard set, this one in fact copied from the almighty smogon dex itself. Life Orb, again, means it can hit just that little bit harder, and the rest of the moves... Well, I don't think I need to explain them. This set has gotten really popular nowadays.

Azumarill @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Aqua Tail
- Ice Punch
- Bounce
- Brick Break

Finally, everyone's favourite aquatic bunny, Azumarill! it's running scarf so it can hit first without aqua jet, and everything else is just Coverage. I passed up Play Rough just for that extra coverage, but tell me what you think of this set.

Thanks guys! Hope you like it, and please give me some feedback, I'd really appreciate it!

Bye!-Cubone

Explain your moves, why you picked them. Suprised this hasn't been locked, as this team is far from being close to competitive.

Since no one elsed helped you Ill give it a try

First, Venusaur isnt that good non-mega either so you should replace it with Latios imo. With Latios you have a special attacker that beat alot of same pokemon as Venusaur such as Keldeo, Rotom-W, grass types and with Eq you can surprise kill heatran, and it can also get rid of hazards witch none of your current pokés can

The set:

Latios @ Life Orb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Ability: Levitate
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Earthquake
- Defog
Another standard set but with Earthquake to surprise Heatrans as your Venusaur did the same. You have no way to get rid of Stealth Rock and it is very important to be able to do Defog is necesary. With both Alakazam, Latios, you are pretty weak to Bisharp, but then I suggest:

You should switch out Houndoom for Bisharp because Houndoom is not good without its mega and sun. And Bishrp will help you with dark coverage and most importantly Chansey as it is a huge threat to your team.

The set is:

Bisharp @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Low Kick

This is the standard Bisharp set, it will be able to take on things like Chansey, and other Bisharps with Low Kick and since type synergy seems important to you Bisharps weaknesses is covered by Alakazam and Azumarill, while Bisharp can handle the ghost types Alakazam struggles with.

Blissey is outclassed by Chansey so you should change it. It can also set up Stealth Rocks with it, and all teams pretty much needs it so I highly recommend you to use SR

The set:

Chansey (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
- Soft-Boiled
- Seismic Toss
- Heal Bell
- Stealth Rock

This set is used to set up Stealth Rock and keep your sweepers without status. Chansey with Eviolite and these EVs is avtually bulkiet than Blissey both physiclly and Specially.

And at last Azumarill is to slow for Choice Scarf, and the moves are really weird so I think you should use a Choice Band set

The last set:

Azumarill @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 88 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 164 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off / Superpower
- Play Rough

With Choice Band you have a really powerfull physical attacker and your only with Bisharp. You can use witchever move you want in the third slot, Superpower is mainly for Ferrothorn but you already have 2 mons with fighting coverage. But you also have Bisharp that spam Knock Off so it would be less effective if the opposing mon already lost its item.

Im really sorry if you think I changed to much, but its just that you are using some outclassed pokes,or some that is just bad in the current meta, and some movesets are just not good (as Choice Scarf Azumarill with Bounce and Brick Break).

honestly your team is lacking a physical wall to tank hits for alakazam. Alakazam has very little chance of surviving a physical hit so it needs something to make up for its base 65 defense. I would suggest replacing blissey with something like skarmary, gliscor, or eviolite tangela.
